Chapter 3: Reasons
*Knock knock*
I knock on Jayden's (the Prince's) Study door.
Raven: It's Raven.
Prince: Oh, come on in.
I open the door and he greet me with a smile.
Prince: Unusual to see- who's this?
Jaiden fixes his eyes on Clay.
Adam: I, uh...
Clay struggles for words. Thought Jayden doesn't have an intimidating personality, people struggle to communicate with him since he tends to give off a superior aura. I quickly step in.
Raven: He is an immigrant, from Kasana. He wants to take military training here.
I explain Jaiden about everything Clay told me.
Jayden: Oh, I see. But, wanting to be part of the military at hmm... 23/24 seems off. You must have some reasons.
Jayden plops his chin on his elbow and narrows his eyes at Clay.
Adam: I do.
Jayden: Let me guess, it's for a girl isn't it?
Jayden smirks. There he goes again with his nonsense. I look over at Clay and see that his cheeks are slightly red. Looks like he hit the nail on the head. But why would he go this far for a girl? Jayden seems to enjoy this.
Jayden: Bull's eye, huh? Though, something tells me that your reason is too shallow.
The easy-going look from Jaiden's face vanishes and he squints his eyes at him. I was thinking the same thing. Is he lying?
Adam: She... She likes the Count. I'm no match for him. So, I thought if I could become a military officer on a high rank, she would accept me.
Raven: But what's the point of trying to woo her if she's not interested?
Adam & Jayden: It's worth a try. Clay looks at Jayden in surprise, clearly confused how he said the same thing as him. I'm not confused though. I know exactly what that look on Jayden's face means...
