It was the usual day for me.
Cook, clean the house and water the plants, after that, I would go for some tea to relieve my tense shoulders from wiping the windows clean, only to see his back further leaving my sight.
As always, tears blurred my vision as I try to ignore the aching pain in my heart and continued to sip onto the tea that I've made. My mind went back to the first time he went home late, it was already been five years yet the words he told me was still vividly etched into my mind, not forgetting the pain it brought on my chest.
If only I could know what happened for us to be this way.
The doorbell rings and for a moment, I thought that he was here. Maybe he forgot some documents in his study room, or maybe he wanted to say something to me, just a simple word of thanks would made me cry in delight.
How pathetic, right?
I stand up abruptly, my knees making contact into the table as I repeatedly rubbed the sore spot on my legs. Rubbing my eyes furiously with my sleeves, I ignore the stinging pain inn my knee and walk towards the door.
"Wait a second!" I shouted as I nearly run from the door.
Opening the door, I was met with a scowl from my best friend, Alisha. She was still beautiful as ever.
With her long smooth legs sauntering her way over our house as she took my arms with her delicately manicured nails. Her brown hair cascades over her smooth shoulder, her white skin peeking from the small gap on her dress.
"Seems like you haven't missed me!" She pouted as she whines in my arms.
"I'm sorry. Guess I'm still caught up on your beauty as always" I sheepishly said which made her smile bloomed like the brightest flowers in spring.
I'm still a bit skeptical about the reason we became the best of friends.
Well, we just became friends when I saw her crying because of her fallen ice cream when we were still young. I offered her mine and from then on, we bonded strongly.
From best friends to sisters.
"Your house is still cold as ever" She said as her eyes glided on every corner of my house.
"Well, he was a bit busy and I can's stress him out al-"
"Stress him out you say?! He should be thanking you for your effort! You've been by his side helping him like a maid and as usual, he's acting like the king he is!" She said frustratingly.
I didn't flinch at her words anymore.
I know her personality. Although she look like a weak helpless female, she's far from that. She's strong-willed, independent and she have the confidence I've been jealous of for years. She says what she wants to say and she never hold back and for that, she was known to be the "Angel with a sharp tongue".
She's my savior when some mean girls bully me and now, she's like my mother who always nagged at me.
But I love it.
I love how much importance I held in her head, for her to travel all the way here and be with me to engage into some meaningless talks about the high society and the fakeness of the young misses from the different places that came to celebrate her brother's wedding.
"You'll come right?"
"Of course. You know how much of a brother Jirou is when it comes to me" I smiled at her as I held another cup of tea for her.
She accept it and nods in approval before humming. She always does this when she's thinking of something, and I bet it'll be the topic of him again.
"He'll come too right? You know? People are curious at him and I think It's absolutely the time for you to shine" She said in a wide smile.
See?
" I don't really want to do th-"
"You will and that's final, Eiri"
All I could do was to release a big breath.
