Chapter 1: The Mortals That He Loves

Being a god meant that you were invincible, omnipotent, and governed over the mortals who lived in the world below. Being a god also meant you spent an eternity living in boredom. Some gods would disagree, but that depended on their jobs in the first place. Being the God of Freedom gave you freedom to do anything, but that also implied that you didn't need to do anything in the first place.

Unlike the God of Life and Death, or the God of Fate, the God of Freedom was free most of the time. He was also a god who did not have any restriction placed on him because he was liberty itself. He watched people born and die, worlds created and destroyed, only for the cycle to repeat itself again and again.

He never partook in any of these mortals' affairs because he was a god, and they were just weak creatures. He had no place interfering with them, but his principals weren't unaffected by the tides of time.

Spending eons not even having a proper name except for his title as a God of Freedom did that to you. The only entertainment that he had was watching the humans' imaginations gave birth to fictional worlds that were not supposed to exist.

These fictional worlds, for him, were fascinating to say the least. There were always drama, tragedy, and conflicts. Not to say that Earth did not have these, but there was a wider variety in which the tragedies took form.

He found himself enamored with the characters that lived in this world. A rare sense of love even bloomed in him. He had consulted with the Goddess of Love, and while gods were not as promiscuous as the mortals, they did feel the desire to have a romantic relationship. However, his current love towards the characters that turned alive was that of a parent to a child.

It was the first time the God of Freedom had heard of such a thing, to which he was told that he was too cut off from the World by the Goddess of Creation.

In regards to this, he had indeed agreed he was too out of touch from everything. Then again, everything except for the lesser worlds under the governance of the Goddess of Creation did not catch his interest, this being the reason for his seclusion from the rest of the World in the first place.

The God of Freedom then made a deal with the Goddess of Creation. In exchange to solving conflicts or preventing as little tragedy as possible in her worlds, he would be able to go to any of her worlds in exchange.

Of course, the Goddess of Creation had warned him that because of his power as a god, he would experience pain when he descended from their realm to the mortals' because no mortal body could fully accommodate a god. It was not like he could go down as he was, because his presence alone would destroy the world.

Usually, the Goddess of Creation would just let the worlds under her management to just go by their courses, but it had been far too long since the worlds became stagnant. Therefore, when the God of Freedom came to her with the deal, she had accepted it. Well, she didn't care as much about those worlds; she did it more out of favor for the God of Freedom than anything else.

Now, it was time for the God of Freedom to descend into one of the Goddess of Creation's worlds: Seraph of the End, the problematic world that came about from a certain author's imagination and writing.

As the world was born and was no longer just a piece of writing brought about by some people, the fate and 'storyline' of the mortals' who lived in there could be changed. Because these were worlds existed because of humans' creations, the God of Fate and the God of Life and Death did not have administration over them. Instead, they fell into the Goddess of Creation's jurisdiction.

"You do know that you can't use your divine powers as a god while you're down there unless you want to destroy the world itself, right?" The Goddess of Creation asked.

"Of course. I'll be careful. It's not like I'll have any need for my divine powers anyway."

"Well, you might use it to revive the dead in the future for all I know, and nobody can stop you. You are called as the God of Freedom for a reason." The Goddess of Creation sighed.

"Haha, that's quite true." The God of Freedom chuckled and his silver eyes crinkled.

"Now you are making me worried. I did say for you to solve the conflicts, but don't take it seriously. These are just some lesser worlds after all."

"Well, the mortals are an interesting and lovable bunch, so I can't promise anything. Anyways, thank you for letting me enter and meddle into your worlds." He smiled and his figure turned into tiny particles of light that went downwards to the lesser worlds.

The Goddess of Creation sighed. "I hope these worlds could retain your interest, God of Freedom."

The God of Freedom opened his eyes to a ruined building in Harajuku. His current outward form was akin to a human's, but he didn't need the basic necessities such as food because he was a god. He merely took on the physical form of a human because it helped him to fit in and observe the mortals at a closer distance.

Gods had exceptional looks, especially the Goddess of Love. The God of Freedom was not an exception to this. His appearance did not belong in the mortal world. He retained his looks even though he had descended. His hair was pure white, and his skin was flawless.

His looks were captivating, but it was unlike the Goddess of Love's where one would lose themselves in her beauty if they were not a god. Even so, many gods had fell for her and asked her for her hand-in-marriage.

The God of Freedom was clad in a simple apparel of a white buttoned cardigan with black trims over his white-striped green shirt. He wore a pair of sleek black pants for the bottom and had a black headphone on.

He was listening to the music produced by the God of Music and hummed along the tune. His only weapon was in the form of a black ring on his right index finger, which could turn into a sword. Overall, he thought that his style was fabulous even if it was not the standard way that the people in this world dressed themselves.

He walked out of the dilapidated building and into the streets. The first thing he saw was a group of five people from the Demon Company fighting several Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They were struggling to fight off the Horsemen and were surrounded by all sides. They seemed to be retreating.

The God of Freedom looked at the group of humans. He smiled as he spotted a girl with long blonde hair tied up in pigtails and had a pair of purple eyes.

Sangū Mitsuba, one of characters in the lead cast of the Seraph of the End world. This was the moment where her squad leader would die and this shall be a tragic experience for her. The other humans too, would be traumatized and their moment of disbelief led to their demise. Mitsuba would be the only one who survived the tragedy

He could not let that happen. Before one of the humans get into trouble, he would eliminate the mindless monsters. When the threat was no longer there, he would be able to interact with the mortals.

The humans had not noticed his presence yet. He lifted his right hand and the black ring turned into wisps of black smoke before materializing as a sword of the same color.

He jumped into the battlefield and instantly killed a Horseman of the Apocalypse cornering the humans from the side. He then landed on top of the monster's corpse with grace.

The God of Freedom gave a gentle smile. "Do you mind if I help?"

"Be on guard!" A male human with an armband on his left arm warned his teammates. He was the squad leader.

All of them turned towards the God of Freedom. He chuckled, and kicked off from the monster's corpse to simultaneously slay two of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse in front of them.

"Let's talk later when you guys are under better circumstances. First, let me assist you in getting rid of these abominations."

He jumped from the ground once more to reach another Horseman. With each slash of his sword, a monster was killed. Soon, in a blink of an eye, all of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse were annihilated.

Blood dripped from his sword while none of the liquid had touched his figure as he remained clean. He approached the five humans with a small smile on his face.

"Get into formation!" The squad leader commanded. The God of Freedom could see them gulp down their fear and apprehension.

"I'd rather not fight. Instead, like I have mentioned, let's have a chat." His black sword turned into black smoke and went back to its form on his finger.

"A manifestation-type Cursed Gear?!" Mitsuba gripped her battle axe.

"Well, it's not. Are you curious about my weapon? Sure, I'll tell you about it if you guys agree to have a conversation with me." He took off his headphones and pointed at his ears. "See? I'm not a vampire and I mean you guys no harm. I killed the monsters because you guys were in trouble."

Only then did they put their weapons down, but their shoulders were still tensed. Clearly, they did not trust the God of Freedom in front of them.

The squad leader demanded, "Who are you?! State your name!" He narrowed his eyes as the God of Freedom was too far to make out any of his features except for his white hair and clothes.

'The humans are so cute,' the god thought.

He continued walking towards them and replied, "I don't have a name. Why don't you give me one?"
