It's strange how one moment you can be on top of everything and the next, in an impossible instant, your entire world will come crashing down.
I had never taken anything for granted. I was loved by my family; my parents and my brother Alex. I was loved by my boyfriend Sean who I'd been best friends with since the first year of highschool. So why was my whole world taken away from me?
I'm laying down now, thinking and musing, because that's all I have now in this room of white lights and cold, lifeless machines trying to keep my heart beating steady. I should be thinking of my son, my little baby, or Sean or my parents, but all I can think of is the man in the corner. He's there again, tall and pale, I can see him out of the corner of my eye, I watch out of the corner of my eye when people walk passed him, oblivious to his existence. I watch out of the corner of my eye when he looks up, his unkept, greasy, long hair parting and showing a face that looks as though his skin was being stretched out around his head.
He used to scare me, but now, he's just there. He stands there, ignoring me most of the time, but he's always there.
I'm closing my eyes, breathing heavily through the steady, constant bleeping resonating from the machine.
My baby is dead, my boyfriend is dead, and I am going to die. I am going to be reunited with my family and the man in the corner will be someone else's man in the corner.
