Qiu Yuhan smiled his disgusting signature smile, sending the already murderous Lu Cheng oozing off a strong cold presence. The innocence in his grin made her furious. How could such a malicious person have such gentle emotions? She simply couldn't understand it. All she knew was how much a she desired to rip him into pieces.
Every atom of her entire being hated him, hated him for breaking her heart, for toying with her, but mainly... for wasting so much of her time.
Lu Cheng's overwhelming cold presence was immediately retraced. The anger in her eyes subsided and the raging feelings once found inside of her heart disappeared.
A bitter smile formed on her face as she remembered all the special places Qiu Yuhan had taken her. He had brought her to fancy restaurants and made her feel as if she was truly special, like she was worth something. He had bought her many expensive trinkets, gifting them to her with a loving embrace.
Those were the happiest weeks of her life... But for every sliver of happiness, there would always be mountains and mountains of pain and regret.
The feeling that her entire world had been destroyed, shattered into millions of tiny shards... it was still held deep within her.
I'll never leave you. You're my soulmate. I could never live without you.
Lu Cheng scoffed silently. She couldn't believe how naïve she used to be... She had trusted every word that had come out of his filthy mouth.
When Qiu Yuhan broke up with her, she began to lose touch with the outside world. Even thoughts of suicide had crossed her mind. Since she was an orphan, there was no one there to comfort her in her darkest time... well, expect ger one person.
Lu Cheng stole a quick glance at Tan Lin and felt a sense of warmness she had never felt from Qiu Yuhan.
Her best friend had never left her side... Lu Cheng smiled and felt a tear drop down.
She wiped her tear away before anyone had noticed and looked at Qiu Yuhan fiercely.
"What are you doing here, Qiu Yuhan?" Lu Cheng said emotionlessly.
Qiu Yuhan looked down upon her with a sliver of contempt when he noticed Su Jiang. With the heavy light, Qiu Yuhan repeated the same mistake Tan Lin had; he hadn't recognized Su Jiang.
"Pathetic," Qiu Yuhan spat out.
Lu Cheng's, Su Jiang's, Tan Lin's and even the bartender's expressions turned frosty.
"Is this where you've been after I dumped you? Hanging out and a lousy bar, playing with old men?" Qiu Yuhan chuckled, his already enormous ego being nurtured.
Qiu Yuhan then looked at Su Jiang and sighed.
"I somewhat pity you, that once you got a little taste of heaven, you fell right back to earth," Qiu Yuhan said mockingly. After throwing a few more scornful glances, he left without another word.
Su Jiang watched the man walk away, his hand becoming a fist almost instantly. It wasn't until now that he had even realized how deep his nails were digging into his palm. Qiu Yuhan... he would remember that name.
Tan Lin made the first action in the rarely silent bar. Usually it was bustling with activity, but it was as if it were fate, all the usuals had left to make for Qiu Yuhan's arrival. Only the four people were left, bartender included.
"You okay?" Tan Lin sighed and sat down next to Lu Cheng, placing her hand on her shoulder. Lu Cheng nodded slowly, her arm trembling a bit.
Su Jiang felt a strong desire to be next to her, to comfort her like Tan Lin was. But he knew it wasn't the time. Even though it wasn't him next to her, after seeing how much better she seemed, he felt that it was still ok. Although he wanted to hold her hand and tell her it was alright, this was enough.
Su Jiang walked up to them slowly.
"Qiu Yuhan? Your ex that you have business with?" Su Jiang asked.
Lu Cheng nodded with a rare vulnerable side. She looked at him with tears in her eyes, and Su Jiang felt a pain in her chest. Seeing his beloved in so much pain, a part of him felt a strong sadness for her and a strong disappointment for himself.
Why wasn't he good enough for her to love him like Qiu Yuhan? What did Qiu Yuhan that he didn't? And how could he take her pain away?
