Chapter 2: Touching hands
When Rei arrived at the hospital, doctors were asking some questions about the incident. Rei tried to answer as truthfully as possible since everything was going crazily in her head.
As Rei was finished, she waited until the guy opened his eyes. Rei didn't know why but she decided to stay with him
What on earth made him jumping into the pool like that?
When Mik wakes up, he asked where he was. Rei answered him that he was in the hospital because he wasn't breathing. Rei found him in the pool.
Rei asked him, "What happened and why did you do that?" She asked out of curiousity.
"I wanted to kill myself. I guess I failed." He said.
"What made you do that?" She asked.
"You don't need to know." As he faced the other side ignoring Rei.
Stubborn to its finest, thought Rei.
"Fine, if you don't tell me. I'll come and visit you tomorrow. What is your name?" She asked.
"Mik." he answered.
"You're also from the college right?" Rei asked.
"How did you know?" He asked.
"Your sweater. It says the school name. I go to the same school. Nice to meet you. I'm Rei." She said.
"After you recover, let's get to know each other." Rei said.
As Rei left, she kindly left her phone number in case something happened.
Next day, she was in class trying to pay attention when in middle of writing her note, she received a text from the guy her parents want her to date. She ignored the message and kept on writing her note.
When class is over, she went to the library to catch up on some of her reading and reports.
As she finished writing, she yawned and got out to get herself some quick dinner. Just when she decided to go out, that guy texted her again.
What is his problem? She thought.
She got so mad and asked him to stop texting and calling her because she wasn't interested in him.
Sigh.
As she checked her watch, she does have quite a bit of time left. She called a taxi and went to the hospital.
Rei asked the front desk for Mik and she decided to go up and see him.
As Rei opened the door, Mik was crying.
Rei didn't know what to do so she just stood there and put her hand on his shoulder.
After a while, Mik notices.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Visiting you. I didn't have anything else to do for the day." She said.
Mik wiped his tears away and said, "You don't need to come here anymore."
"I want to come. I decided to come. Is that a good reason?" I said.
"I don't need anyone. Leave me alone!" Mik shouted.
"Fine, I'll leave until you tell me what happened the other day." She said.
Mik paused. He didn't say anything for a few minutes.
"My adoptive parents left me. They didn't tell me why. They sold the house too. I have no where to go." Mik said as tears streamed down.
"Come live at my place. I'll ask my parents to find a place for you. You're being discharged tomorrow right? Come meet me tomorrow at 7PM in front of hospital entrance. My dad will pick you up." Rei told him.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" He said.
"We are from the same school. Besides, it's not too good to skip too many classes." Rei replied.
"Come meet me at 7PM tomorrow. Okay?"
Mik didn't understand why would she be generous.
