Chapter 197: Druggie!
The nurse got up to feed her some water.
Katherine Bradford tried to move her body. But all she felt was pain especially in the lower half of her body. She felt a throbbing pain in her head too. She could feel her entire body still burning due to the residual effects of the drug. Hence, she couldn't bring herself to drink the water.
The nurse inserted a straw for her to drink the water. With no much strength left, even drawing in water from the straw seemed very hard. After sometime, she managed to gulp down a sip of water along her dry, parched throat.
Katherine Bradford finally found her voice, "W-Who are you? W-W-Where am I?" She stuttered.
"You're on Medical Parole at the hospital. We'll send you back to the Judicial Magistrate's custody once you get fine." The nurse briefly said.
Katherine Bradford's mouth twitched on listening to her explanation. She frowned. "M-Medical Parole? But why?"
The nurse let out a sarcastic laughter. "Don't try to act smart with me you druggie!"
"D-Druggie? And me?" Katherine Bradford felt her legs go wobbly with every piece of information. She still tried to speak. "But nurse, there should be some kind of misunderstanding. I didn't take in any sort of drugs."
The nurse laughed wryly. "Every culprit, at first tries to feign innocence. I keep seeing culprits like you every single day. And you're no different from them."
She then pulled out the reports from the locker in her bedside table and held it out for Katherine Bradford to see. "Fine! Can you explain these? You've been tested positive for 'XYZ' drug which is the most potent aphrodisiac known till now. You can look at your blood reports."
Katherine Bradford lifted her hands with great difficulty. She could see bruises all over her pearly white hands. She felt horrible to look at her own hands. At the moment she decided to ignore it and deal with it later. She picked up the reports and glanced through it.
The reports were like a bolt out of the blue. Katherine Bradford could now feel her heart racing. Her pupils dilated with disbelief. She held onto her head which was still throbbing with pain. 'What on earth went wrong! I clearly remember everything about last night until I gave the drink to Jayne. I momentarily came in to talk to Adam. Did Adam drug me by any chance?'
As if she remembered the most important thing, 'Where is Jayne Roy? If my position is in itself so bad, she must probably be even dead by now!' In spite of the miserable condition she was in, she managed to smirk.
The nurse's voice pulled her back to reality. "So you mean to say these reports are all fake? If that's the case, why would the cops raid your house and bring you here in the first place?" The nurse interrogated her icily without a hint of warmth like she does to a criminal.
Katherine Bradford was shell-shocked by now. She looked at the nurse wide-eyed. "A-Arrest? R-Raid? I don't understand what you're saying." She had beads of perspiration rolling down her forehead.
"Oh right you were so drugged, that you didn't even realise the cops coming in and raiding your house. Currently, your house is besieged until further notice. You and your shameful gang were sedated and brought here to the hospital. You all were in such a pathetically disgusting state that none of us felt even an ounce of sympathy for you guys." The nurse herself sneered with disgust.
She continued, "But being in the medical field, it was our primary duty to treat you guys and we did just that." The nurse folded her hands loathsomely and walked away to inform the doctor that she was awake now.
Katherine Bradford begged with all her voice. "Please let me meet Adam Clive!"
The nurse didn't pay heed to her request and walked away.
Katherine Bradford began introspecting. "I'm definitely sure that something is amiss! If I can get to speak to Adam, he'll be able to tell me how did this happen…." She balled her fists with rage, thrumming through her veins.
She peered down her body. She was ruefully shocked beyond words to look at her own naked body beneath the covers. Her pearly white skin now shone with those miserable red bite marks and bruises.
Looking at it, she guessed the reason why her entire body ached. "Does that mean, I actually drank the aphrodisiac and they all took advantage of me being drugged? Wait a minute! Didn't I plan this entire scene for Jayne Roy? Then, how on earth did I end up being the one drugged? Shouldn't Jayne Roy be the one in my place? Is my head muddled up or the situation? What's happening!!! I need Adam!" She almost screamed with resentment.
