Chapter 57: Liars go to hell
Xia Meilin wasn't going to be fooled by his statement, so the best way to deal with him was by ignoring him.
They entered the car and were driven back to Little Melon's school.
"Are you free tomorrow?" He asked as he looked at her.
"I guess so, why do you ask?"
He rested his back against the seat. "I want you to attend the Charity gala with me tomorrow night."
She blinked a few times as she turned to look at him, "Charity gala?"
"Mm."
"Okay... will we be bringing Xiao Gua?"
"No. He needs to sleep early as he has class the following day, he would be too tired if we bring him."
"I see... Then, I will let him know about this." Even if she wanted to bring him, Lu Yifeng was right. Little Melon was going to school now, she couldn't allow him to accompany her and let him stay up late.
When they arrived at the school gate and got down from the car, everyone was looking their way. They entered the school and saw Little Melon waiting by the school's entrance.
Little Melon was happily chatting with his new friends and there were a couple of them, even a couple of little girls would smile with a blush on their cheeks when they got noticed by Little Melon.
When he saw his parents, Little Melon waved goodbye to his new friends before he rushed to his parents. "Momma! Dada!"
Xia Meilin bent down and caught Little Melon in her arms, "It looks like you had a fun day."
"Yes! Mello made a lot of friends!" He grinned happily.
Xia Meilin scooped him up, "I'm so happy for you." She smiled back at him.
"Look dada! Mello has three stars on either hand!" He proudly showed his hands with red stars on it.
Lu Yifeng patted his head, with a small smile on his lips he said, "Good job."
The other kids who were waiting for their parents and the parents of the other children couldn't help but take a glance at the beautiful family of three.
"Mello's mama and papa look good too."
"His papa looks like Mello."
"I wish my papa and mama look as pretty as them."
While they were walking out of the school grounds, Little Melon kept on talking to his parents about what happened during his first day of school. He even mentioned all his new friends' names to them until they entered the car.
Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin were listening patiently to him and would sometimes insert comments.
It wasn't long before they arrived at their place, Lu Residence.
"Welcome back, master, madam, young master." Mo Jing greeted with a smile. "The dinner will be ready soon."
"Thank you, Auntie Mo Jing." Little Melon smiled at her before he entered the house with his parents.
"Call us once it's ready." Xia Meilin told Mo Jing.
"Yes, madam."
Xia Meilin accompanied Little Melon to his room and helped him change his clothes while Lu Yifeng headed straight to his study. It was just then that her phone vibrated. When she took a peek on it, she saw that received a message from her WeChat.
[Hey. It's me, Feng Ning. I will be coming back to China on Wednesday. I just wanted to let you know.]
Xia Meilin's face brightened up when she read his message that's why she instantly gave him a reply, [I'm free on Wednesday. I can pick you up if you want.]
Feng Ning: [Really? That would be great. I can't wait to see you, Xiao Mei.]
A faint blush appeared on her cheeks when she saw his reply. Feng Ning was her first love and she couldn't help but smile every time she thought about him. [Me too.]
She kept her phone after that, her mood all better. When she turned her head, she met Little Melon's judgmental gaze.
Little Melon had just finished changing into his cute panda onesie, "Why is Momma smiling at her phone?"
Xia Meilin couldn't help but feel guilty with the way Little Melon was looking at her. She was already married to his father and yet, she was thinking about another man.
"I was just looking at your photos. Let's go, baby."
Seeing his mother's nose twitched, Little Melon knew that Xia Meilin was lying. "Liars go to hell, Momma."
"I'm not-
They were interrupted by sudden a knock at the door. When Xia Meilin went to open the door, she saw Lu Yifeng, wearing a plain T-shirt and slacks.
"Time for dinner."
"Y-yes. Let's go, baby." Xia Meilin held Little Melon's hand and walked out of his room.
Little Melon was pouting the whole way, he didn't like it when his mother was lying to him.
Lu Yifeng noticed that Little Melon wasn't in a good mood that's why he couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"
"Momma is lying to Mello." Little Melon puffed out his chubby cheeks before he turned to look up at his mother.
Xia Meilin inwardly panicked. How could her son tell that she was lying? "I'm not!"
Lu Yifeng saw how her nose twitched, hence he was able to know that she was. He learned this during his previous life.
As they reached the dining room, Lu Yifeng carried Little Melon and placed him on his usual seat before he sat beside him. "Why do you think your mother is lying?"
"Momma was smiling at her phone. Momma said she was looking at Mello's photos but she's lying."
Ever since the day Lu Yifeng told Little Melon the truth about being his father, Little Melon started becoming observant of his mother.
Lu Yifeng turned to Xia Meilin and this made her nervous. She wasn't cheating or anything, right? So... she didn't really have to hide it from them, but... Little Melon didn't like her conversing with other men and... Lu Yifeng might discover that the man she'd be meeting was actually the man she loved.
She knew it wasn't right to love another man because she was a married woman now, but she was forced into this marriage and the man she really loved was her childhood friend.
For him, she was willing to divorce Lu Yifeng but she knew that was impossible; she didn't want her son to have a broken family.
Was she not allowed to experience the love and happiness from the man she loved? But Xia Meilin could only sacrifice everything and let go of her old love. Little Melon was one of the best things that happened to her and as a mother, she wanted her beloved son to be happy.
"Nothing, it was just a message from a friend. I am going to pick him up from the airport on Wednesday."
"Him?" Lu Yifeng and Little Melon questioned simultaneously.
Xia Meilin wanted to cry, how could the father and son duo treat her this way?

Chapter 58: You're mine
Lu Yifeng's eyes became cold and Little Melon started pouting again.
She sighed when she saw the looks on their faces. Could they just stop making her feel so guilty? "He's just a friend. Come on, let's just eat already."
The two boys before her continued looking at her which made her uneasy.
"Momma, no no to other men, Momma promised." Little Melon crossed his arms. "Only Dada."
Lu Yifeng nodded in agreement. Little Melon was really his son, there's no doubt about that.
"Yes, yes." She sighed in defeat, "Now could we please have our dinner peacefully?"
"I want to talk with you after this," said Lu Yifeng before he started eating.
"Mello wants to talk to Momma too, but Mello will allow Dada to talk to Momma first." Little Melon followed his father's actions by picking up his chopsticks.
The two of them started eating in sync. Xia Meilin couldn't help but get nervous because of what Lu Yifeng told her. Why did he want to talk to her?
After dinner, Little Melon was taken to his playroom by Mo Jing while Xia Meilin and Lu Yifeng went to his study room.
As soon as they entered the study room, Lu Yifeng asked, "Who is he?"
"Feng Ning, my childhood friend." She answered without any hesitation since she didn't want to make the matter worse. Besides, Lu Yifeng wouldn't know that he was actually her first love.
Lu Yifeng's eyes darkened and that was because of that man that Xia Meilin tried leaving him a couple of times in his previous life. It was because of him that Xia Meilin couldn't love him. He knew very well that Feng Ning was her first love and the man that she would always love.
He was her childhood friend and she loved him for so many years. He was the reason why Xia Meilin refused to date other men. She stayed single and waited for him to come back. If the incident between Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin didn't happen, she could have dated and married Feng Ning already.
After finally learning about his hideout in his past life, Lu Yifeng could only order his brother to kill him. Lu Yifeng's whole body was full of jealousy towards this man. Lu Yifeng envied Feng Ning because of Xia Meilin's continuous love and affection for him over the years.
He clenched his fists and tried containing the anger that welled up in his chest. He never liked that man, he never will. "You are not allowed to meet him on Wednesday."
Lu Yifeng was afraid, afraid that the moment she met Feng Ning, she would be stolen by him.
She furrowed her brows when she heard what he said. He can't just order her around! "I'm just going to pick him up. It's been so long since I last saw my childhood friend so why can't I go?"
The air in the room dropped and Xia Meilin felt a chill run down her spine.
"If I said no, it's a no. That's final."
This time, Xia Meilin was able to see the part most people described when she saw the way he looked at her, cold and aloof. He was a scary person that one should not try to cross.
"You don't have the right to decide things for me!" She wouldn't back off, she has the right to make her own decisions. She would not allow him to threaten her again.
Seeing that Xia Meilin was standing up for that man just how she did back then, it made Lu Yifeng crazy mad.
He took a step closer to her as he looked at her with a menacing glare, "You will listen to me. You are only allowed to be with me."
Xia Meilin wanted to hide but her dignity and pride wouldn't allow her to do so, sh badly wanted to see Feng Ning. She stood her ground as she looked at him straight in the eyes. "Listen to you? Be with you? You cannot control me, Lu Yifeng. I have the right to do whatever I want! I never wanted this marriage in the first place! You're the one who threatened me to marry you! I have the right to love whoever I want!"
When he heard her words, something inside him snapped. He grabbed her chin and squeezed it tight which made her flinch from the pain. "You're mine, do you understand? Mine!"
"I'm not yours!" She growled, "I am not an object that-"
She was cut off when he kissed her lips hard. Xia Meilin tried to push him away but he was too strong for her. This time, fear filled her whole body as she was reminded of her past, "N... No!"
She was cornered against the door and her wrists were pinned against it.
Xia Meilin could feel the tip of his tongue intruding her mouth. She tried struggling again but he wouldn't budge. He ripped off her shirt and moved his kisses to her neck, biting and marking her before he moved his kisses to her chest.
She burst out in tears when she thought that he was going to rape her again, she cried and begged, "Please... Lu Yifeng... Please don't do this..."
Hearing her broken voice made him snap out and pull away. He saw her wet face and eyes filled with fear, her body was shivering as she covered her chest.
"M... Meilin..." He tried reaching out to her but she shrank back in fear.
He clenched his fists and turned away. He lost control... he couldn't believe that he lost control of himself...
"GET OUT!" He shouted in anger. He didn't want her to be in the same room as him in fear that he might completely lose it.
His loud voice that resounded throughout the room made her more afraid of him, she thought that he was mad. This time, she hurriedly went out of his room and ran to her room, crying.
He walked and kicked his table in anger before he covered his face with his palms. Just like that, he lost control. He told himself that he would not make the same mistake, he would not force her or make her cry, but this time... he wasn't able to control his temper. He was so angry, angry at himself for allowing his temper to get ahead of himself.
