Chapter 9: The Long Halloween part II
Hearing that Sofia planned to kill Harvey, Bruce suddenly stood up and Catwoman with an insane speed grabbing her neck.
"How did you learn that ?" he asked with a dark tone. "And why does she want to kill him? The Joker killed The Roman, not Harvey"
That sudden behaviour catch off everyone guard. It wasn't in Bruce habits to lose control over himself. But this time, it was understandable because he blame himself for what happened to what happened in the interrogation Room. Because he was one of the first who thought that Harvey was indeed Holiday, now he blame himself for not having trust his friend. But it was already to late now to repair his mistakes.
But for Catwoman who was used to see a kind and always smiling Bruce when she wear the identity of Selina Kyle, surprise wasn't enough to describe how she was feeling right now. But Catwoman was Catwoman after all.
"Wow, Mister Bruce Wayne. I never knew you had that attrait in bullying women. It doesn't mean that I don't like that part of you though" she said with playful manners. Unfortunately Bruce wasn't going to play this time around. He gripped her neck with more force nearly suffocating her on the spot.
"No playing today, Catwoman. Answer.To.My. Questions!" seeing him that serious with that ruthless tone, Catwoman suddenly found a likeness with Batman in him. "No, it's just that he's too angry. He can't be him" she dispelled that thought quickly and managed to say with the few breath left in her "Release....me..first"
It was at this moment that Bruce noticed what he did and released her promptly and apology "Sorry, I losed control. It won't happen again" "Humpf, You better!" Catwoman massage her neck and snorted back as reply. But she didn't follow any further.
"So, two hours ago, I was watching Falcone's House for personal matters. While doing so, I caught a conversation between The Pingouin and Sofia. Sofia made a deal with him. He could take back the power of the underground, in exchange he had to kill Harvey Dent because According to her and her wierd understanding of the situation. If Harvey didn't want to caught her father that much, he would have never been killed, her sister would still be alive blablabla. You get the point" explained Catwoman like it was something trivial.
At this point, Bruce face was so dark that Catwoman who was facing get really scared. And immediately left after saying bye to everyone.
"Uncle Bruce, what we gonna do? Break in Sofia and Pingouin Mansion?" asked Mallory clearly eager to fight rather than staying here and keep concocting plans. But contrary to her expectations this wasn't part of Bruce plan "No. We're going to Arkham Asylum. We will protect Harvey and at the same time we will go toto confirm that there is just one Holiday. I have to finish that long Halloween without having to wait for Halloween to come and confirm that the second Holidays truly exist" said Bruce in a bad mood.
Arkham Asylum
Until recently, Arkham Asylum was one of the oldest building in the city.The building was build by Amadeus Arkham who give the name of the asylum. Ironically he build that hospital to treat criminals with instability minds like the Joker or the Scarecrow, but he too finish inside as a patient. Most of the famous criminals Batman fought against the past four Years weren't incarcerated in Blackgate but instead in Arkham Asylum because of their insanity. They were legend saying that once inside this asylum, even if at first you weren't crazy, after a certain time inside you will definitely be. And the Amadeus and his family were a proof of that legend. That, Made the place more creepy and scary than it was already. Even with when they rebuild the building one years ago.
In the level -2 were the more crazy people were incarcerated down the Hall was situated four cells. In front of one of them, was a nurse Caught in a discussion with his patient.
"Well mister Joker, we will see each other tomorrow I guess" said the nurse with a smile.
"So soon? But the night just begun to show himself, miss Quinzel why not be a little crazy just this night and spend it with me?" asked Joker Laughing. By what a Blushing Harleen Quinzel replied chuckling "Oh mister Joker you really know oh say funny joke. You that I can do that. Beside, I'm hear so nothing will go crazy and you know that" she was then prepared to leave, but as she did, heard the Joker said "One day, Harleen. You, me in the Diving in the madness. I know it, and it will be fun Ha Ha Ha ha!" Taking that as a proposition, Harleen blush even more and hast her step to the exit while still hearing the laugh of the Joker.
When no soul soul was spotted in the In the hallways two shadows suddenly appeared were Harleen Quinzel was previously standing like they came out of the shadow. The largest of them wore a black long cloak recalling the wings of a bat if spread, attached to a mask recovering most of his face. There were the symbol of a bat on his chest and except for his yellow belt filled with many pocket all his fine suit was in most part grey or black. The second one was much more smaller was in complete dark brown outfit. He wore a hood large enough to cast a shadow on his whole face making it more difficult to discern his face. And to unsure that no one could recognise him, he painted his face in black. Making his Glowing purple eyes more clear. In his back, there was two Blowpipe in an alloy of vibranium and Adamantium like his boots and his gauntlets. his pretty was ple to free for movements.
That sudden apparition transformed the laughter of the Joker into chuckled.
"If it isn't a funny story! After my beloved leave, my nemesis came to me. He hehe.. HAHAHA HA HAHAHA!!!! And like he wanted to piss me off, he's with his what ? Your daughter? Your son? Did you have a child with That cat? Hahaha!!! A cat and bat can have baby? Haha...! No....this is not funny" finish to say Joker with a disgusting face. "Joker" replied plainly Batman as a greeting.
After that, Batman turn his head to another cell and walk to it, causing the Joker to be displeased. "What, that's all? Joker? That's it? Waiiiit Batman were do you think your going? Stay playing with me!!" seeing no reaction from Batman, Joker continue his act with tears coming out "You are heartless! Monster! Not playing or talking with your pal when seeing him?! And they call you a hero??.... Wait. That's funny hahahaha a hero being scold for not having manners by a Villain, hahaha HA HA HA HA!!!! Always so fun when your around Batty hahahahahaha!!! Hey batty say something! Nothing? Hahaha!! Batty? Already gone?" "Just not interested in you tonight Joker"
Hearing that, the Joker start frowning until he noticed that the person who was with Batman didn't leave so he start to smile again thinking that he found his new target. But before he could say anything, the Hooded person spoke first "Don't waste your saliva Joker, I'm not playing with you. Though it would have been a different matter if you were out. It would have been a pleasure to put you in cells myself"
Hearing the voice, the Joker's smile get bigger and bigger. "You...You were there.....Riiiiight?? When I start to comprehend that being a crazy maniac person was rather a pleasant thing, you were there am I right? The little girl who keep doing mistake after mistake it WAS YOU RIGHT??! HEHEHE!! HE HA HA HA! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! THAT'S TOO FUNNY DON'T YOU THINK??!"
Listening him, she couldn't help but asked with a displeased tone "What's so funny?"
Making his smile grow even bigger than earlier "But you darling!! YOU HAHAHA!!! Batman seeing that he can't handle the situation, didn't ask the help of someone like that new superhero hummm.... What his name again? Blur? Speed? Fast? Ah, yeah... Flash ! So yeah he didn't ask help from a super hero like the Flash who could probably put us all in jail in less than five minute but instead called you the clumsy one?! Don't you remember that thanks to you I became who I was today?"
Mallory knew that the Joker just wanted to anger her so she would do something stupid like opening his door kick his ass. Even if she was really eager to, but she restrain herself and replied with a mocking tone "A guy put In jail for his crime?"
That reply made the Joker surprise "What? How dare you? I'm not a guy put in jail darling, I'm a distinguish criminal judge with a mental disorder. That's better" "Oh yeah? In what part do you see that it's better? Clearly that worst" said Mallory with incredulity.
The smile of the Joker then start to look more sinister "He He He. Darling, Darling, Darling. You don't know? Apart from the kind service we received, that's because it much more easier to escape of course"
Not to far from the Joker room, inside another, were standing two men.
"Harvey, how are you?" greet Batman in his way. "Batman! I'm good. That asylum gave me all the time I had to think a little alone without distinctions around" said Harvey Dent with a faint smile on his perfect handsome face, but nonetheless surprise by the surprise incoming entrance from Batman because he continued asking "What are doing here by the way? Did you already catch the second Holiday? No that can't be, not so fast at least. We're not even at Halloween yet"
This time, it was the Batman turn to be surprised "You knew there was two Holiday?!" "Of course I knew. Why someone accused of being one wouldn't? Every single crazy villains in freedom in this city knows. So why the first crazy villain concern is that matter won't?" said Harvey full of his self.
Causing Batman to said "Harvey I'm sorry, I should have..." "What Batman? It's not your fault that I was put there. It's their fault! They are guilty. I don't even know what you are apologising for. Let's come back to those two Holiday would you? The reason I knew that there was two people was pretty simple in fact. The second Holiday am de a mistake, he accused me to be Holiday"
For Harvey, that simple fact face obvious, but batman, when he heard that, he was just absolutely clueless of how that would pin point the fact that there was two Holiday. 'Yeah there's no sense in what he said. Alberto Falcone was the murderer of all those victims, he confess that himself when he was caught. But before he hide it very vell. He even went as far as to kill his brother and his aunt to protect his secret, so why it should be surprising for him to cover his track by accusing Harvey as the murderer?' thought Batman as he couldn't figure it out. Everything was perfectly logic for him.
"You don't think in a proper way Batman. Your thinking in a logical manner, not like serial killer" said Harvey interrupting his thoughts. "Let start little. Why do you think Alberto killed his aunt when she learn that it was him?" "Because he didn't want anybody to know his secret" Replied Batman instantly.
"Good. Next one is what time of people will do that?" "The carful type. The one who doesn't want to leave a single clue of how to find him" said Batman as he beginning to understand Harvey Encouraged him to continue "That's why it would be weird to leave so much clue in one place, your place to accused you. He didn't even have the weapons and the coats in his own house! It was too obvious when putting like that that you weren't the serial killer because even during the murderers he was carful to never leave anything behind" when he concluded that, he also put another apologic face once again for moment.
"Let say that your half right, now why would someone like that would put his villains suff in the same roof of were his living with his wife? Because it just not the same person" finish Harvey. "But why would the second Holiday wants to do that? So we could catch the first one more easily? They are in a competing against each other?" asked Batman but Harvey Shook his head "You're wrong. Everyone was wrong. Those so-called clue were in fact a riddle"
Hearing that, Batman frown "A riddle? And what is it say?" "That, I don't Batty. You're the PE here not me" replied Harvey with a smile. Something caught the attention of Batman when listen to him, but before he could say anything, he suddenly heard the sound of a big explosion coming from upstairs. 'Crap I forgot the killers'
He then get out of the room to went upstairs and because he didn't have the time to lock it he cried to Harvey "Don't get out of your room Harvey, some people want to kill you!" But batman didn't the next sentence of Harvey "Don't worry Batty, nothing can stop the justice I am in cells. Because when they do, all it left is Anarchy!"

When Batman finally arrived upstairs what he saw, caused him to frown. One man in an space like outfit with a gun freeze in hands, another one with with a Flamethrower and mechanical Wings on his back and an other with a bare naked body and scars all over holind a knife were causing hell in the place. Some were frozen on the spot or if they escaped with a member dead frozen for life. Others were simply screaming burned waiting in their long agony to die or were already reduced to ashes. In a sense, the third one, was more gentle than them, because he just keep grabbing the first one he caught and cut his neck so he die with almost no pain.
But be it criminals or doctors, no one was spared.
Until Batman introduced himself in this butchery by throwing a Batarang to Mr.Freeze's Helmet. The projectile didn't reached his target because Mr.Freeze stopped it with his freezing gun, but serve his purpose as all the villains were now concentrate on the arrival of the newcomer.
Before even having the chance to 'greet' him properly, The Cape Crusader tossed smoke capsules on the floor. Making it impossible for them to pointing out his location. But it only distract them a few moments. 'Batman was right in front of them, so why bothering looking for his exact position?' was what Mr. Freeze and Firefly were thinking. They briefly took a glance at each other and fired with all their powers. The extreme heat and cold when they collud with each and other, create an explosion who spread through the hallway opposing them.
Following after a long silence in the whole hallway. Due to the explosion, a smoke more thick was create preventing the three men to see what was inside.
"Did you killed him?" asked Victor Zsasz with doubt and disbelief. But like he jinxed them or just to replied to his question, the sound of a grappling gun was suddenly heard and the next moment, the arm Firelfy was holding his flamethrower gun was tied up.
Reacting quickly, Mr. Freeze wanted to fire at source of the rope and start shooting without thinking, but before the freeze beam could reach his true target, it found itself in front of a Firefly who was being drag to the owner of the grappling gun.
Seeing the the freezing beam incoming, Firfly started to panick and shot back a giant burst of flame. Realising what happened, Zsasz shout "No! Don't!!" but it was already to late. They were to close and when the cold and heat touched the explosion resulting blast them all without them being able to do anything.
They were so closed, that when the smoke finally disappeared, Batman found the three of them were already knockout with serious injuries.
"Next time, choose a better teammate. You two are clearly not compatibles. And Zsasz... well he would certainly have be a better opponent alone. It wasn't really that hard.." but Batman didn't have the time to finish that another big sound was heard, but this time from downstairs. 'Oh no, Mallory!'
In less than a minute, he was already downstairs but the chaos was already there. Or more precisely have been. All the patients Escaped from their room, but no one of them succeed in escaping from the hallway. Because they were all laying in the ground like dead corpses. And Above the heap of those was sitting a Mallory breathless trying to rest.
When Batman saw that he could only asked as he walk to her "You... What happened there?!"
Mallory raised her head when she heard the voice of Batman, but immediately lowered it after when she understood the question "Sorry Batman, I couldn't detained them all. Some escaped. I was caught off guard" said Mallory with an remorseful face. Misunderstanding the meaning of her saying, Batman started to get angry.
"What did you this time?" "Me? Nothing I swear! It was them! The people Joker was colluding with before he was brought there. They invade the place by breaking the wall down the Hall near Joker room. To preventing me to prevent them to do it, they start to open all the rooms of the floor to keep me busy. Some of the inmates escaped along the way, but at least I managed to get Mad Hatter" Highlighting her remarks, she pointed a little man in green with a big hat sleeping soundlessly against a wall.
"Joker escaped?" asked Batman as a confirmation and Mallory nodded. But the next instant, Batman rushed at a room...Who was empty. He then get out and start asking "Where is Harv..." but he didn't have to finish that Mallory shooked her head and said "Gone. Along with the Joker"
