It took another hour and half for all the staff members to got through the rest of the people here. Sagar's prediction about the number of Expert level people was a bit off with there actually being four more rather than three.
With everyone gathered the staff members started to take everyone to the final test which was the battle test. Here you would fight mock battles against the other people present and the judges are going to determine what level you could fight at and depending on the results you could either not be accepted or could be accepted.
For Skoll Academy this was actually the most important test regarding to what they were looking for in a student. Even if say you didn't do so well on your knowledge test and did fine during the power test, you could completely make it up here. Sagar wasn't sure if they were just looking for pure power during this test or if they'll keep an eye out for other things as well. Regardless Sagar was not too worried about fighting anyone here as he had already fought Expert's before and that was when he was weaker than he was now.
The staff members lead them to a coliseum of sorts, with it being on of the more appropriate places to have some fights. Entering the coliseum the saw different platforms congregating the center of it. This was probably so that they could host several fights at the same time and finish with this test more efficiently.
One of the staff members began explaining in more detail about the test, "Everyone here will participate in at least one fight to determine where you fall in comparison to your peers. We will be using the forms that you have filled out in the first test along with the results of the second test to pair you up with a suitable partner to fight. After which depending on how the fight turns out, you will either end up finishing your test or move on for further testing. You also don't have to worry about stray shots coming from other battles because as soon as you and whoever you're fighting walk on the platform the judge will raise a barrier around it. The barrier can handle some attacks from someone of the Saint level and it can also be repaired with time as well."
Sagar wondered if it was of a similar function to the one on the automatic carriage he took to get here as the function almost sounded similar, except for the fact that this barrier was more active and could be activated by someone. Maybe the one on the carriage can be as well but James didn't inform them about that function.
There were only five platforms so only ten people could go up and fight at one time and while they were pairing up those they felt appropriate there wasn't really any order to when someone would be called up. They were obviously only battles between those of the Intermediate level as that's what mostly everybody taking the test was at with an exception of six. The people at the Expert level would probably fight last not only because there were so few of them but as a kind of finale to these tests.
Eventually Sagar himself was called up to the third platform, waving to Talia and leaving Sagar made his way to the platform quickly. The judge for this platform had a very stern and square face showing that even though this was just a test along with a fight of people at the Intermediate level he still judged with seriousness.
The person that Sagar was fighting seemed to be warrior about the age of fifteen. He was giving off an aura like he wasn't going to take it easy on Sagar just because he was a few years younger, well he probably didn't know that. From the outside Sagar looked about the same age as him when in reality he was just twelve but maybe Sagar's doing the same and the warrior is younger than what he looks.
When the judge announced for the match to start the warrior started rushing at Sagar with a somewhat fast speed. The warrior saw that Sagar also looked like a warrior himself so he didn't think he would have to worry about spells being flung at him. He rushed at his fastest speed as not to give him opponent an opportunity to draw his weapon and he could finish this fight fast so he could impress the judge allowing him to have another fight.
Unfortunately for Sagar's opponent he made the wrong judgement not because he wasn't intelligent but simply because Sagar himself was a major outlier compared to other people his age.
When the warrior was about three meters from Sagar the ground suddenly burst with light. Before the warrior could react and explosion occurred right under his feet launching him not only into the air but flying back to his starting position. He was still technically conscious so he would be able to recover becoming more cautious as a result of it. Not wanting this Sagar simply cast another tiny explosion under the body of the warrior causing him to shot upward crashing hard into the barrier around the platform then crashing again when he fell back down.
These sets of attacks didn't really damage the warrior too much as, Sagar casted the weakest version possible of his explosion magic, and the fact that his bodily defenses were good as well. The warrior wasn't completely unconscious yet making Sagar admire his tenacity a bit but Sagar approached his collapsed body and placed the tip of his Saber to his throat allowing the judge to declare his win in the fight.
Sagar went back to where Talia was waiting for his next match to occur as he felt that he put on a satisfactory performance to allow them to give him a second match. As for the warrior he was quickly dragged off by some other staff members as he was still shaken up and wasn't moving from his spot. There were still other matched that needed to happen so he was wasting time by lying on the testing platform.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
