Chapter 2: Changes
Everything was different and for the first time I found myself with a desire greater then anything I've ever experienced before. Obviously I wished to be a cultivator but that the fantasy of a hopeless dreamer. I never really believed I'd become one so rather then ever looking and working for the opportunity I just dreamed about it. In my mind the only way I'd become a cultivator was if some fortuitous encounter landed in my lap like finding an ancient ring that has the soul of an all powerful genius cultivator bound to it and then he leads me on my way to becoming the most powerful cultivator in existence. Of course such a thing happening will remain just a dream and in a world as large as my own how many people find their dreams coming true as easy as that.
Everything was different and this isn't to say just my mindset had changed. Reality in it's entirety was now different. Once upon a time I found myself with vision beyond that of a normal mortal but now even that was mundane. My vision now compared to before was like going from being blind to being able to see. As if everything I saw previously was grey and white but now I was seeing in colour. Beyond even that the world was filled with particles of colour. Everything was nuanced as though there was now a second layer to things that I could never see before. The air surrounding me now had colour to it and not in a way that was blinding but a way that was mystical. All around me I could see different particles of colour white being the most prevalent but a mixture of other colours of every imaginable colour also present.
The sight of such a mystical world distracted me fully from the ordeal of almost having lost myself to the darkness. As such I didn't find myself about to shit myself from the other terror of what I just experienced so totally lost was I exploring this new world. Focusing my vision was as easy as always but seeing the particles in the air was distracting. Taking some time to get used to the new world I took in my surrounding. I was at the bottom of a cavern. Looking at the cavern wall once I again I found myself distracted by the second layer that everything seems to have. What was once simple rock now had undercurrents of colour in brown and green moving through it. Not as much green as there was brown and even this brown was darker in some places compared to others. I had little clue of what all this meant but I was starting to see a pattern. An idea was forming in my mind about what all these colours could mean. While I still has no clue what the most of the particles represented I came to realize it was energy represented as colour. The brown colour I could see in the rock definitely represented earth energy. Somehow my sight ,which was already good, was further enhanced to let me see even more. I'd come to realise how useful this energy vision is a little later
After marvelling at the energy surrounding for a long while I took another look at the cavern this time focusing on not getting lost in my own vision. The cavern wasn't really that big more like a deep hole then a proper cavern and the darkness that I once plunged into was nowhere to be found. I could see a pool of crystal clear water a bit further into the cavern that was filled with blue energy particles of the most vivid blue I've ever seen. Looking up I could see the hole that I fell through and through that I could see the moon. Silver particles could be seen falling from the moon mixing with all the other coloured particles in the air. Having spent such a long time looking at the second layer of the world I was feeling thirsty so I decided to go drink some water. Cupping some water in my hand while crouched I had a sip. The soothing feeling of drinking was unlike anything I've ever felt. I could feel the water energy in the water diffuse to all parts of my body. I had once fallen from a tree and twisted my ankle. The injury never healed right so there was always a tiny amount of pain that I could feel when I stood on it. I was so used to it that I barely noticed it anymore but at this moment the pain vanished. The abruptness of this vanishing was so shocking that it felt as though I had lost the feeling of my foot to the darkness once more. Hyperventilating I fell on my ass and scrabbled to get away from the water. It took me a few minutes before I managed to drive away the terror.
I now have a trauma. I felt like crying. For all that the things I can see and feel are so much better then what they used to be falling into the void was an experience more terrifying then anything I've ever experienced and probably ever will experience. Sitting on the floor of the cavern I ruminate over this experience. I won't be able to live like this with the void living over my head. A living spectre constantly hovering over my shoulder. Getting into a comfortable meditative pose I breath in deep. Slowly letting my breath out I repeat the process over and over again. I don't really have any thoughts in mind all I know is I need to calm down and get over this fear. As I get deeper into my breathing I start to feel more. My senses seem to grow. To move past my skin and reach into the air. As I take another breath I feel a huge amount of energy rushing into me. As I breath out I feel darkness flow out of me or what feels like darkness. The energy flows into me constantly improving my body. My senses improve. I can hear the Earth moving under the ground. I can smell the water undulating in its pool. Opening my eyes and looking at walls of the cavern grants me a feeling of touching the walls. The sense of synesthesia is amazing. I feel connected to the universe. More fulfilled then I've even felt in my life. The feeling of the void gets smaller and smaller, every second a bit more managable.
When I came out of my meditation the feeling of the void is but a blip at the back of my head but it's still there and probably will never go away but it's manageable. Looking up through the hole I can no longer see the moon but the sky seems to be lightning as if to announce the coming of the sun. My body feels stronger then ever before. Clenching my fist gives me a sense of power that I've never experienced in my life. The act of standing up makes me feel as though breaking the constraints of physics that keeps me tethered to the world would only require a jump. I look at the pool of water and decide to test my new found calm by allowing myself to lie in the water for a while. As I enter I feel myself wanting to panic but the feeling of being connected with the universe keeps me grounded. I watch as the water energy particles in the water seep into my body through my pores. Aches that I never even noticed before heal before my eyes. My body renewed I step out of the water. I don't know if it's this particular pool of water or the fact that I can absorb the water energy that allows for healing but just the fact that my body feels brand new is amazing enough. The blue energy particles look as bountiful as ever to my eyes so I have no way of knowing. Seeing that there's nothing left for me in the cavern I make my way to the closest wall to climb my way out of it. It's easier then I've ever thought it to be climbing up. I'm looking forward to seeing the valley with my new vision.
