The next few days were the same, Christopher attended different meetings, the only difference was this time, Kaylee was there, with them.
Today was the last day of their busy schedules and they were inside the meeting room.
Kaylee leaned over to Christopher and whispered in his ears. "I'm going to the restroom."
Christopher nodded. His eyes landed on Ethan, who was sitting right next to him. Ethan's arm was resting on the armrest of the swivel chair, and his right hand was on his chin as he looked at Kaylee's back.
Christopher gritted his teeth and glared at Ethan.
Ethan looked at his brother and grinned. He stood up, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to excuse myself for a bit." He said and left the meeting room.
On the way to the restroom. Ethan bumped into Kaylee. He smiled "Hi!"
Kaylee lifted her head to see who it was. She blinked when she saw the man in front of her. She lowered her head. "First master."
Ethan laughed. "Looking great? Seems like you're enjoying yourself."
Kaylee smiled. "You're looking much greater, first master, and of course, I am enjoying myself, working for second master is every employee's dream."
Ethan's face darkened. "You don't need to be so formal, you can call me Ethan."
"What do you mean, first master? It is also my job to respect the bosses. Especially my master's relative."
He smirked. "How much does he pay you? Work with me, I'll double it."
Kaylee raised her right eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
Ethan gave her a mocking laugh. "Come on. You don't need to be shy, name your price."
Kaylee let out a 'Hah!' and looked directly into his eyes. "First of all, I want to say sorry, I cannot accept your offer. The second master is my boss and doesn't have any plans to leave his side unless he says so. Second, even if you offered me ten times more, I will not betray my master."
Ethan grinned and looked at Kaylee from head to toe. "I heard you're his woman. Is that true?"
Kaylee was taken aback.
"What do you think you're doing, Ethan?" Ethan and Kaylee both look at the source of the voice.
Ethan laughed. "Ohya! The boss is here."
Christopher walked toward them, and behind him was Liam, holding the documents in his arms. Christopher gave Ethan a warning look, on the other hand, Ethan waved both hands as if he was saying 'He didn't do anything.'
Christopher held her hand and pulled her back behind him. Ethan looked at their hands with a grin on his face. "Does Sofia know about this?"
Christopher glared at him. "She doesn't need to know, and it's none of her business!"
Kaylee looked at Liam, but Liam just shook his head telling her not to do or say anything. She nodded. She noticed the tension between the brothers. It was her first time seeing them like this. She knew the two didn't get along well, but she didn't expect this.
It is true that the first son was usually the one who should take over the family business, but in their case, the second son was the one who took over.
The resemblance between them cannot be denied, but their personalities and standpoints differ. Christopher was doing his best in his job; their parents entrusted him with the company, and he could not let them down, on the other hand, Ethan was just there to take all that Christopher had.
Ethan whistled and started to walk toward the restroom. "Stay away from Kaylee." Christopher said.
Ethan smiled and waved his hand without looking back. "See you."
Like this? Or not? HEHEHEHEH Tell meee~ I mean, it is still confusing or something?
Christopher was sitting on the couch in the living room, with Kaylee's head resting on his lap, when Liam arrived holding a blue envelope.
The moment Christopher met his eyes, he immediately understood what was in that envelope. He caressed her hair and looked at her. "Hey, can you sit up?"
Kaylee blinked as he looked at the man. "Okay!" she said as she sat up straight on the couch.
Christopher smiled and stood up. He looked at Liam. "On my study room." When he said that, Kaylee stood up.
Christopher looked at her and held her shoulder. He smiled and kissed her forehead. "Stay here, okay? We're just going to discuss something."
Kaylee nodded and sat back on the couch. She sighed as she looked at the disappearing figure of the two men.
Inside the study room. Christopher sat in his swivel chair and Liam sat on the chair in front of him. Liam placed the envelope on the table in front of them.
"They're cousins," Liam said as Christopher opened the envelope.
There are different pictures in the blue envelope.
"Kaylee's parents and her uncle, who is Aria's father, died in a car accident when she was four. After that accident, her grandmother took care of her." Liam shows Christopher the picture of Kaylee's aunt.
"Based on what I've found out. After that Aria and her mother told Kaylee that her grandmother died, and they didn't treat Kaylee well. She can't find a decent job because she was told to do all the household chores and they don't let them use the computer. They even told the guards not to let her leave the house." Liam said while looking at Christopher.
Christopher frowned as his grip on the picture tightened. "How did she end up passing her resume to us?"
Liam knew Christopher was already in a bad mood. He sighed. "I am guessing that Kaylee sneaked out that night. That Aria and her Mother were on a vacation at that time."
Christopher let out a deep sigh. He massaged his temple and looked again at Liam. He needed Kaylee right now before he could do anything bad. "Anything else?"
Liam stayed silent for seconds. "The thing is... Kaylee's grandmother is still alive."
Christopher turned his head to Liam. "What?" He cleared his throat, "Where is she then?"
Liam took out another picture and let Christopher see it. "She's at the hospital. She's suffering from heart disease. I heard she needed emergency treatment, but her family just left her there. The hospital tried to reach out to her family, but failed."
Christopher opened his table's drawer and took his check. "Pay for her treatment. I want you to visit her from time to time. Wait— how did you get this information?"
Liam smiled. "I said, Kaylee, asked me to check her grandmother, and guess what they've said?"
Christopher glared at him. "Just say it!"
"You must be Miss Kaylee's husband?"
Christopher raised his right eyebrow. "And I said, my boss, is." Liam continued.
"Why did they think Kaylee has a husband?" Christopher asked while massaging his temple. He can't take this anymore.
"They said that's what Kaylee's aunt said to her grandmother. They even said that her aunt told her Kaylee wouldn't be coming because she ran away from home and married someone they didn't know."
Christopher stood up and walked toward the door. "Transfer her to a big hospital and make sure she's going to recover." He said before leaving the study room.
Gonna update one chapter per day only. I'm trying to save more chapters in my draft so only one chapter per day for now.
