Synz's legs are still crisscrossed as how it has been since noon and he swiftly uses the small device on his hands. His hands move fluently due to the familiar gesture of tapping to get rid of the holographic screen. As soon as the light from the screen leaves him in the darkness of his shadowed room, a clicking noise resounds and Synz puts the elongated device around his head. The previously palm-sized almost-cube device has been elongated into a flexible yet structurally sturdy device that wraps around his head and fits snugly over both his ears. His wrist expertly flicks his glasses off his face and onto a random spot on the floor as his right palm presses flat on the wall beside him.
The wall pings in a low note after recognizing the handprint and DNA structure to be its host's. The material of the wall soon thereafter clicks open and wraps around his hand. It fits around his wrist like a bracelet before plates of metal-like material covers his whole forearm like a glove armor.
"Time to connect now then," Synz mutters under his breath the last words before his sight fades away into black, "Connect True Servers"

Synz's eyes quivers for a bit before the darkness is consumed by the default notification boxes. His fingers twitch and his eyelids open to see the absurd yet familiar sight in front of him. There are barely anyone or anything around him and not all that are around him looks human. The only thing they all seem to have in common are the colorful and variative armor gloves on their right "hand"s. His own glove is covered by the sleeve of the black and grey long coat his avatar[1] wears. Synz's avatar is humanoid seeing as he doesn't want to deal with the additional controls needed for non-humanoid avatars. His originally messy and dirty black hair is now a bright lustrous silver with pale blue tips. Although his eyesight have been set to normal, he still wears a half-frame pair of glasses for convenience. His eyes have also changed from the dark blue it was to a bright and clear purplish red color.
He looks around to try and find any familiar faces but decides against it. It is very possible that his "friends" have changed their avatar again so he wouldn't even bother trying. Instead, he walked through the sparse crowd out of the spawning platform. As he walks down the street, he couldn't help but think back about the colorful and otherworldly "street" around him.
The technology indeed has developed to such magnificence. The True Servers are the main platform of every Yaetroph connection. It connects the minds of those people to the affiliated servers. Of course there are other platforms than True Servers. The company who made the device called the Yaetroph-Interlinker are the ones who first made the True Servers and built a platform for all virtual reality servers.
Yes, virtual reality.
Virtual reality games are still the most popular of the many servers created but there are others ranging from simulations and maps to others used for therapy or the sorts. Servers are mainly divided into private servers, small servers, large servers, public servers and international servers.
In the past, these created inconveniences like changing servers and linkers for every server. That's why the company made the Yaetrophs and introduced the True Servers. At first, there were only around ten large servers and several small servers with the capability of uploading a temporary private server. But the people were ecstatic because it's convenient. Soon thereafter, more server hosts made contracts and joined the True Servers. Others tried to recreate the True Servers but none are as successful.
The main reason is the one feature the True Servers always had. The creation of temporary private servers. Although the size of private and small servers are similar, private servers are special. Before, private servers had to be connected locally, like in a single building. Now, these temporary private servers are guarded by the best VR Security and are also ID-locked. It means only registered accounts of True Servers can enter. People prefer this over many other choices which in turn makes the True Servers soar in popularity.
There's another reason why the Yaetroph-Interlinkers are a lot more favored compared to other hardware VR linkers. The Yaetrophs combines the holographic and neurotransmitting VR-linker technologies to feature the functions that phones and computers used to take while retaining the basic function of being a VR-linker. It took sometime to get used to the change from glass-based touchscreen to the unique controls of the almost cube-shaped device of the Yaetrophs but the kids at the time absolutely loved it. Games, notes, internet, calls, emails, social media, cameras and other softwares just like the previous phone and computers but a lot more compact for home usage. Since it's made of a special transformative material, the Yaetroph-Interlinker soon adopts many forms and features as time passes by. The upgrades made many other imitators and rival companies despair. Despite so the creator of the Yaetrophs and the True Servers along with its platform technology, the mysterious Yaekenshi and his partner Ventisca de Nieve respectively have never been in public conferences and no one even knows their real face. It has been confirmed by the company, Yae-Nieve Tech Co. Ltd. that the pair's "known" name are merely nicknames created for them since they wanted to retain anonymity.
Nowadays, everything revolves around the Yaetrophs and the True Servers. The platform of True Servers itself has turned into a lively meeting place for anyone, anywhere, anytime. True account names are kept a secret since knowing one's true account names could only simply end in disasters. It can be used to make contracts, establish private servers and other administrative settings. Trust is certainly necessary to earn it. Instead, the system provides the people a permanent display name and a customizable server name for use in different servers. The permanent display name is usually used to invite someone to a private server instead of the other party's true account name as well as in virtual messages.
After a while walking down the path, Synz finally arrives at the gates of Catastrophic Realms Online. While the True Servers are only a platform to connect real VR Servers, the materialization it takes is similar to a large street with many "shops" and "buildings" of various sizes and kinds. From small VR Shops akin to the outdated online shops to large servers filled with gathering groups of people, each "gate" is placed sparsely to each other with people going in, out and around them.
Synz snaps out of his daze as his mind scolds himself seeing as he's too caught up in his own thoughts again. As he had paused in the middle of the "street" towards the huge gate of CR Online's Yggdrasil Server. The server itself is an international server despite being mainly filled with people of the Naeptis Continent.
There are three servers corresponding to the five continents; the Yggdrasil Server for the Naeptis where Synz now live, the Kalpavruksham Server for the Kryotera Continent where his father originated from, the Yax Imix Che Server for the Ryuen Continent where his mother originated from, the Gaokerena Server for the Leipthe Continent where the capital sector A-47 of Salacia Area is and the Kabbalah Server for the Eziroth Continent where he was born.
After a few moments of admiring the beautiful and large gate leading to another mystical world filled with quests and adventure, Synz pushes his glasses up with his left hand as his right hand taps on something in the air. He easily navigated through the direct interface to enter CR Online.
"Man, mom really did great on these servers..." Realm Night mutters under his breath as he swipes the direct interface away and steps through the gate. A smirk slowly etches itself on his face as several pings notifies him.

[1] Avatar, Character and Player are different terms.
An Avatar is a representation of the Player and is customizable. The Character is the Player's "role" in a MMORPG or games in general, their "face" while playing or the "looks" for a certain game. It might be customizable according to the server's rules. The Player is the person, generally the real person behind the character or avatar since there are several Roleplay servers that demands a player to act "in-character".
Read more information if you'd like to in the auxiliary chapter 「World Information」 or use the chapter for easy navigation to more information about the world.
Take note that I will only explain the terms on the end of this chapter once. I'll be doing the same for any future new terms.
Also, I'd like to apologize for the information dump. Future chapters won't be like this since there will be no need to explain the established norm and world. We'll discover the worlds with Synz as our eyes then so please bear with me for now :)
