Chapter 6: 6. CHOCOLATE
Three weeks later, and three days before Yuki's birthday.
"This is so not fair, how can you be in Phuket for your birthday!!!!" Hui said, to which Ben added,
"I know right?" and smirked.
"Oh come on, you guys! it's just for 4 days and more over both of you could have joined but no apparently the next campaign is going to be shot without me so we are even I guess?" and punched Ben on his bicep.
"Aw Yuki, you know how all of this gets scheduled but yeah, now let's not waste anymore time and have you pick a chit, come on" Hui said pulling Yuki closer. The deal was to ring in her birthday with an early treat at any one of three most favorite dessert places, since Hui wasn't huge on desserts, she couldn't choose, also Ben hadn't been around a lot so eventually it did boil down to Yuki, who had to choose for herself, one of her three favorite places. Hui decided to make chits and make it easier for the poor girl. Yuki picked the yellow one and it was CRUST.
CRUST was a European dessert place serving desserts from all of Europe in it's most authentic form, one if it's kind in the city. The first words that came out of Yuki's mouth after looking at what the chit had was CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!!! that's right, CRUST was known for its massive chocolate fountain. The three of them immediately drove over. While they were to walk 20 steps from where they had parked to the restaurant, they heard camera clicks. The people standing outside the eatery looked like paparazzi , while Yuki didn't pay any heed and kept walking with her head down, Hui and Ben couldn't help but be confused by what's happening.
"Oh, and I completely forgot to tell you, this place, umm is frequented by a few celebs and I swear that's only because of the amazing food so don't freak out and keep walking." Yuki casually mentioned and continued to walk.
Once they entered through the glass doors, they were taken aback back how vintage but European the interiors looked. Mostly with leather seating and walls painted rustic brown with hints of gold and windows with colorful panes, it looked just like how any cafe would look in Europe. There stood tall the infamous chocolate fountain, with chocolate constantly flowing out of it at all times. The place was nicely lit, seemed quite busy and lively as it was a Sunday, it had ample seating space to accommodate all the guests waiting to devour all that was on the menu.
The three took a seat under the beautiful mini black brass chandeliers in a corner. They were looking through the menu, when Yuki said,
"Honestly guys, I'd rather have us go to Treatkicks only because of how this place gets on a Sunday, the celebs, the paps, super busy eatery...
"WHAA..then why didn't you tell us earlier?
"Ben, the chit said CRUST!!!!"
"Yeah but that was because you couldn't decide, but if it was Treatkicks that you wanted to go to, we could have gone there yaaaa!
"I said, I'd rather have not that I want to and anyway what do you care, aren't you anyway blown away by the menu ?" Yuki shut Ben up.
Though Yuki was the youngest amongst the three, looking at Ben and Yuki have these small little arguments always cracked Hui up. She couldn't help but find it so funny and sometimes just act serious and annoyed to shut them up but definitely be laughing in her head.
30 minutes later, the table was filled with waffles of 3 kinds topped with chocolate/whipped cream/chocolate chips, Ben alone had got 3 different kinds of pancakes, the birthday girl got a rainbow flavored sprinkles cake, Belgian chocolate pastries and 3 different chocolate shakes and coffee frappes. Hui's mind boggled with how much chocolate she saw on the table and asked in a tensed manner,
"Guys, don't you think all this food is a little too much for us three?"
"You bet!!! but who cares, Yuki alone can finish all of this if we can't so don't worry"
"Yeah look who's talking, the man who's got 3 different kinds of pancakes going for him because one or two don't do it for him" and sticks her tongue out to tease him.
Hui is at her third chocolate overload pancake when she realizes that they'll all need more napkins and since the place was so busy, the servers are possibly going to take a while so she gets up herself and goes to fetch them from a counter down a few tables. A server carefully hands her the wet wipes and the napkins and she just turns to return when she sees someone familiar enter the eatery and freezes. She turns into a stone but recollects herself and tries to catch a hurried step when she hears him say,
"Hey there!"
She turns to face him and there he is. Dressed in casual bright red pullover and blue denims. She then also takes notice of the fact that he is here with a group of friends who are now giving her looms as they go on to get a seating space.
"Hey!" Hui says simply, with no expression at all.
"I didn't think I would see you" and then went on to add umm here"
Hui shrugged and with a hand gesture said, "Oh me neither" and then looked around awkwardly.
Aidan then placed his hand on Hui's shoulder and gently held her in place to say, "Don't move" Longhui had lost all sense of herself and the environment around her and gone to heaven by now. He then grabbed a napkin from the bunch Longhui held in her hand, and gently wiped the chocolate off the corners of her mouth. He intently looked at her full lips as he did it but made sure that he was gentle with her. He was at it till he saw no trace of any chocolate and then tossed the same napkin into a bin still looking at Hui in the eye and said,
"There you go"
It was only 5 seconds later that a THANK YOU came out of Longhui's mouth and she hurried to leave.
She walked a step or two and could still feel Aidan's eyes on her back, that's the effect he had on her or maybe that's the effect she had on him that he couldn't get himself to walk away without seeing her out of his sight. She turned and said with a heartfelt smile on her now super sensitive lips,
"See you around, Mr. Hang" She could sense him look down and have a smile on his face as she walked away but only kicked herself inwardly for actually missing out on that.
For some other day maybe.
