A normal youth was off to the side as he watched the chosen of the Lottery walk onto the stage, this was always a momentous occasion and the whole city would usually gather. He was given a wide berth as many people recognized him and muttered nasty things as if he couldn't hear causing him to sneer.
'Trash' thought the youth as he watched the ceremony as people were called up and placed under the machine to receive a class. Sure he wished to have one too but it was unlikely with the public opinion about him, that was always crucial in deciding who would receive a system. A thorough background check to ensure that no one would abuse their power from the System bestowal.
However that isn't to say that there wasn't those who had abused the power regardless as the character of a person could only truly be seen after one had received power. The youth didn't believe he would be like those fools who had spat on the right to receive power because despite how he may act and what he said, he admired the ones who could receive a class and be called a Guilder.
However it was just after a Flame Knight had been announced that an unexpected turn of events happened.
"Let us all welcome the next person on the list, Draig?" called the announcer as he questioned the last part.
Looking towards a man in Dark robes sitting among the Guild leaders and receiving a nod he relented and invited the Delinquent like youth up to the stage and placed him under the machine. Where a bright ominous light took place that was quite different from the other's who had been chosen alarming some people especially among the Guild Leaders.
'Analyzing..... Host analysis complete. Deciphering and constructing best Class system suitable for user..... Complete.... Host is in possession of odd genetic anomaly..... Class System most suitable for host is Vampire, now establishing the connection' stated the System Bestowal unit causing panic among the populace as they screamed.
Draig on the other hand was bathed in a crimson light as his Dark hair became ash grey and his tan skin became pale, his bulkier than normal framed slimmed down and became that of a swimmer's build. His canines became more pronounced and his nails grew slightly and became pointed. As the light of System Bestowal Unit disappeared Draig was revealed with these changes and the Guilders around went on guard as they drew their weapons.
"Stay where you are Leech" stated a Guilder off to the side as he looked towards the Guild Leaders but they all seemed to look at the man in Dark robes.
"Lay down your weapons" stated the Robed figure as he drifted down from his place among the Guild Leaders.
"He is chosen, same as the rest of you. A protector of the People, show him his due respect" stated the Robed figure only to receive the ire of the crowd.
Draig however standing behind the man in dark robes just dropped his head slightly as his anger began to boil, finally he lifted his head displaying crimson eyes. Glaring down into the crowd as he listened to their shouts of hatred.
'That's fine, we will see how you act after I rise to prominence among the Guilders' thought Draig pushing his anger to the back of his mind.
The man in the Dark robes sighed as it was clear there was no calming the public on this subject.
"That is the end of the Selection, we will now proceed to the Guild recruitment ceremony" stated the Dark robed man which seemed to quieten down the crowd as they all wished to see and hear who was going where.
It was a long process, taking most of the day. Draig would naturally be last on the line of recruitment and it was as the sun began to set that the young Vampire system holder looked up with a bit of excitement lacing his gaze as he waited to hear the Guild that had selected him. Alas the next line of words caused his small smile to to fall flat.
"The Guilds have finished selecting their candidates, let us hear a round of applause for the new defenders of humanity" started a thin man with serpent in a swirl pattern emblazoned on his chest.
"I beg to differ" cut in the Dark robed man causing the Guild leaders to look over nervously, they didn't wish to offend this person.
"What do you mean" asked the thin master
"What about that boy" asked the Dark robed man calmly.
"My apologies Lord Zarra, my Spiraling Serpent Guild wouldn't be suitable for him to reach his full potential thus I won't take him in and keep him from achieving his full capacity" stated the thin man revealing the name of the man in the Dark robes.
"I see, what of the rest of you then" asked Zarra as he cast his gaze to the other masters.
"Lord Zarra Vampire's are magical creatures, it wouldn't be appropriate to have him join my Heaven's Fist Guild. I apologize for this inconvenience" stated a larger man with scarred knuckles.
"Alright" stated Zarra as he waited to hear the other explanations, many of them being lame excuses or reasons of why they couldn't accept someone with a Vampire class.
"Very well then, if this is how you all feel then I will find a solution myself. I imagine there will be no objections to this" asked Zarra causing the various leaders to nod and give their blessing.
"Excellent, boy come with me" stated Zarra motioning for Draig to come closer though his tone sounded much more delighted than one would expect.
"Lord Zarra?" questioned the thing leader of the Spiraling Serpent guild.
"Yes" asked Zarra though his face was shadowed by the hood of his robes but the raising of his eyebrow could be heard through his voice alone.
"What is the solution that you have come up with" asked the thin Leader.
"Worry about your own recruits, the boy is of no concern to any of you now. Boy come, we need to get you set up to carry out your duties" called Zarra again causing Draig to perk up and come close the man.
On the side the various Guild leaders stared, they didn't know what to expect as the man they deferred to was a bit eccentric when it came to righting what he believed to be wrongs. It wouldn't bode well if they didn't stay in the loop on the situation.
Meanwhile Draig was looking at the man in Dark robes he had come to know as Lord Zarra with curiosity, he wasn't sure why this person had seen to stand up for him without knowing him but he did appreciate the sentiment. Few people would do that for him though he did wonder what the man had in store for him.
"Tell me boy, what was your name again" called Zarra suddenly surprising Draig at the sudden interruption to the silence.
"It's Draig, uh may I ask what exactly do you have planned for me" asked Draig in polite manner though it was obvious he wasn't used to it with the way it still came out in a sort of intimidating way but the sentiment wasn't lost on Zarra.
"Draig.... Good name. As for what I have planned, I'm not fully sure myself but I can't just let you go to waste. It takes a lot of resources to power up the Class Bestowal Unit so can't really let one of the Chosen go unused and untrained, it's too expensive to just send you out to die." explained Zarra which only caused Draig to look at him strangely.
"Then what are we going to do" asked Draig hoping for the man to shine a bit more light on the situation.
"Well like I said, it's too expensive to just send you out there to die so I will take it upon myself to train you. The Master of Heaven's Fist wasn't mistaken saying Vampires were magical creatures but that was still a poor excuse but that is where my specialty happens to be and luckily my magic should align with your class perfectly. However I will be needing to call in a favor for your physical training" explained Zarra causing Draig to become confused by the man's meaning.
Zarra seemed to sense this and chuckle.
"You'll find out when we begin" stated Zarra
'Besides it's only one more secret I'll be keeping for now' thought the man as they continued walking.
