Prologue
I felt the chilling winter wind blow
against my face. On a normal day, I might have heard to it too. Yet no, my senses were all too focused elsewhere.
My heart is pounding so hard that it seems like my poor chest is about to explode anytime. I was yet to catch my breath when I saw the need to dodge again.
Then just barely, the strike that was supposed to bury a knife to my head ended up to be a harmless slash. All thanks to my desperate leap backwards.
Why am I in this perilious situation?
I seriously don't deserve this. I, an innocent child who is yet to understand the mechanisms of the adult world, seriously don't deserve this.
Furthermore, I don't understand anything that's happening at all!
Yet there is it again. That cocky grin in that dirty face that irritates me to hell. It's from that bandit's face. I call him bandit, but I guess his role right now is an assassin, but his crudeness and lack of elegance makes him overly unqualified to be called an assassin!
Wait, this isn't the time to think about that.
What should I think of then?
A way to get out of this situation?
Looking around, that's quite impossible at this point. Those two kind people who claimed to be my loyal companions are now nothing but two bodies scattered around me. Their blood staining the pure white sheets of snow.
Such a waste, those two. Not that I am in any better situation. I guess I'll be like them in a short while.
Oh, now that I think about it, why am I here in the first place?
Wait, I already asked myself that question.
I guess before anything else, I should just try my best to protect my sanity.
First, I must sort my thoughts!
I scanned through my memory to reaffirm each and every event that led me to my current situation. I'm Aleksandra Bauer, a 16-year-old high school student, and just a few hours ago, I was peacefully living as one.
