'Father, I met mother.'
'Father, do you know she's the head of black.com?'
'Father...'
'Ahhh!'
Han Meixiu was restless as she's trying to think what would be the first question she should ask to her father.
Liu Zijian informed her that today, she could visit Han Yun Xiang.
The moment she heard about it, she started to think what to ask.
But maybe because she has so much questions, her mind went blank the moment they arrived at door of her father's room.
She inhaled deeply before turning the knob.
Although she expected that her father wouldn't look well as he has been in this place for treatment, she never expected him to be like this.
His complexion was pale and his cheeks were sunken.
He lost weight compared to the last time she saw him. Although his breathing wasn't supported by a ventilator, he still looked frail.
"Father..." Han Meixiu whispered as she walked slowly towards the man lying on the bed.
Han Yun Xiang moved his head and smiled gently.
His bed has been adjusted in a comfortable position as he was expecting Han Meixiu's visit.
Seeing his daughter standing before him, his eyes softened. He knew as a father he's a failure. It's a good thing she met a good man.
"It's good that you're really safe and sound."
Han Meixiu simply nodded as her voice was seemingly buried down while her emotions were starting to get out of control.
There was no sound that could be heard inside the room except from the soft tick of the clock hanged on the wall.
Nobody wanted to talk as if they both enjoy the silence company of each other.
"I didn't see the first snow fall of this year." Han Yun Xiang said as he looked out the window.
Since the room's temperature was well controlled, he really didn't know how's the weather outside.
"It hasn't snowed yet." Han Meixiu answered. She felt that her father didn't really want to talk about the topic she wanted to discuss and she didn't have a heart to initiate a conversation regarding that.
She could only follow his lead. If he wanted to talk about the weather, then she could only respond something about it.
But she was wrong.
When Han Yun Xiang spoke again, there was a loneliness masked on his voice.
"It was the first snow of the year when I first saw your mother."
Han Yun Xiang said and retracted his gaze from the window.
"She was lovely, full of life. Her smile was in contrast of the temperature that day, it was warm."
Han Yun Xiang slightly smiled. He could still vividly remember how Zhang Huiling approached him to give an invitation of the event hosted by their class.
Although he knew that she probably smiled to almost everyone, he still felt he was special after she smiled at him.
That time, there was already a plan for him to enter a special type of training arranged by his father. He thought it was just like what everybody did, but he was wrong.
Despite finding out it was not he expected it to be and his training was far more dangerous, he still pursued her.
If he gave up as early as that time, he wouldn't probably ruin his own family.
"Meixiu, father is sorry. I can no longer bring your mother to visit you."
Han Meixiu's lips twitched as she silently listened to her father's words.
"I might not be able to protect you like what your husband is capable, but..."
"Father..."
Han Yun Xiang looked gently at her.
"Your mother, she's no longer..."
"Father, I already met her..."
The sudden surprise was clearly written on his sickly face and his lips parted for a while before he closed them again.
"I see."
"I'll tell you about it but, can you tell me first how did you get injured? Is it because of mother?"
Han Yun Xiang shook his head.
Although when he was imprisoned, he was indeed 'tortured' but it wasn't life threatening at all.
"No."
"Then how?"
Han Yun Xiang was conflicted. How could he say to his own daughter that the woman he took care and protected for three years was the exact woman his wife hated and a clear threat to her past life.
He didn't know exactly what happened, but what happened to Wang Jinyi was clearly not an accident.
If they really met that time, he didn't know what could that woman do to their daughter. He's not afraid for his safety as he could defend himself.
But Han Meixiu was an easy target. Zhang Family even with the old couple couldn't protect her. She wasn't entangled with the Liu Family that time.
She was clearly vulnerable.
"Wang Jinyi was your mother's direct rival for the position of being the leader. When she realized she's losing, she escaped with an information about your mother."
"She under gone an operation to look exactly like your mother. She wanted to get both you and me."
"It would be a form of emotional torture for your mother."
"The night of her 'accident' was the time she wanted to order someone to find you in Q City. It was a good thing she was stopped."
"As I guarded and hid her for the next three years, nobody knew where she was and probably her followers thought she was really dead."
"It was good thing I cooperated with the military. I could hid properly."
"Huh? Military?" Han Meixiu got confused.
Wasn't her father a person wanted by them?
"It was a simple agreement." Han Yun Xiang said upon seeing the reaction of his daughter.
"I just became an informant for them." He said simply.
Han Meixiu knew it probably wasn't that simple but didn't pry further.
'Then that explained why Xiao Xiao got the place where they were hiding.' Han Meixiu thought.
"Who found out where Wang Jinyi was?"
"Your mother. She personally 'visited' her."
Han Meixiu's eyes widened in shock as her brain stuttered to process the information.
"Then..then.....it was..."
"She killed Wang Jinyi." Han Yun Xiang uttered in a flat voice. Zhang Huiling already changed. She wasn't the same woman he married years ago.
His sweet Lin Ling was already gone.
And it was because of him.
Han Meixiu bit her lips. Although she knew that being a leader of that kind of organization wasn't an easy task, what her father said still gave her goosebumps.
Her mother, Zhang Huiling, could kill a person without batting an eyelash.
She started to get worried.
Was it right to provoke her and called her 'coward'?
'Damn!'
She should have talked to her father first before she planned of luring out her mother.
But it has been done.
