Chapter 4: finding a merchant

one box will let me change armor and other stuff easily. another box displays the items inside my inventory, just like in games. theres one slot for each type and a number displaying how many of them are there. theres also a scroll bar. probably because there are many slots. i do hope the number of slots increase as i store more items in my storage. another box is grayed out. i cant probably use it right now. the last box displays the amount of money i have. theres the 1,000 bronze i obtained when i was transfered here. theres 15+ million pesos and theres 15 copper coins. theres also a small tick box. when i clicked on it a table appeared.

1 bronze coin = 10 copper coins

1 silver coin = 10 bronze coins

1 gold coin = 10 silver coins

1 mithril coin = 1000 gold coins

the copper coins should be from selling the box of canned tuna. so i clicked on a slot that has the picture of the box of canned in it and sold it. then i checked and there it was. i now have 30 copper coins. i scrolled through the items and found some of the useless things i have put in my inventory. theres trash, rocks as well as things that would be a pain to move like old damaged machines that i found near the warehouse.

i gained several hundred copper coins from selling all those junk and trash. this is a good thing. in this apocalypse to survive one must be able to hunt monsters. and the only weapons that would work on monsters can only be bought from the alien merchants. the first batch of goblins that would appear tomorrow will be weakened and easily killed. but the next batch cant be killed by bullets. at that point if you didnt pick up the coins that dropped from killing goblins then you would be in deep trouble.

its still a few hours before the apocalypse. ill just sleep for now. when the merchant shows up im gonna buy a good weapon and maybe an armor.

i woke up a few minutes before the start of apocalypse. i changed into comfortable shirt and jeans. sneakers and a leather jacket. then i opened the warehouse and walked towards the outskirts of the city.

while walking i noticed the sky turning black. several million portals opened and i can see a strange light coming from the portal. one of them pointed right in front of me. after the light faded in front of me appeared several thousands of goblins. i pulled out the guns i bought from some shady people and started shooting.

it would be hard to pick up the coins among this pile of dead goblins. so i just concentrated at their remains and stored it. my range right now is several dozen meters. when i first discovered that i can store things without touching it my range is only 2 meters. now its reached several dozen meters.

after cleaning up the area by basically storing everything i checked my inventory. now i have 7,234 copper coins. i sold all the goblin remains and gained some more copper coins.

i walked back into the city killing some more goblins along the way. just as i was about to enter the city, several hundred thunders flashed and hit various parts of the city. one of them struck just a dozen meters in front of me. instead of charred earth and burning things, what appeared from the thunder is a 12 foot humanoid wearing a wizards robe. this must be the alien merchant.

some people immediately shot the merchant. the bullets bounced because of an invisible shield protecting the merchant.

unlike those people, i approached the merchant. the shield enveloped me when i declared my intent to purchase items. others tried to follow my example to get inside the shield. unfortunately the merchant banned them from purchasing anything for 2 days.

"greetings friend. im here to loot your wares." i smiled, pulled out copper coins from my storage and showed it to the merchant.

"my name is me-anne. an elf merchant." as the merchant spoke, she removed her hood. she is just like how elves were portrayed in stories. with beauty that can destroy kingdoms.

"10 copper coins for the cheapest dagger. the cheapest sword costs 50 copper coins. basic food packs costs 2 coins each. if you want to see more items you must have more than a thousand copper coins. (10 bronze coins).

"i have many coins. let me see the items." from my pockets i produced 10 bronze coins. shock was visible from the elf's face as she looked at the coins.

"very well. feel free to look around." a simple move of her hand and two screens appeared in front of me. one displays her wares. while the other displays my inventory. she goes on to explain that a free storage space with ten slots will be given on the first time one meets a merchant. a ring appeared on my hand. its the free storage space.

what me-anne didnt know is that i already have my own storage space. as for the ring since its bound, no one can use it other than me. might as well use it to hide my storage skill.

i scrolled a few times and found enchanted bows priced at 500 bronze coins. it comes with a space storage quiver. the storage quiver can store up to a million arrows. what i liked about this bow is that its automatic. it will float around me and shoot arrows to any monster within its range. i used all my copper coins to buy many arrows.

next, i used a hundred bronze coins to purchase a set of armor. the last thing i need is a way to travel. somehow my luck is good and i found a dozen gluttonous jungle cats. these are familiars that will grow stronger the more they are fed. they have one downside though. they eat too much and when they are hungry they cant fight. when they grow to maturity then their appetite normalizes. but before they are mature, one meal of each gluttonous jungle cats is enough to feed an army. thats why most gluttonous jungle cats die due to hunger.

i bought all the gluttonous jungle cats me-anne is selling for a total of 120 bronze coins. they will be my ride and protection. as for food, it will be the monsters i will kill. i spent 80 bronze coins to purchase food, 50 bronze coins to buy various potions and the remaining 150 bronze coins was used to buy more arrows.

all purchased items was sent directly into my storage. there was a notification asking which storage i want the items to be placed. i choose to store it in my storage skill. as for the gluttonous jungle cats, me-anne explained that they are in their egg form and can be placed inside the storage. when they are taken outside the storage then they will begin to hatch within minutes hatch.

gluttonous jungle cats eat a lot. if a day goes by where they were unable to eat until they are full then they will die. and while they are hungry they cant fight. its possible to feed a gluttonous jungle cat to force it to mature early. the more it eats, the more it ages until it becomes mature enough.
