Learning lots of spells during classes, Nessia became stressed.
Lately, there had been an increase in monster attacks. Oh, I haven't explained about these monsters yet. They are the opposite of the magical creatures that Nessia knows about.
Maybe you had heard about werewolves. They are very common monsters and also can blend into large crowds. Werewolves are basically creatures that could transform into a normal human and hide its scary ears and tail and goes with a crowd of people until it's the right time to attack.
Werewolves are unique too. They have different skin colours when they transform into a wolf. Most have grey fur with some patterns, but others have black, brown or albino colours.
The more rare monsters are more terrifying. They look like monsters that are shown in horror movies. They are a mutated animal with red eyes and act very violently. Each of them have special abilities.
Take a big, giant rabbit with claws as an example. They can control other people while being invisible, which made other people afraid of it.
The academy anounced that the summer holidays are nearing, so they decided to host parties and activities for the students to enjoy, and also allow them to visit their parents or stay.
Nessia was in her dorm room organizing everything. She packed up her bag and carried it. ''I can't wait to visit my mother again!'' Nessia opened her dorm room and took the school's carriage home.
She knocked on her house door and Mrs Aglorin answered the door immediately. ''Nessia! You're back home!'' Mrs Aglorin hugged Nessia warmly.
''Yeah... Hello mom,'' Nessia smiled as Mrs Aglorin let her in. Mrs Aglorin went to the kitchen then laid food on the dining table. ''Did you eat dinner? I cooked your favourite dishes,'' she asked Nessia.
Nessia shook her head, ''No, I did not. Thank you mother!'' Nessia went to wash her hands and ate dinner with Mrs Aglorin. After a while, Nessia's mother asked what sounded like a million questions.
''How's school?'' ''I heard you passed the exams with the highest grade in the class.'' ''Did you get bullied?'' ''Made any friends?'' ''Are classes fun?''
Nessia swallowed her food and replied, ''Fun, I know, maybe, what are the other questions again?'' Mrs Aglorin gave up asking questions and the dinner became quiet, as only chewing noises were heard.
''I'm going to my room,'' Nessia said after finishing her meal and went upstairs.
Unpacking a few things from her bag, she felt like she's cozy at home. Nessia smiled as she remembered the memories of her and her mother inside her room.
She did what she usually did before sleeping and slept for the night, on her old, comfy bed.
*****
As always, the sun rose and it was time for Nessia to wake up. She did her usual morning routine and ate breakfast with her mother.
She soon went back into her room again, remembering about the time she became really tired and Dia made fun of her.
After reading her spell textbook, she found out that Dia casted a temporary curse on her that drains Nessia's energy.
But when did she do that?
While thinking about this, a sudden scream was heard. It didn't sound like Nessia's mother, but it might be her neighbour.
She quickly went downstairs, and saw her mother panicking. Outside the window, a gigantic grey werewolf was attacking a girl.
Nessia decided to help the girl, and at the same time, felt that the girl was familiar.
Ever since the bullying accident, Dia never bullied the same person again.
Wait... That's Riveria Rain!
Nessia rushed and casted a spell that shoots projectiles to the werewolf. The werewolf howled and charged at Nessia aggressively.
Nessia dodged and casted a shield spell for Riveria. ''...Nessia?'' she said as Nessia continued shooting projectiles at the werewolf.
Nessia continued fighting until the werewolf decided to run away, and turned to Riveria.
Riveria was surprised. ''Nessia... First you defended me from Dia, and now you saved me from a werewolf... You don't have to keep protecting me, I'm just a C grade student...'' Riveria sighed as Nessia noticed her torn clothes.
Nessia thought that the werewolf torn her clothes, but it was Riveria's grandparents. They always wanted Riveria to do housework for them and also study very hard at the same time.
Riveria was heading to the grocery stall before the werewolf attacked her.
''You... need to go back to your house. It's not safe here,'' Nessia adviced.
Riveria shook her head, ''No... my... grandparents ran out of bread and I needed to go to the store to buy it for them.''
''Then I'll go with you,'' with confidence, Nessia held Riveria's hands. ''I'll protect you until you reach home.''
Riveria's eyes were filled with tears. ''T - thank you...'' and they slowly walked to the grocery store.
