Chapter 10: X. A Tragic Surprise
I saw something unbelievable—
I saw tables full of food. They were uneaten; untouched.
I saw confetti; unopened.
I saw my mom sleeping on a chair. She seemed tired.
I knew she was the one who cooked those and yeah, along with Selena. I knew it the moment I saw the graham cake with design on it. A stick drawing of a kid by Selena.
My mom had woken up and she said, " Have you not seen Selena? She just left few minutes ago. She was waiting for you.".
"What!? It's almost 3 AM. Why did you let her go, Mom?", I almost shouted.
I quickly get the keys of my car and start it on. I followed her.
But I didn't see her anywhere. I reached Selena's house without seeing her.
I was so worried, I knocked on their door inspite of the time being 3 AM.
Her mom showed up and told me she was not there.
"Didn't she go to your house? She said she's gonna be absent for her work today because she's gonna spend someone special's birthday? And I know for sure it is you."
The moment Selena's mom's words entered my ears, I was so down.
I wanna shout to the world and ask it why? Why it didn't let us be happy today? Why?
