Chapter 31: If you beg me...

From that time on, everybody started talking behind her back, and everybody especially the boys tried to avoid her except Jolo, Gary, and some random workers on the farm. So she became more and more isolated and alone. So that her dad will not be put in a difficult situation, she decided to just avoid her own dad. Luckily, Jolo seemed not to be affected by everything that was said about her thus making him an outcast within his own home. Yes, that was how cruel Celine is, outcasting her own son just because he still befriended Christine.

Her head seems to explode just thinking about it. Everything just became clear to her and she felt like laughing and crying at the same time. With a heavy heart, she decided to leave and go back to her grandpa.

While Christine was contemplating alone in her room and trying to reflect on the things that happened the moment she came her, Celine was hysterical downstairs and was urging Joseph to throw Christine out of the mansion.

Marlon and his friends, as well as the girls, were already sent home by Gary after the commotion. Everybody has their opinion about Christine which was ignited by Celine and seeing Celine so hysterical, Jackson cannot do anything. He can't believe that Christine has been using drugs but seeing the piece of plastic that Joseph showed him, he was convinced. Joseph is a righteous man, he believes in him.

Jackson just sat there, in deep thought. He blames himself for not spending time with her daughter, if he was there for her, she is sure that Christine will not turn to drugs. He doesn't want Christine to go to jail but he doesn't want her to be sent away either. However, Celine was so determined and he is sure that the police will believe Celine and not Christine. He felt his heart being crushed. Either option would mean that he will not see his daughter again.

"How many times do I have to tell you that she is a bad influence, she is a slut trying to seduce each and every man she meets, and now DRUGS!!!", she was almost shouting while pacing back and forth in the middle of the living room.

Joseph was in deep thought, his fists are clenched while he was sitting and watching his mother pacing in front of him. Jolo was sitting opposite him, his head down and his hands in between his legs. Joseph has a feeling that Jolo and his friends did not tell him the truth but he just can't get Jolo or the rest of his friends to talk.

"You have to send her away right at this moment or the police will drag her out of my house!" Celine continued ranting and forcing Joseph.

Jolo and Joseph looked at her in disbelief. Jolo now felt the weight of what they did to Christine. She will either be sent away by Joseph or will be sent to jail. He felt so guilty but he can't go against his mother. He is caught between telling the truth to save Christine or keep quiet so he will not go to jail if in case her mother will call the police. He can't implicate Marlon, his father is the chief of police. He is such in a difficult situation and he can't do anything about it. He is so scared, scared of what will Joseph do to him, scared of what his mother will do, and sad for Christine.

Joseph was also in a difficult situation. If he will not send Christine away, Celine will call the police and Christine will be put in jail.

"I don't... I don't want Christine to be put in jail...please", Jackson begged, looked at Joseph helplessly.

Celine snorted and faced him.

"That is where she should be but since she is your daughter, I will not tell Leonilo as long as she will be sent back to her grandfather", she said looking at Jackson. Leonilo is Marlon's father, the chief of Police and her friend.

Jackson's shoulders dropped, he is helpless. He can't stand up for his daughter, he can't go against Celine's will. He was just told by Celine the other day that she is expecting a baby and he can't compromise it. He just looked at Joseph, giving his silent permission to send Christine back to M City. She would be better off there with her grandfather. He is sure that her grandfather will take good care of her.

Joseph understood what Jackson was trying to tell him. He nodded, looked at his mother and Jolo and stood up. He went upstairs and headed towards Christine's room.

Knock, knock, knock and then he opened the door. Christine was sitting on the bed, staring at the blank wall and did not even bother to glance at him when he entered the room.

"My things are packed, I am ready to go", she said without any emotion. She stood up and took the luggage that she prepared earlier. It was already past midnight but she doesn't care, she has decided.

"Can I ask Gary to send me to the pier?", she asked without even looking at him. He was trying to lock gazes with her to see or figure out what she is thinking this whole time. He wanted her to beg him not to send her away but here she is, so proud and arrogant even after what happened. Knowing that her stay in the mansion depended on him, she is not afraid even a little bit.

She walked past him but before she could do that, Joseph caught her hand and stopped her. He turned her to look at him.

"I will decide what will happen to you. If you are going to ask me to keep you here, I can do that even without my mother's approval. All you need to do is tell me everything and ask", he said keeping her gaze. Deep inside he was hoping that she will beg him to stay.

"I don't have any intention to stay here any longer. I don't belong here. Everybody doesn't want me here and I don't want to be here either", she said looking straight into his eyes but turned away abruptly. His eyes are so captivating, full of mystery, there is anger but at the same time there is tenderness and she doesn't want to confuse herself.

She must leave this place. What she said about the place is not true, she loves the place. She loves the smell of the newly cut grasses, the chirping of the birds, the horses, the rivers, the plantation, the sunsets and everything about it. But she just can't stay and be a hindrance to her father's happiness and to suffer the indifference of Joseph.
