Chapter 4: Chapter Three (Kryscht)
As I watched her walk absentmindedly towards the fire, I took her appearance in, from her dark chocolate colored eyes, her long wavy ebony hair, her thin petite frame, and her thin dress that clung to her body like a second skin as she dripped rain water all the way to the fireplace. As I was deep in thought I finally noticed that she curtsied and had asked me, in a rather self-depreciated manner, if she could join me. I wondered to myself why she was soaked and why she wasn't at home with the family I was sure that she had. I then found myself wondering why I cared.
"Yes, young one you may, however, you must seat yourself near the fire."
She again curtsied and stood there stupefied because the only other chair by the fireplace was the one right next to me. I watched as she dug a small coin bag out of the folds of her dress and I was flabbergasted at just how little money she had. As she sat there counting the little bit she had she called the barmaid over and asked for a flagon of hot grog and thin stew. After she paid for her tiny, I can't even call it a meal more like a snack, she turned towards the fire and I walked over to the bar and requested a second flagon of hot grog as well as a thick and hearty stew and bread and fruit. I told the Inn keep to give her a room as long as she needed it and instructed the food I ordered to be given to her. I then walked over and got my cloak and wrapped it around her, still not understanding my actions and what they meant. She then looked up at me like I was a god, and I swear that my heart stopped, restarted and stopped again. "Thank you milord but I am not worthy of such a gift."
