Chapter 32: Incomplete

"How are the trees growing now?"

Mika and Lyra walked away from the catacombs. Making their way back to the regal tree before.

Lyra stepped under the honey tree, place her hand on its trunk. A glow flowed from its leaves to Lyra's hand, encircling it. Mika had never seen such a strange thing happen before. She had once toured her father's plantation, touched the trees but they have never responded like that. Retracting her hand, Lyra spotted Mika awed expression.

"The exhilaration of the old ones didn't last for long, once they realize the error of their plot. With the limited trees left and the incomplete writings, they took the last remaining trees, Analise personally grew and transplanted them in their own clan's lands. Each clan has one or two trees at most from the ones Analise planted. The trees you see today are trees under the guidance of the incomplete writing.....This tree has always belonged to the royal family. Our family. "

"How are they able to make the tree grow if they don't have the full process?"

Anyone could see that if these trees were easy to grow, the royal family wouldn't have died for them.

"Over the centuries the clan heads have experimented with Analise's incomplete writing and their gifts. Forcibly combining the two, the trees now are half of what they use to be. That is why certain clans can only produce one species of honey trees. Why do you think the clans pay so much attention to the gifts of the fledglings."

"Mmm...."

Lyra waited when she saw Mika trying to process this information.

"What kind of honey tree are Analise's honey trees then?" Lyra was waiting for her daughter to ask this question.

"Ambrosia"

The fruit of the gods! Mika looked back at the tree. It seems to have grown in size. 'Oh, great great grandmother, planting like a boss.'

"According to my mother, Analise's mother gave her seeds from the fruits of the heavenly domain. With Analise's gift of Nature Manipulation, she was almost able to reproduce the exact replica of the original."

"No wonder it cost them their lives...."

"Mmm...yes, they were true royalty."

Mika reaches out her hand to touch the tree like how her mother did. Wanting to feel the power, entice by its regal present. Her hand closed in. Within an inch of touching it, Mika's mind heard a voice.

"Not yet little one, you are still too young." The voice was deep, male and authoritative. Making Mika feel like she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

Whipping around Mika searched for the source. Her eyes darted all around the chamber. Lyra saw her daughter's peculiar behavior.

"Mika?... What's wrong?" Feeling on edge on with her daughter's constant search. Lyra became worried someone might have followed them here. Dreading the exposure of their identities and the last resting place of the royal family. Lyra took out a short sword. When Mika saw what her mother did she grew confused, 'Mom knows how to use a sword?'.

"Mika, did you sense someone here?" Lyra crouch down in attacking form.

"No, no... the...umm sensations I was getting from the tree threw my perception off. Sorry..."

Mika didn't know why she was covering for the voice but she felt it was in her best interest to.

"Oh,...that's alright. I'll just have a look around first before we leave just to make sure. You stay here. If anything troubling happens run straight towards that room over there..." Pointing Mika in the right direction with her short sword. "in that room, you will find a hidden tunnel that will lead you back towards the city. Understand?"

Once Mika understood, Lyra rushed out to survey the surround areas.

Mika turned back towards the tree. Wondering if she was hearing things or not. She picked up her hand once again and reached forward to touch the tree trunk. This time looking for the voice.

"I know you can hear me. You are too young, do not touch." Though the voice did not yell the force behind it, sent Mika stumbling backward a few steps.

"Who are you? and how am I too young to touch a tree?"

Mika questions the voice through her thoughts. She knew the voice didn't speak out loud the first time, by the way, mother was oblivious to what surprised her. Which led Mika to believe the voice spoke to her in her head.

"The fact that you asked this question, goes to show you are too young."

"If my mother can touch it why can't I?"

Mika refused to believe it was because she was too young. She already felt older than all of her father's children, even though she is the youngest. With her past life's years plus this life's years, she would be close to her thirties.

"Your mother's blood is too weak. She can't even hear me. Let alone awaken the tree with her touch."
