Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The event that sealed fate.

"... Uhhg..."

The one thing that woke the young boy up was the sudden change from the soft, warm texture of his mattress to a much stronger, icy texture.

"Ahhhhh, damn it, my back..."

As he struggled to get up, his eyes took some time to get used to the environment. He noticed that he was absolutely not in his room as he recalls, but in a place that was familiar to him, his school, more precisely, on the second floor of the school.

"What the hell am I doing in high school?"

He could determine this by looking through the windows to his left. Leaning against the wooden railing, he saw that no vehicle was present in front of the entrance, which seemed unusual.

"hmm.... It seems there's no one here... That's weird."

He tried to look at the time with his watch, but strangely enough, it was not on his wrist. He searched the pockets of his blue jeans and grey jacket, but absolutely nothing was present, not even his cell phone.

'So basically, I'm at school with nothing... There's something wrong, it's not possible! I don't even have my bag ! '

The boy tried to think about the absurdity of the situation but it was just to avoid having to confront it.

He wandered around the second floor for a few minutes, looking in the classrooms for people still present, but this place was empty.

As he walked, he reached the bottom of the second floor, where the physics rooms were located. As he approached, he heard a strange noise, as if someone was eating something.

He noticed that one of the rooms had the door open. As he approached, his heart began to beat faster and faster, as if it was trying to warn him of a danger.

When he looked around, his instinct shouted at him to run, what he saw was atrocious. A humanoid form surrounded by smoke was devouring what he seemed to be a student.

'RUN ! RUN ! RUN ! RUN ! RUN ! RUN ! RUN !'

His mind was invaded by this one thought, as if his fate would be decided at that very moment.

Following his instincts, he began to run with all his strength, going down the stairs at full speed at the risk of wallowing. He looked behind him, but it seems that this monster was not following him. He stopped for a moment to breathe.

"Calm down, Tom, calm down..."

The sudden noise of a thing comming at full speed disturbed him.

His eyes moved towards this thing. When Tom saw that this monster was coming at him, he realized that he absolutely had to avoid being touched by this entity, otherwise he would meet Hades himself.

By dodging the monster's load more or less clumsily, Tom continued to descend the stairs at a frantic pace. As he turned to see if the abomination was behind him, he was stunned after being pushed into the wall. He took this opportunity and kept running away.

Thinking about his endurance, he decided to hide in a classroom on the first floor. The door of the latter was already open. He entered, immediately closed the door, and put a chair to block the handle. He sat down on one of the chairs and tried to gather what little spirit he had left.

'Think Tom, think. Start at the beginning.'

First of all, he tried to remember the last thing he had done. He remembered finishing his math homework and packing his bag with his French stuff. After that, he turned off the light in his room and lay down in his bed. Then, nothing more. He had no clue to understand this madness.

'Damn it! What the hell is going on? And what's this thing following me?'

As he examined the room, he saw a stepladder and tools in the right corner of the room. At this point, the ceiling was dismantled.

'Yes ! I remember that !'

Suddenly, he remembered something. When he went down the stairs to the canteen, he saw two adults in that room, fixing something in the ceiling, probably the projector, that's what he thought at the time.

His period of reflection was interrupted by footsteps coming from behind the door. He placed his hand on his mouth and did his best to avoid making any noise that could compromise his position.

'DON'T COME ! DON'T COME ! DON'T COME !'

This is the wish of this boy during this moment that seemed to be an eternity for him.

The steps gradually moved away. Tom sighed with relief, for him it was a great success.

He got up quietly and headed for the place where the stepladder was. He grabs a wrench from among the various tools scattered on the ground.

'Well, it has little range, but at least I can defend myself.'

Finally having a weapon, he walked towards the door and took off the chair. At that moment, a sound of broken glass resounded in the room, turning around. He saw that the entity had gone through the window.

Without thinking, he opened the door and ran away. The monster had almost touched Tom, but he managed to escape before.

Continuing his descent, both mentally and physically, he finally reached the ground floor. There, he continued his journey until he reached the courtyard. Here, he headed for the high school chapel.

Unfortunately, the latter was locked. He sat down, desperate, and noticed something strange.

A reddish liquid flowed along his arm and spread over the ground.

'FUCK ! What the hell is this?! Why am I bleeding!'

Not knowing what to do, he tore his white t-shirt, which was now soaked in blood and made himself a poor quality bandage. The wound was not deep, but it still hurt like hell.

For him, none of it made sense, none of it seemed real. Yet the pain and fatigue he was feeling at the time was indescribable.

There was no time to waste. He got up and headed for the only place that made sense to him, the gym. Strangely, he heard nothing, not even the sound of the wind, only the sound of his footsteps kept him company. He did not hesitate to look through the windows of the school classes to see if anyone was present, but no one, everyone had disappeared.

He climbed the few steps at the entrance to the gym and opened the double door. He closed it immediately. Thinking of a way to survive, he examined the gym. He saw at his right the gym mattresses, he took one, and placed it more or less easily to the door in order to block it or at least slow it down. He repeated the process three times, in order to have some confidence.

"Well, I have a little time,... I should find a more appropriate weapon. Maybe in the room, I'll find something.

Inside the gym, he went down the stairs to the various changing rooms. He turned right and continued on his way until he reached the door of the room, where all the sports equipment was stored. He grabbed the handle, but despite his efforts, the door didn't move a muscle.

"W-Why?! Why am I out of luck ?!"

In anger, he kicked the door, but as if the door was laughing at him, it still didn't move.

Desperate, he took the opposite path and returned to the main gym room. He noticed that the volleyball facilities had been stowed on the side and that only two basketball baskets remained on the field. On the sides were benches to allow the different teachers to explain the instructions before the students started to warm up.

He went to the benches on his right and saw that there was still a table. The latter allowed the different teachers to write. He turned it over as if to make a shield and pushed it against the benches to create protection. According to him, he could at least survive a blow if he was hit.

Suddenly, an explosion occurred, not at the front door as he had planned, but on the ceiling. That monster blew the ceilling off to surprise Tom. His eyes widened as he saw the monster running towards him, he couldn't do anything. He had crouched down to try to surprise him, but in the end, he was the prey.

'FUCK ! SHIT ! WHY !?'

Many thoughts overwhelmed Tom's mind, most of them were foolish questions to avoid facing the problem before him. But, buried in his mind, a thought told him to bet everything, to fight as much as he could. Listening to this last thought, he charged towards the entity, a wrench in his hand.

For him, time had slowed down, the adrenaline running through his body was probably the cause. He rolled to the left side to avoid a hit from the creature and tried to give him a hit to the abdomen. But what he saw plunged him into a despair that was still unknown to him. The weapon had stopped a few centimetres from the monster's abdomen, as if a force field was blocking it in the air.

He didn't have time to think because the monster, having seen the boy's pathetic attempt, used that moment to kick him out with his claw. Tom flew towards the wall at the back of the gym, the shock against it made him spit blood.

His thoughts faded and his vision began to diminish, the only thing he could still see was that monster, moving slowly towards him, like a predator playing with its prey.

For Tom, everything was over, nothing could save him anymore, only a miracle could. But, isn't that weird ? When you can't explain something, you always think of divine intervention, as well as problems. People want to reassure themselves as best they can.

'So I'm going to die like this?..... At least I would have tried to do something...'

Preparing for the inevitable, Tom chooses to keep his eyes open to see death in the face, as if he was once again defying his tragic destiny. Even if his body was broken, he still wouldn't give up his vision.

At that moment, when everything was supposed to end, something improbable happened. Tom's right wall exploded and a person entered the gym. The first thing he saw was not it eyes, much less it hair, and not it body, but the scarf that this person was wearing. A purple scarf, this color represented the royal families, but for Tom, at that time, it represented hope.

The monster made an almost robotic movement towards the source of the noise, but was cut in half before he had time to identify the cause of the crash.

Tom's forces were beginning to leave him, his spirit was about to leave, but the mysterious person approached him. Tom was finally able to see what her savior looked like. She was a girl with long blond hair, sublimated by teal blue eyes. As for her outfit, it consisted of a grey jacket comparable to his, a tracksuit as trousers and white sneakers.

"Well, we don't really have time, but you can ask a question!"

She says this with a joyful expression, as if all this didn't matter to her.

'Do you really think this is the time? Well... For the short time I have left...'

- "Why-Why did it take you so long?"

Of all the questions she expected, it was the only one she had not anticipated. We can even say that the boy in front of her had managed to surprise her.

-" Ahahahahahahahahahahaha..."

She laughed as if she had just heard a joke, it didn't really make Tom happy.

"Ah.... Frankly, you're amazing, not only did you stand up to an Outsider, but you're also asking me the only question that could embarrass me!"

Externally, Tom was literally dying, but inside, a smile was emerging.... As if he was proud of what he did.

"Well, I guess you want the answer? Let's say that.... I got lost..."

If Tom was still able to move, he would probably have laughed his lungs out, but for now, this answer made him smile falsely.

"Good! Now it's my turn! What's your first name?!"

Every sentence she said was full of joy, she could make a dead man smile again, let's say it's not very different than making a boy smile at the gates of death.

"T-Tom..."

"Very good! I hope to see you again sometime!"

This sentence made him laugh inside.

'See each other again? I'm gonna die any second, don't get your hopes up for nothing...'

That is what he would have liked to say if he still had the ability to do so.

"Well, this place is about to be destroyed, so... I'm going to leave! But first..."

A sword appeared in her right hand, which was not ordinary. There was electricals circuits on it, and a red color propagated through it.

"Have sweet sweet dreams!"

Her sword beheaded him cleanly, no pain occurred, everything had happened in less than a second, but despite that, his brain had managed to understand what she had said. His last thought was...

"Sweet dreams, huh? Thank you... WAIT! How did you know that I was fighting this monster if you weren't there yet?!

He could not see his death and even less have his answer, but the only thing he knew was that from the moment she appeared, he wasn't afraid anymore...
