Chapter 7: Telling Johnathan
"Stupid idiot!" I swore for the 15th time. What now? What should I do? Should I go over and protest to mother and father? They'll surely ask me how I found out and Aron and Jackson punishment will be worse then being scolded by my father. I just have to calm down and think straight.
Four more days before they arrive. How much can I do in four days? I don't even know where to start! What should I do? I pace uneasily in our greenhouse. Since there is no waterfall at my house, the greenhouse seemed the best option.
Stupid, but it was worth staying in my bedroom all day.
"Everything okay?" asked a voice behind me. I was startled.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you sis" said John.
"it's okay" I smiled.
"So, no waterfall?" he teased. I laughed.
"hmm we don't have a place to fit in one" I giggled.
"I know the perfect place" his eyes glowed.
"Really?" my smile widened.
"it's a little place called "Marissa's head'" he joked.
"Haha great joke too bad It didn't find any humor to make me laugh" I said, trying to keep a straight face.
"My loss" he held his hands up.
"Now tell me. Why are you upset?" he asked. you might as well tell him, said the mental voice. Oh
will you give me a break?! I thought.
"John, what do you think of Damen Enigmar?" I asked.
"he's okay" he replied, playing with a red flower.
"Define 'okay'" I said. He chuckled.
"You know what I mean. I apologize gravely for what I'm about to say but I think he is a total 'snob'. Cares nothing more than losing his money. Why d'ya ask?" he said. I breath in and out.
"Do you know father's ideas? He's getting me married. They want me leave. I'm not wanted here anymore" I bite my lip to hold myself from crying.
"What did you say?" his voice, beyond shocked. His eyes shot back at me.
"Is it true?" I asked.
" I don't know" he said slowly, and I knew his head was swirling with every kind of way to stop this but I knew he couldn't. No one could. If my father set his mind to do something, he doesn't stop
until it's completed.
"Does Nora and Ella know?" he frowned.
"Ella and Nora had left me. I go to the Guards Work Room to apologize to Aron and Jackson and they... They told me... They told me that they heard father was talking about an engagement and they heard my name" I sighed and closed my eyes.
" Well if it's father's decision... We can't stop it" said John and I burst into tears.
