Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Hero’s Chronicle, Barron Maxton

Deacon, Tally, and Jeb teleported to Maxton's manor along with Mayuri, Queen Vivian, and her two children.

"Jeb, you'll stay here and protect them, me and Tally will take care of the rest" Deacon said as he was about to split off.

"Wait," Jeb said as he handed Deacon a slip of paper. It was a map of the Manor with the locations of the guards and Maxton.

"Young Miss sure doesn't leave anything out," Tally said as Deacon nodded

"Wonder where she gets her information from" He said, "Let's go" Deacon said to Tally. He reached for belt took out a black glass ball

(One Month Ago)

Young Miss, what is this?" Jeb holds out a white glass ball.

"An experiment."

"An experiment?" Tally asked

"I call them spell beads, breaking them will release mana of that element for any middle or low tier spell," Glass said 'In other words, it can allow a person to use a spell not in their element"

"How does it work?" Deacon said curiously

"Easy, say the spell in your head or aloud as you break the bead." She looked at Jeb "Jeb the one you hold has light element, use fly"

Jeb nodded and said "Fly" aloud as he crushed the bead. The next moment his was flying,

"Me too," Tally said as he repeated what Jeb did and they both started flying.

"The beads are still in the development stage, for now only low-tier spells are completely safe. I don't recommend using middle-tier spell unless necessary."

"Why, are you giving them to us?" He asked

"For you to get used to using them" She handed him a belt with five small pockets "You find situations in which you'll need them" Deacon grabbed the belt "Each pocket holds ten beads of its corresponding element."

(Present)

"You really think of everything, Glass" Deacon said "I suppose I should start calling her young miss now" he crushed the bead, Shadow step. Deacon and Tally sunk down into the shadows, leaving Queen Vivian dumbfounded at what just happened, she believed the two of them were dark element users.

Deacon and Tally quickly dispatched the guards thanks to the map that was given to them. It was completely accurate, but it didn't surprise the duo who had become used to it. Glass predictions were always accurate to the point it was scary. Now it was Barron Maxton turn, they didn't know why Glass wanted him dead, but were still willing to do it. They had reached the Maxton's study; Glass notes tell him how to open the secret door in the study.

"Got it" Tally pulled a lever that looked like a wall lamp. Deacon stated to have a bad feeling, why would a noble need a secret dungeon in his study. They walked down they secret steps to the lower depths soon enough even Tally started to have a bad feeling.

The smell of blood soon became apparent the hairs on the back of their necks stood up as they saw corpses everywhere and people who looked like corpses chained on the side of the walls. Bloodied bodies in cages were moaning in pain; there were even children here. Deacon horrified then remembers another conversation he had with Glass

"Do you know, why nobles tend to be the worse type of people" She asked.

"No" Deacon responded.

"Power. People drunk on power lose some rationally forgetting that the person next to them sheds the same red blood they do." Deacon nodded

"Those type of people tend to treat others like dogs; they can abuse, control and destroy. Deacon you think you have seen the worst of nobles, but you haven't, you haven't even begone to see the monstrous things they can do. Especially, those drunk on power."

Deacon thought to himself "Is this even human anymore"

Jeb was playing with playing little make-believe games with Mayuri who had woken up, Henry and his younger sister Hope. The three seemed to have calmed down but were still scared on the inside, Queen Vivian looked a little worried too but seemed to have calmed down when her children started having smiles on their faces. She hoped they were safe.

A flash of light appeared as Glass stepped out and fell to the ground. Satusko had already been put back into her inventory.

"Young miss" Jeb was shocked as he reached for her, she wasn't injured so why did she fall.

"Healing potions will heal the body but won't help mental exhausted" Glass before setting-up and took a deep breath; she settled herself on the stone wall. Queen Vivian looked at the pale newcomer with worry, and aww, the little looked like she had taken on something unbelievable. Moreover, the young girl was adorable, silver and silver eyes, she is going to be an unearthly beauty when she grows up. While Mayuri, Henry, and Hope looked in surprise at the small girl.

"Young Miss. Can ask?" Jeb said

"What is it?"

"Why do you want Barron Maxton dead?" She signed "He has a good reputation, why not ask him for help."

"Just because he has a good reputation doesn't mean he's good."

"What do you mean?"

"When Deacon and Tally come back, they will tell you" Glass didn't want to explain Barron Maxton in front of actual children.

Barron Maxton was born with a not so pleasant face as such he always wore a mask, he killed anyone who saw his real face. Unfortunately, his family died murdered by bandits leaving him the sole heir. Eventually, Maxton fell in love with a beautiful village girl that put most noble women to shame. They married but weren't able to have any children. Even so, Maxton loved his wife but had a deep hatred for beauty thus he not only did he love his wife but intensely hated her too. After a year of marriage, he started torturing his her, but never to the point of killing her. Realizing his obsession for abusing beautiful people, he secretly kidnapped them. It didn't matter to him that they he was doing this to kids too. He just wanted to make them feel unbelievable pain.

Glass closed her eyes; the real tragedy is his wife who had endured years of abuse wishing for death but never coming for her. In the game Maxton was one of the groups of nobles that allied with Maxfield, His wife was never able to escape her torture even after his. She committed suicide not too long afterward.

"Jeb, I'm going to meet up with Deacon and Tally."

Maxton the Torturer will get his just punishment.

Deacon and Tally looked sick at his point now fully understanding why Glass wanted the Barron dead. They pushed forward until they heard malicious laughter followed by screams and more moans, these people were in agony.

"Deacon" Tally trembled "This man doesn't deserve to live."

"I agree," Deacon said with killing intent "I man like this isn't even human anymore" Deacon took out a black bead and once again casted the shadow step spell. "Tally, save who you can here, I'm going on ahead."

"Alright," Tally said as he took out the blue, green, and white bead and started to heal the victims.

Deacon's killing intent grows even stronger, as soon as Maxton is in sight, he goes for the kill. Maxton is busy whipping some unknown youth with blue hair, and he didn't notice the person coming from behind him until he was stabbed in the back and thrown towards the wall. Maxton gets back up as if the stab was nothing; Deacon was surprised that should have been a one hit kill. Looks like he underestimated the Barron.

Maxton was furious how dare someone to interrupt his nightly pleasure. He throws a bottle of poison at the intruder. Deacon had dodged it; he wasn't stupid as to come in direct contact with the unknown bottle.

"hahaha" Maxton laughed, Deacon started to become dizzy, poison must have been airborne. He backed away and took out a green bead to neutralizes the poison. Maxton pulled the lever behind him, and saws started to spring out, Deacon them took out a white bead. He teleported a little farther away. Maxon pulled more levers soon a fire was ablaze all around him as more spikes and saws came towards his location. He crushed a blue bead, and ice froze the flames and saws. Deacon could only dodge the spikes, but he got hit by a few of them.

"How is this possible, you're using more than one element," Maxton said as he pulled another lever. This time Deacon feet where caught in what looks to be razor wire as iron bars trapped him inside a cage while a ceiling full of spikes was descending downward. Deacon was desperately cutting the raze wire when he was free; he quickly used a white bead.

At this point, all Deacon thought "You right young miss. They do come in handy" he shuddered at the thought of what would have happened if he didn't have the spell beads.

"Damn You!" Maxton yelled as he was pulling levers frantically. Soon enough the place looked like hell. Deacon was doing his best to dodge them but couldn't doge all of them. He needs to take the Barron down now, he crushed a bead and appeared behind Maxton bloodied and heavily injured, nearly out of breath. Deacon swung his dagger towards Maxton who blocked with his sword, Maxton was stronger than he thought he underestimated Maxton big-time. The two- continued to clash against each other as if they were evenly matched.

"Not bad for a dirty rat," Maxton said as Deacon spat blood. He was losing to much blood and was getting dizzy.

Maxton out of nowhere was sent ablaze right in front of him. Deacon turned to the side to see Tally and then looked back at Maxton. Deacon pulled out all his red bead as he dropped to the ground on his knees. Crushing them one by one continuously sending Maxton ablaze as Maxton's cried out in pain. Tally ran up to Deacon and pulled out a white bead to heal him. Deacon wasn't done as he the remaining red beads from Tally and crushed them until Maxton's screams stopped and he was now a pile of ash leaving his golden mask behind.

"He was nothing more than a pile of trash to the end." Deacon breathed at ease with a sign of relief.

Deacon laid on the ground exhausted "Were you able to save" he asked Tally.

"No"

"What happened."

"They committed suicide."

'What!?Why!?"

"As soon as I healed them, they just ended it, even the children."

"Of course, they would," Glass said to appear in front of them.

"Young miss" Tally looked up.

"Why?"

"Maxton made sure to torture them till they wished for death but never gave them it." She signed

"The bliss of death overruled any compelling reason to stay alive. Enduring so much torture that living seemed dull."

"Bastard" Tally spit at the ashes.

"However, there are still some that can be saved" Glass walked towards the blue-haired boy that looked dead. She picked up his face.

Rain Mayfest is his name. Rain was once part of a noble family with kind parents and many siblings. He was the middle child and lived a happy life in ignorance of the outside world. However, that changed when his parents were accused of treason and conspiring with outsiders to kill the first prince. His parents were executed leaving him and his sibling to also be dealt with in other ways. He and his siblings were giving to Maxton where they were relentlessly tortured by him. Rain is the sole survivor of his family. Rain eventually escaped his abuser and went to become an assassin like Mayuri. He only chooses targets that deserved it. He and Mayuri clashed ending with both of them severely injured as a result. Rain committed suicide on his family old estate after Lady Angela's execution.

Glass healed the unconscious boy who was barely alive. She gently laid his face down when his breathing returned to normal. She then looked at the seemingly empty wall, Deacon and Tally sat and watched her. Glass took out Satusko and cut the wall. Revealing a woman strapped to a chair, she was covered in bandages. The bloodied bandages all other wasn't the only horror to her she only had one strand of hair, her legs and arms cut off.

"Sara Maxton, Barron Maxton's wife," Glass said aloud to Deacon and Tally "Barron Maxton hated anything beautiful, that included his own wife" Now they were at a new revelation on the cruelness of Barron Maxton. The man wouldn't even let his wife off. She had tears falling from her eyes as it was hard to look at the pour women. However, she kept walking toward Sara.

"Do you want to live?" Glass asked Sara. Tears started leaking from the bandages. She was mouthing words because she couldn't speak. However, Glass understood what she said.

Glass pulled out a white potion that illuminated different colors and drank it. Glass started to glow pure white as she kissed Sara's forehead. Sara body began to glow brightly until it shrunk reveling a little girl, Glass turned Sara into a child before returning to her own original self.

"Deacon you carry Sara, Tally you carry him" Glass instructed.

After Maxton Manor's clean-up Glass made Jeb replace Barron Maxton so that no one would suspect his death. Jeb was similar in so Maxton in all but the face, since Maxton never let anyone see his face, it would be surprisingly easy to replace him. As for Queen Vivian, she was safe pretending to be the head maid of the manor. As the country believes that she and her children died due to illness. Glass had told Jeb to arrange a funeral for Sara Maxton and then make sure everyone knows that you adopted orphans' out of loneliness. Maxton already had a good reputation among the people and never let his secret out. Since that was the case, she told Jeb to keep up his good reputation and do everything he can to bury Maxton's secret for good.

Glass had brought Sara, Mayuri, and Rain to Hall estate, Sara and Mayuri were turned into personal maids while Rain became her guard. Sara ended up in a better state as she didn't have any memories when she woke-up. Mayuri and Rain were quite the opposite as they were quiet and stilled trying to get over the events that took place in their lives. However, it can be said they are looking remarkable better and seemed to have found a new purpose in life.
