Chapter 2: This Idiot.

At this time, the slime launched through the air finally lands near the trio.

The Trio instantly surround it.

"Dammit, we're just an outer squad of the Exploration Division. Just how the hell did we catch the attention of that thing so much that he'd send a minion after us?"

These thoughts raced through everyone's heads, but no one let these thoughts distract them; as they may die in a moment of distraction.

Right now Suri had a thought. Perhaps the giant slime; only recognized our existence after our strength was showed by defeating the corrupted tiger? Suri shared these thoughts.

And right now after hearing this Suris' words that made so much sense but at the same time no sense, everyone had the same thought.

Run

The trio looked at each other, all of them with the same knowing thought.

"One…"

"Two…"

"Three…"

"RUN RUN IT'S TIME TO GO!"

...

The slime stood there, watching those people who ran away from it. It bobbled at a moderate but ultimately many times slower pace towards the trio in a feeble attempt to catch up.

Even though these three don't have the highest strength or own the strongest items, to the average person their own strength and speed was impressive. After all, they were soldiers equipped with magic speed boosting accessories. Even though it wasn't at the level of traveling a hundred feet with a single step, they could still travel at a consistent 34mph.

"Ah…" After many hours of running, the trio was exhausted. They were overjoyed, for having outrun the danger. Little did they know that the only reason they had escaped was that the slime overlord seen back attacking the shelter needed all it's minions, at it was engaged with a fearsome battle with City Lord Verdies, a fearsome mage known to have slayed some of the strongest beings known to mankind. Otherwise, not even a normal person posing no threat would have escaped. It could be said they left at the right moment.

"Crack…"

Mothly looked at a token in his hand. It signified the barrier protecting the innermost part of the shelter, Verdies' castle. It had just cracked. This would never happen unless Verdies was dead. If Verdies is dead, so is everyone else.

"Damn..."

A thought went through Feroos mind.

....Did we just abandon all the lives in the shelter?

"Well well, and you guys didn't believe me when I said we had to leave, see what we did now!." Suri stood there, brushing her chest in contempt.

'You said we had to run? Why are you taking credit for this???'

'Rumble...' Right now, although they wanted to keep running, their stomachs refused to believe they wouldn't eat.

'Purr'

The faint purr of a rabbit could be heard by the nearby bushes.

...

At this moment, Feroos' hands were shaking. It seemed the realization of what actually just happened had come to him. Unlike the other two, he actually had friends and family in Verdies Shelter. To think he had abandoned them in such a nonchalant manner and acted to carefree earlier?

"What's wrong, can't go on?" Mothly smiled looking at this guy in front of him. This can't be right, he should have much more stamina than me, how could not be able to continue already?

Right now this Feroo lifted his head looking at Mothly, there was some disbelief in his eyes.

"You…" Seeing this guy before him acting to strange, even a monkey could see something was wrong. Afterwards, Feroo roared out loud, "GOD DAMN IT!"

Suri was waiting precisely for this moment, she knew about his emotions, but she could offer no help until he releases them. "Feroo, I know your thinking, but listen to me real quick."

"If we had stayed, we could have died with them, but now that we left, we can get revenge for them."

Feroo stayed silent.

As long as we stay alive, we have every future opens, if we die, there's no future.

....

"I know, but it just doesn't feel right…"

"Hows this, we'll go back there in a few months."

"....."

"Yeah we'll do that."

.....

At this time, Mothly, who was listening to the entire conversation, but was not good with conversation, reappeared. It seemed they didn't notice he left.

He brought back an arrow, on which a rabbit was on the other edge.

Mothly gathered wood, and started a fire to cook said rabbit on.

After a moment of silence, Suri spoke up again.

"See, Feroo, even though i'm sure we're all affected by what just happened, we need to focus and survive. We can't let this bring us down forever, can we? What will are friends in heaven think when they see us in such a pathetic state."

Seeing Feroo being consoled, Mothly started to act.

"Sob Sob… How come I feel like crying so much just from listening to you? From now on you're our Big Sis."

...

Feroo was just shamelessly lied to. He was actually the only one who actually had any emotional attachment to the shelter, and Mothly is so cold towards these emotions, that even if he did love the shelter and everything in it, it wouldn't show. That was a ploy to get Feroo back on track. Feroo wouldn't have noticed due to his emotional state.

Indeed, it worked. Seeing Mothly who would never show any kind of negative emotion 'cry' like that brought Feroo back to reality.

That's right, i'm not the only one that cares, but I can't let this bring me down forever!

...

Right now, Feroo was extremely motivated to work. Seeing Mothly 'work so hard in ensuring survival' (Catching a single rabbit), Feroo set off, motivated, into the nearby woods.

Thats alot better, thought Suri, as the two started eating.

.....

Two hours later.

28/30.

There's still 2 rabbits left, please don't fail me, legs.

After the motivation from the rest of the trio, Feroo went out to catch food for survival.

Originally set of to catch just one or two rabbits, Feroo slightly lost his mind in his 'quest for survival' and set a goal of 30 rabbits.

"Squee"

Hearing the faint rabbit noise, Feroos eyes nearly glowed as he took out his sword and chased at high speeds.

"F*ck…"

His legs were so tired, that he was finding it hard to catch up.

....

"Alright, I'm looking for him, bye."

After eating, Mothly stood up and left into the forest.

....

At this moment, Feroo was completely insane. He had saw a tiny lizard, and thought that just one type of animal wasn't nutritious enough, so he went over and chased the lizard instead. Who would have thought that this tiny lizard would actually fight back?

Right now, Mothly had seen many many blood splatters in the forest. Obviously something was amiss, so he went back and got Suri as reinforcement.

"Holy Sh*t, this is literally just a normal patch of grass and trees, what the hell could have happened."

The still warm corpses of rabbits could be seen all over the place, some whole, some dismembered.

Soon, their attention was brought to a small clearing, of which the noise of fighting could be heard.

As they approached the clearing, they could see the scene more clearly.

At this moment, they would see a scene that they would never forget in their life.

Right now, Feroo was crawling on the ground on all fours, with his sword in his mouth.

He was currently facing off against an earth drake, a giant lizard-like creature that specializes in the defence

The two stared at Feroo, dumbfoundedly.

They could only mutter one word as they looked at him

"This Idiot."
