Katelyn had almost forgotten about her anxiety due to Egil's absence from the mess hall. Over the last few days, she had been able to perform all her tasks while safely avoiding him. For the first time since boarding the ship, she was at peace. You could almost say she was relaxed.
Having gone about her duties for the day she had begun to prepare the evening meal with the help of the cook, she began to load the cart not noticing an extra setting had been placed for Egil.
She was so relaxed, she was already looking forward to unwinding before bed. Out of habit she still feigned exhaustion early, and as a result, was still up early. She didn't mind it though. The quiet hours of the morning provided her a safety net for reflexion. She quite often wandered the upper decks while the crew slept and admired the vast ocean and skies around them.
Looking forward to the quiet hours in the cabin this evening she made her way to the mess hall lost in thought. Oblivious to the danger that waited within she pushed the cart through the doors, placing the meals down before the men when she heard the come clattering shut behind her.
Instantly, her body froze. Her breath became caught in her throat and her body began to tremble. Frantically, she tried to reason with herself. Maybe it wasn't him. Maybe it was Eddie, or Robert or another member of the crew. She quickly ran through the list of them in her mind. Her eyes darted around the room as her shoulders slumped. It was him. It had to be. Every other member had been accounted for.
Katelyn could feel her pulse quicken as her anxiety began to build. Unbelievable mingled with that feeling of anxiety was a mixture of longing and anticipation. She shut her eyes tight. How could she have been so foolish as to let her guard down? Inwardly, she berated herself.
Egil watched the timid little creature freeze as he entered the room, an amused look lighting his features as he walked toward her. He watched as her body seemed to tense and tremble with every step toward her, unable to school his features. This girl, for all supposed fierceness, was still such a kitten when compared to a man like him.
For the sake of the men in the room, and his own amusement, he moved to stand behind her. His hand gently brushing the hair from the nape of her neck as he murmured softly:
"Pet, you aren't still mad, are you? I thought I had given you enough space already…" His voice trailed off a the end of the question.
Katelyn could still feel the warmth of his breath on her skin. She shut her eyes harder, he was so near and there were so many voices clamoring around in her head. A part of her wanted to desperately to lean into that warmth that she had almost successfully forgotten, the other part of her feared it. She opened her mouth to speak but no voice came out. The hands that had been trembling all this while dropped the dishes she had been holding. His arm slipped around her waist, pulling her back from the debris, as he inhaled the scent from her hair.
"Come kitten, how long do you intend to punish me?" He continued to add, for the display of the men in the room.
Egil's voice was filled with mock contriteness. Even still, Katelyn could feel her heart constrict. Coupled with the warm of his body she felt her control begin to slip. Tears started to well in her eyes, hovering at the edge, just moments from falling.
"What..what do you want..from me" She whispered. Her voice was strained and broken. Loud enough for only the two of them to hear.
Egil smirked as he tilted his face into the cradle of her neck, pressing his lips to the skin there. He smiled feeling the tremor roll down her body. He could hear her heart hammering in her chest, matching its pace with his own.
"Oh come pet, I think that answer is rather obvious" He drawled against her skin, his hands splayed against her stomach as he pressed his body further into hers.
Katelyn's mouth went dry.
She took a deep steadying breath and just stood still. She could feel the heat from his body through her clothing, her heart was racing so badly she could hear her pulse thundering in her ears. What did he mean, that it should it should be obvious? The intimacy of his touch should have been enough to spell it out for her, but she was in denial. His words always seemed to say one thing and his actions another. She didn't dare fall for his trap this time. She decided to play stupid instead.
"I can't very well give you your meal..when I'm being restrained" She tried to reason with him. The tone of her voice though gave away the impact that hold was having on her sense.
Egil chuckled softly against her neck, the sensation causing her shiver in arms as her breath caught once again. She had to think and fast.
Her thoughts were broke off by his deep impassioned voice whispering against her ear.
"What if I want something...else?" was the quick reply, he flashed her his most charming smile effectively leaving her blind.
Katelyn was stunned. She opened her mouth to argue but was at a complete loss for words. Seeing he had the upper hand at the moment Egil turned any icy gaze to the men in the room.
"Leave!" He commanded.
At his command, the men rose. Their chairs clattering to the ground as they did, half-eaten meals left on the table.
Having Katelyn alone to himself in the room he pressed his lips to her skin once more mumbling as he did.
"Don't tell me, you can't tell how much I have missed you" He complained. His free hand drawing her even closer to him, prying her away from the cart.
Katelyn couldn't tell whether it was his words or his actions that were throwing her off. All she knew was the moment those words left his lips her resolve, what was left of it, instantly crumbled. She found herself leaning into his embrace as her body began to move of its own accord.
Feeling her give in, Egil turned her in arms pressing his lips to hers in a hungry kiss while he sat her on the table. He sucked and pulled at her lips as though they were air and he desperately needed to fill his lungs. His hands slid down her sides tugging up her shirt so he could feel her skin beneath. He was a man on fire. He hadn't intended to take it this far but the distance of the last few days had left feeling starved. She was his toy and his drug. Without the ability to have her near these last few days he was going through withdrawals.
His hands began to tug roughly at her shirt sending the buttons scattering across the room as he exposed her flushed skin to the cool air. All sense of control and caution was now cast aside as his hands cupped her breasts roughly. At the same time, his tongue found its way into her mouth, ravaging the insides desperately.
Katelyn went weak from the power of his assault. Her knees buckled beneath her as he lifted her onto the table. Breathless she clung to him, whether it was for support or out of urgency she couldn't tell. She was in a daze. When she felt her shirt being pulled open and his hands cup her breasts she trembled. A soft gasped escaped from her lips as she felt the heat from his touch.
Egil broke the kiss for a brief moment while he curled into fingers into her hair. He tipped her head back and his lips blazed a trail down her neck. Lips and teeth grazed her flesh causing her to moan in a voice she didn't recognize as her own.
The sound of her voice broke the spell Egil had been under. He wanted her, he couldn't deny it. But it wasn't enough for her to be just swept along with the currents of his desire. She had to want him just as much. He needed her to want him irrevocably, So much so that when the moment was over she would continue to crave him. It was only then that she would be completely his.
Egil growled as he pulled her shirt closed. His eyes examined the marks he had left in on her skin. Meanwhile, Katelyn's blue eyes looked up to him in shock and began to pool with tears. She was so confused. One moment he wanted her, the next he was sending her away.
This time she was carried away in an entirely different manner. Unable to control her frustration, her hand came up hard and fast slapping him across the face. With that, she left. Leaving behind a stunned Egil and the resounding echo of her displeasure.
Wow, I gotta say as a woman. I would be pissed. You can't help but feel for poor Katelyn here. Egil keeps messing with her to the point of breaking.
Wonder how she is going to react this time?
Stay tuned to find out.
