Chapter 9: 9. Who Gave Him the Right?!

Having at last put on the 'gown' Egil had so graciously given her, Katelyn began to pace her room after he left. Her whole body trembling with pent up fury. At least this was she told herself. All she knew was that since he had left she couldn't calm down, her frantically beating heart was echoing in her ears as clenched her fists at her side.

Who gave him the right. Bastard!! That wasn't even just her first kiss!! It was her first EVERYTHING!! All her life her parents had kept under close observation anytime she was around members of the opposite sex. She had never spoken to one alone or unsupervised let alone touched one or been so close.

Her breath hitched at the memory as she swallowed against a dry throat. Bloody hell!! Her mind was racing repeating every inappropriate cuss she had ever heard from the servants growing up!! Slinging her arm out she punched her wall. Then immediately recoiled from the pain.

Curling her legs into her body she convinced herself to breathe.

" I have to get out. Somehow, there has to be a way!!" She whispered to her empty room. Lord only knew what that man would do next if she were to be left alone at his mercy. She felt herself tremble at the thought. Quickly, her eyes full of anxiety she glanced around her room searching her bed, the blankets, anywhere she could think of. She needed a weapon.

Katelyns frantic search was brought abruptly to a halt as she heard the door begin to creak against its hinges. Immediately she recoiled against the wall as she called out.

"Stay right there. D-don't come any closer.. or or.."

She didn't get to finish that statement as her mouth open, it wasn't the man she had feared it was. Only the older, kinder Eddie who had brought her food earlier. Her relief was so intense at this moment she fell to the floor with a sigh. "Thank god. It's just you!!" The words were almost a prayer as they fell from her lips.

Eddie watched as the girl fell to the floor in relief, while he was happy she wasn't as scared of him as she was Egil he couldn't help but feel a little insulted. What did she mean "just him" Shaking off the slight bruising of his ego he coaxed the girl forward.

"Come lass, it's time I showed ya around. Th'Cap'n wants I should put you to work."

With that he left the room gesturing for her to follow.
