Chapter 6: To the skies

Lucille awoke, not knowing how much time had elapsed but judging by how refreshed she felt, quite a while. Before admiring herself she scanned her surroundings, the wolves seemed to have temporarily forgotten her as they were now munching on the grounddragon, ignoring their dead packmates. Such comradery, so commendable, they deserve a badge for best buddy's ever. Sarcasm aside, damn Lucille, you look hella cool. She had decided on the way of the assasin, the dark poison dragon. She was now as tall as a smartcar which would be about as tall as the average human meaning around 1,7 meters. Along with her increase in height that she quite enjoyed, she was now around 5 meters long, double her previous length. This meant that she was practically falling off the branch she rested on. Twas a miracle the branch hadn't broken under her not particularly light self. She carefully made her way back towards the treetrunk, shaking the tree in the process which of course drew the attention of her canine buddies. "Wonderful" she grumbled as they resumed their infernal barking.

Ignoring the increasingly annoying pooches who were barking up the wrong tree, she continued inspecting her new vessel. Other than the change in size, her claws had also seen a qualitative imrovement. They glinted menacingly when they caught the sunlight and they were quite a bit longer. Thin green veins could be seen starting from the base of each of her claws until the tips that were an almost neon green. They screamed "poisonous! no touchy!". She imagined that her horns would have a green tinge instead of orange. Which would make sense since green seemed to represent poison? Again she was basing this on her game knowledge, she was never a very logical person, now dragon, but she could tell the obvious.

Last but not least were her wings, they were now 5 meters in width running from her shoulder blades to her haunches. She could feel the strong chest muscles and large lungs that would allow her to take flight.

She was elated, she had always wondered what flight would be like. Call it a childhood dream of sorts. Taking a deep breath, Lucille climbed to the top of the tree and slowly unfolded her wings, stretching them to their fullest. Excitement and aprehension filled her as she prepared to jump. Was this how you were supposed to do it? She wondered, she didn't know anything about flight but birds threw their young out of the nest when they assumed they were ready so she would do the same. With that thought in mind, she launched herself off of the branch she was on and flapped her wings. For a while, all she could feel was air rushing past her as she frantically tried to get her wings to be im sync. It took a few stressful seconds that felt like hours for Lucille's wings to catch the wind. She laughed gleefully as a gust brought her higher into the sky. She could see the almost endless silver forest all around her as well as the mountains in the distance. She relished the view and the view, it was as exhilarating as it was unreal, she was flying! The ground was far below her and the sky spread out endlessly above her. She felt free and for the first time really accepted thst she wasn't in the reality she had grown up in. She just hoped it wasn't all a wonderful dream because that would be cruel.

After her little joyride in the sky, she realised that she was LOST. She had flown much too far and of course all the trees looked the same. The sun was hanging low in the sky, about to disappear behind the mountains to the west. Well fudge, lost in a gameworld without any knowledge or map, fudgetastic!

She didn't have long before nightfall, no time to dally. Her best bet was to fly towards the closest mountainrange to see if she could find a cave or a shelter of some sort.

Flying for extended periods of time proved to be exhausting therefore after flying for about an hour her wings started feeling like rocks and mountainrange was still quite a distance away. She was having trouble keeping up the rythmic movements of her wings and the wind was all but GONE leaving her without support, just her luck.

Lacking the fortitude to continue her journey, she flew towards a tree to attempt a landing. As she approached the silver tree, her wings tangled in the many branches and if she tried clawing her way through the dense leaves, she ended up cutting the branches supporting her. She roared in frustration as she struggled to release herself from the tree's grasp on her. How the heck did she even get stuck, she was a dragon, the reptiles you see decimating army's and sh*t! WHY! Shouldn't she be out there kickin monster butt or something badass like that? Nope, she was stuck in a tree.

As she was grumbling her complaints, "Greetings my unfortunate player!" a deep voice sounded behind her. Needless to say she was scared into silence, she dared not move a muscle. After not hearimg the voice for a few minutes, she slowly turned her head around only to be blinded by a bright light and taunted by a muffled chuckle. She hissed in pain and embarassment as her vision was filled with blotches that wouldn't stop moving. "Why the heck are you glowing?!" she screeched at the now discernable figure that was shamelessly blinding her with it's annoying light. She squinted her eyes at the thing as it slowly came forward, the light following it.

-"Apologies for your very unfortunate fate, but do not fret, I am here to enlighten you.

-"Yeah you are doing a lot of enlightening here and I would appreciate it if you STOPPED! Its blinding me and by the way who the truffles are you and wait how can you understand me? What is going on...?!" she rambled on until the glowing figure interrupted her,

-"I know you have a plethora of questions but now is not the time!"

The figure snapped his fingers and Lucille and the glowing person disappeared leaving noting but small particles of light in their wake.
