Chapter 2: # Friendship

The twins were going 60 along the highway with Jamee driving the car. They were singing along to whatever the radio plays. They sang like it was their concert.
"Jamee, seriously, you got to take voice lessons. Your loud screeching is hurting my ears."
James said while plugging his ears with his index fingers.
"Really? Says the guy whose voice made children cry when he sang a lullaby at dad's kindergarten?"
Jamee laughed while recalling the moment.
"Shut up. You're just jealous cause dad picked me to come with him to "bring your child to work day" instead of you."
James retorted.
"Yeah, because dad misspelled my name on the permission slip, "Please excuse my daughter, James Conner..."
Jamee remarked trying to control her laughter.
"Well, they couldn't have made two different names for their twins, so just change the last letter of the first name."
James points out.
"Yeah."
Jamee replied while maneuvering the car and parking it between two large cars.
"Welp, we're here. And you're driving home later."
"Yeah. Sure."
Jamee ran, dodging every person in her way. She was headed towards the usual spot she and her friends hang out.
Their own secret garden at the school's mini forest. Complete with a run-down stone bench and table. They always meet up there before they go to their class, eat lunch and snacks, and gossip around. It's literally like a second home to them.
Jamee arrived at the usual spot, but she did not see Tina and Maddy. She sat there to catch her breath.
"Well, this is a first. I'll just wait here, and write about the first time I arrived first at our, not so secret, secret garden in my journal to pass the time."
Jamee took out her journal and started writing.
"July 3, 2018; This princess got to sing with birds. Mom made too many pancakes for our dear hoboes, Tim and Ray Ray. James, as usual, is a weirdo who I think was raised at a farm with pigs as his companions. And for the first time in history, I arrived at the garden before Tina and Maddy. My day started so good, nothing could bring me down."
The school bell suddenly rang, time for the first subject.
"And here goes the bell. Guess I'm flying solo for today."
Jamee wrote before gathering her things and left.
The corridors were busy with students loitering and running around. It was very crowded and noisy, you can't even hear yourself think.
"Excuse me, excuse me. EXCUSE ME! LATE STUDENT, COMING THROUGH!"
Jamee exclaimed as she tries to get past the crowd. When she arrived, she faced towards the crowd and said,
"Thank you."
While bowing, not minding what the people would think.
When she continued inside the room, she saw Tina and Maddy gossiping. She was curious of why they did not wait at the garden so she approached and sat next to them.
"Backstabbing much?"
While grinning and arranging her things on her chair.
"Backstabbing?? Who said anything about backstabbing?"
Maddy nervously said.
"Mads, relax, chill. Okay? I was just kidding."
Jamee said, reassuring Maddy.
"Why didn't you guys wait for me at the HQ?"
Jamee said while looking for her notebook. Tina and Maddy exchanged a knowing look like they were hiding something.
"Oh. Uhm, we had some—"
Tina said while looking at Maddy for help with an excuse.
"Stuff."
Maddy added. Tina then looked at her getting irritated at how Maddy was useless.
"Yeah, some stuff."
Tina repeated.
Jamee looked at them suspiciously.
"Stuff?"
She asked, staring at them for clarification.
"Guys, seriously, if you're talking about drugs, I swear I'm going to turn you—"
Before Jamee could finish what she was saying, Tina covered her mouth.
"Ssshhh! What— are you crazy? Are you trying to get us in trouble?"
Tina exclaimed in a whispery voice.
"Well, soooorry."
Jamee said while trying to compose herself after getting attacked by a vicious hand. And Tina wiping her hand onto her skirt because she could have sworn that Jamee licked her hand.
They went silent for a moment then Jamee broke the silence.
"So ARE you—"
"NO!"
Tina shouted. Startling everybody in the room. Everyone was now staring her. Tina then covered her face. And Jamee just laughed.
"Okay, okay. So what were you talking about earlier?"
Jamee asked.
"Just some stuff."
Maddy replied.
"Oh my gosh! Again with the stuff?!"
Tina exclaimed. Jamee stared.
"Are you guys okay? Are you fighting, or something?"
Jamee asked, getting more curious.
"No. If you must know, we were just talking about—"
Tina said, pausing to think about what she was going to say. Jamee, waiting for her.
"Trevor."
Tina continued, while looking at Jamee for a reaction.
"Trevor?? What about Trevor???"
Jamee asked, getting excited.
Trevor is Jamee's neighbor and long time crush. She is so obsessed with him. She knows all his subjects, schedule, likes, dislikes, everything about him. And the only people who know about her secret is Tina and Maddy. She talks about him everyday, making Tina and Maddy know about his life too.
"We were talking about how we think he likes you too."
Tina said. Maddy looked at Tina, confused.
"Reallyyyy??? Why? Why? Why?"
Jamee getting excited and impatient.
"He talks to me about you all the time. He's so into you."
Tina said. Maddy getting really confused.
"Oh my gosh! This is truly the best day ever! I'm gonna write this on my journal. I shall mark the day I found out that Trevor McKenzie also likes me."
While Jamee was writing on her journal, Maddy whispered to Tina.
"I thought Trevor liked YOU?"
"Ssshh. All will be revealed soon."
Tina slyly said. Jamee was just finishing her writing.
"And this just in, Trevor likes me too."
Jamee murmured while writing. Suddenly their professor comes in.
"Okay class, good morning."
The class responded, others still sounding sleepy. Jamee still having the biggest smile ever.
"Let her enjoy it first."
Tina added.
