Chapter 3: New Beginnings

Ezekiel was flabbergasted, on the top right corner of the screen under a coin with RP written on it had a digit 1 under it. That meant he had one rebirth point. Currently on the screen there were categories to choose from on the right and the middle to left were all option Ezekiel could choose. However, Ezekiel noticed that some categories on were grayed out.

"Why can't I click on some of the categories?" Ezekiel attempted in asking the mechanical voice.

"That is because you do not have enough rebirth points to buy anything within that category." Replied a robotic voice.

The screen in front of Ezekiel only presented him with a few talents he could buy with only 1 point of currency. The talents included "Hardened Hands", "Tenacious Will", "Eagle Eyes", and "Fastened Reflexes". Since Ezekiel only had enough currency to buy one of the talents he was very considerate on what he should get.

"You can click on a skill to see what it does." Said the robotic voice all of a sudden.

Realizing this Ezekiel clicked on each and every one of the skills to see what it does. Hardened Hands: slightly more proficient when it comes to the art of the fist and when using fist related abilities the user does slightly more damage than the average person. Tenacious Will: with will that is uncommon to be found in the average man the user will be able to bear more pain than usual and be able to pay more attention during fights. Eagle Eyes: Giving the user the talent to see further than they were able to before, great for becoming a bowman. Fastened Reflexes: gives the user reflexes and reaction speed that outstrips that of a normal person.

Seeing what each and every one of the skills would offer him Ezekiel was thinking what he should get. He did not want to get Hardened Hands or Eagle Eyes because that will limit himself to one role whereas Tenacious Will and Fastened Reflexes were very flexible when It came to their usage. In the end Ezekiel decided to buy the talent Fastened Reflexes, the reason he bought this one instead of Tenacious Will was because the idea of having better reflexes and reaction time also fascinated Ezekiel as a little kid. A button asking Ezekiel whether or not to confirm the purchase appeared. Ezekiel confirmed with the system. Suddenly white strips of light appeared from the ground and started drilling into the body of Ezekiel. Ezekiel was frightened by the unknown strips of light, however, when it started drilling into his body he felt no pain. The strip of light just phased into his body, with it came a sense of relaxation, the feeling you would get after stretching your back after an entire day of work. The sky went dark and Ezekiel went unconscious.

"AAAHHHHH!" Ezekiel screamed as he woke up.

Ezekiel was still not used to the feeling of being reborn. After calming himself from the rebirth Ezekiel observed his surroundings. He was sitting on the road of a street with his back leaned on the hard cold wall behind him. It was visibly colder here compared to the hut he was reborn in in his previous short life. Ezekiel was shivering in the cold with only pants and a shirt for him to wear. People were hustling back and forth in front of him minding in their own business, none willing to spare Ezekiel a glance. Ezekiel concluded that he was reborn as a homeless child. He was skinny to the bones desperately needing food. Ezekiel stood up with his starving body and begun his search for food. Not far from where Ezekiel woke up from were stationed many vendors selling food such as apples, loafs of bread, and warm soup. The owners of the stalls gave Ezekiel a quick look before returning to trying to get customers to buy their products. Knowing that these people weren't going to give him any food the only path for Ezekiel's survival was to steal.

Ezekiel approached a stall selling fruits and stood somewhere that was out of the vendors field of view. Ezekiel slowly approached the stall with extreme caution trying his best to not generate any sound at all. Eventually Ezekiel was directly behind the owner of the stall without him noticing Ezekiel's existence. Focused, Ezekiel stood there waiting for the perfect time to grab a few apples. Minutes have passed, and Ezekiel stood their unmoving. The golden opportunity has not presented itself yet. Many more minutes have passed and the owner of stall yawned from the long day of work. The golden opportunity has finally presented itself to Ezekiel and Ezekiel was going to latch on to that chance. While the owner was yawning with eyes shut and head facing the sky Ezekiel grabbed as many apples as he could with his two hands before sprinting away from the stall. As soon as the owner of the stall stopped yawning he had noticed Ezekiel stealing his apples. The man yelled on the top of his lungs: "Thief!" and gave chase to Ezekiel. The man was quickly catching up to Ezekiel. His facial expression was terrifying and if he managed to get hold of Ezekiel it definitely wasn't going to end well for him. Ezekiel was running from alley to alley constantly changing the path he took. An interesting thing was when Ezekiel was concentrated everything around him seemed to be slower than usual. Ezekiel concluded that it was probably his talent at work. Because of his fast reaction speed everything around him started to slow down for him. After many more minutes of running from alley to alley the stall, Ezekiel finally lost the stall owner through all the twists and turns. Ezekiel sat down and started to recover his breath. At the same time, he munched down on the food in front of him. Solving the hunger issue Ezekiel now had time to discover more on what kind of planet he was on.

5 years have passed since his rebirth. Ezekiel was now taller than before, and he looked much healthier compared to 5 years ago. Throughout the 5 years Ezekiel has been within the town discovering more about the world with each passing day. He would sleep under a house through a hole he has dug. The hole prevented himself from being soaked from rain and was very cozy because he dug it directly beneath the fireplace of the house above. Whenever he wasn't using the hole he would cover it up with grass he had planted on slabs of plank to blend in with the dirt and grass besides it. Ezekiel would quench his thirst at the river nearby and his hunger by stealing from the stalls. Over the years Ezekiel has gotten much better at stealing things and if he was caught because of his familiarity of the towns layout he was able to out maneuver his chasers easily. Over the years through hearing the discussions of other people Ezekiel realized what kind of world he was in. He was in one of those magical worlds filled with beings that could only be found within books back in his original life. Things like magic and aura existed on his planet. Humans beings able to tear through the very fabric of reality. But of course this world also had its own share of problems such as the infestation of many monsters with many which were very aggressive towards humans. It was around noon that day and Ezekiel was just strolling down the streets like almost every other day, however, he was suddenly grabbed by the throat from someone behind. Ezekiel was struggling to get out of the grasp of the person behind him until he was thrown up against the wall of a house. Ezekiel was then finally able to see his assaulter. The man was clad in military uniform with thick arms and legs. His eyes were sharp giving off the impression that he could stare directly at Ezekiel's soul. Ezekiel was panicking, his heart was beating even faster than when he faced the wolf which eventually killed him. The man in front of him gave off a much more dangerous feeling compared to the wolf. Ezekiel was petrified by the man's stare. He couldn't even move his muscle by the sheer amount of fear he was experiencing. Ezekiel was thinking how he might have offended this man when suddenly the man spoke.

"What is your name, thief?" said the man.

"M-m-my name is E-ezekiel sir." Responded the petrified Ezekiel.

"Did you think no one would notice your crimes young kid?" said the man in military uniform.

Ezekiel didn't know how to respond to the man.

"Now usually I would just slit the throat of a thief, however, I see some potential in you kid. You can either die by my sword or join the military." said the man.

"I guess I have no choice" Ezekiel sighed.

"Hmm, you managed to catch on pretty quickly young fellow. I like smart people." said the man as he turned around.

"Follow me" the man said as he walked away.
