Chapter 10: 10. Just follow
The moment Lihua learned the plan of Chao Shen, she immediately contacted her master. They met outside of the city in a small inn where travelers often stay the night. Lihua dressed in a plain blue dress and she wore a veil over her face. They were seated in the restaurant of the inn. At that time of the year, the restaurant is empty.
Master Guang spoke after Lihua remained quiet. He knew that she is being cautious.
"Don't worry, we own the place."
Lihua was relieved. She looked at her master seriously.
"Master, I believe there is a spy in the Holy Mountain."
"Oh?"
Lihua told Master Guang everything. When she finished, the old man laughed rather loudly. Lihua was confused.
"I couldn't believe that I am still on my edge even at this old age," the old man said proudly.
"Master, will you please enlighten me?"
"My dear Lihua, don't think about this matter. All you have to do is finish your affair with the Prime Minister's manor and move to the Minister of War's household."
"But master..."
"I set the date of your return and informed the Minister of War household. Your 'father' is looking forward to meet you."
"Master, I thought I am still part of the Holy Mountain." her voice showed how hurt she is. With everything happening now, she left that she was left alone in the dark. And her master's refusal to give her the details made her realized that her fear might be real.
Master Guang patted her hand on top of the table.
"Lihua, I understand what you are feeling right now. But the information that Chao Shen received came from me."
Lihua was shocked by this revelation.
"What? But why?"
"To give you the opportunity you needed."
Lihua was stunned on the spot. She suddenly felt scared of the old man in front of him. Though she regarded him as her father, she still could not believe that he is this sharp. She never thought that he will have the foresight to foretell the future. It is true that she needed the opportunity to leave the Prime Minister manor, but knowing what she is thinking is really surprising. She felt that her years of training has gone to waste.
"Don't be hard on yourself," Master Guang told Lihua after a while. "remember that I am your master and you are my student. I failed if I cannot even know your plans without you telling me."
Lihua gave a small smile, "but of course."
"But this doesn't mean that you will allow others to know what you are thinking." his voice returned to being cold and serious.
"Of course master. No one can read through me... except you."
"That's good then. Now leave. It is better to be overly prepared than not succeeding."
Lihua has been riding her house for a few hours now when she suddenly stopped. She came into a clearing. Orange and yellow can be seen in the sky. She can still see some stars though. Lihua inhaled deeply. The fresh morning breeze is refreshing. She wants to savor this moment because she knew the following weeks will be full of action.
She doesn't know how long she's been looking up when suddenly she heard a voice.
