With a light heart, Feng Qi walked into the corridor outside of his room. The corridor looked completely empty, however the ominous feeling made him aware that it wasn't as it seemed. He had the impulse to call out for her, filled with excitement to see her again.
His lips pressed together, suppressing the urge. Knowing Meng, she might not come if he looked eager. Holding in the inner desire to see the little devil Feng Qi walked stiffly down the halfway.
Thankfully, his patience paid off. The slightest sound of a jingle appeared from behind him. If he hadn't recently reached the 6th level of cultivation he definitely wouldn't have heard it.
A bit of shock flittered across his face. For her to reach this level...the little devil is really too amazing. A small smile grew on his face that only him and the empty corridor in front of him knew of, before a rag hid it from the world.
Just like before being in her arms made him feel at peace even if it was a horrible attempt at a choke hold. And just like before he peacefully went to sleep in her arms.
...
Meng raised her eyebrows. Wasn't this a bit too easy? She had expected to come and wait for a few days before getting the drop on Feng Qi. After all, the five shadows were normally always around protecting him. Also he himself wasn't the type to go down so easily... Was he sick?
She looked down at the boy in her arms with worry as she reached out and felt his forehead. "No fever." Meng mumbled to herself in confusion. He was probably frozen in shock then.
Regardless of what happened she didn't have time to think on it. His guards could come back at any second and the time limit she had to fix him was minimal. Waiting here would mean losing her chance for a very long time something the Meng would not let happen.
She lifted Feng Qi up, Feeling the pain in her broken arm, Meng shifted Feng Qi's weight to her stronger one, before doing a quick once over on the corridor. It seemed that her luck was exemplar today.
...
With quick movements, Meng made her way sneakily through the palace. The old Ru Gu Meng had a torture chamber stationed in the lower corridors near the dungeon making her mission a lot easier. It was a convenient location that didn't require her passing many servants or officials.
Thinking about the old Ru Gu Meng, Meng's face scrunched up. When she first transmigrated she hated the fact that she became this character because the character tortured Feng Qi and as time went on her hate for the character grew stronger.
Honestly when she first heard her master suggest torture she was a bit skeptical. She didn't have any past experience to compare it to, but torturing Feng Qi seemed like the exact opposite thing she wanted to do. That was until she thought about it clearly.
Prior to her transformation, Ru Gu Meng would torture and attack Feng Qi daily. This would destroy any other child completely from the excruciating pain they felt daily. Yet, Feng Qi stayed strong throughout all of it and still had the backbone to stay strong when he was banished from the Sun Kingdom.
The torturing didn't hurt him, instead it made him stronger. With the destiny his life would take, being stronger was essential. Therefore, playing the old Ru Gu Meng was essential to him.
Her head hurt as she forced a thought into it. Feng Qi's only importance was his ability to sooth the thoughts in her head, other than that he is worthless.
Meng reached the lower palace and closely analyzed the walls. She knew in the book that Ru Gu Meng's torture chamber was hidden in the wall.
Before the book's pages became her memories, she would of never known this as she didn't pay much attention to Ru Gu Meng.
Her attention was always drawn to Feng Qi, her savior, and all she knew about Ru Gu Meng is that she tortured Feng Qi.
Things like her torture chamber location and her relationship with the emperor were all unknown to her. If she didn't absorb 'Defying Monnlight' she would be truly lost right now.
Reaching a wall that was slightly darker than the others, Meng set Feng Qi down against another way. The wall was made out of stone blocks, each one lined perfectly up against the other.
Meng closed her eyes and focused on the image of the old Ru Gu Meng entering this area. Lifting her hand, Meng followed the old Ru Gu Meng actions step by step, pressing her hand against the inconsistent stone.
