As she came back to her senses she found herself kneeling in the middle of her coffee table in the living room. The knife still in hand she looked around slowly. Not a lot of time past but the damage was already done.
Lying around was what once was: some cushions, the sofa, stacks of papers and bowls all shattered, shredded and eviscerated.
Worried and completely drained she looked at herself trying to find anything positive.
This time she wasn't too hurt.
This time it must have been quiet.
This time no police officer was holding her down.
This time she was alone.
Until next time.
However, the darkness of her mind drew closer but it was her own which at this point was a little comforting. Empty and depressed she wasn't going to catch any sleep tonight. No more shadows around but the memories lingered.
She didn't want to remember but the images were stuck to her like mud between her toes.
She forced herself to calm down and cut every emotion as to remain empty so the memories couldn't find their way in. But what about tomorrow?
She wanted to keep her job a little longer. Unfortunately for her, she had drawn the attention of a few unwanted people.
