Chapter 7: A date with grandma (Part 2)
Feng Mei started to compose herself as she doesn't want her grandma to be suspicious of anything and started to bow down at her courteously just like what she saw in historical dramas she watched before.
"Mei'er greets grandma", she said after standing up straight again.
"Hmp, since when did you have a gall to greet me so formally when you don't even do so before and just barge in completely", Matriarch Feng snorted at her though she's only faking it.
Feng Mei is at lost as she doesn't know how the previous Mei'er acts in front of her grandma.
"Also, you even forgot your promise for today to accompany me at the market place and wake up very late today", Matriarch Feng said as she scolded her in her mellow voice though her eyes is looking at Feng Mei very sharply and Feng Mei remembered her terror professor before, during the time that she's still studying in University.
Feng Mei is at lost on what she's going to do today to appease her grandma's wrath at her so she tried to give her, her sweetest smile and tried to act cute in front of her.
"Grandma, I'm really sorry for that as I slept very late yesterday because I read a very interesting book last night. Can you forgive Mei'er just this once?", Feng Mei ask while she folds her hand like she's praying then tried to soften her voice and her eyes blink as she tried acting like those cute anime girls she watched before.
Matriarch Feng's eyes seems to lessen its sharpness and just said, "Hmp, fine, let's go now as it is already late and it's still an hour ride before we reached the market place". Then, she started to get up from her seat while her two handmaidens helped her get up and started to walk towards the doorway.
Feng Mei started to walk beside her grandma then she grabbed her grandma's hand and used her own arms to support her grandma while they are walking.
They reached the gate of the Feng's household and there she saw a carriage waiting for them.
The carriage is big and very luxurious as it was adorned by rubies and gems. The two horses carrying it is also from the finest breed of horses though Feng Mei doesn't know much about horses but she could see that they are well trained due to their behavior.
They now started to climb on to the carriage. She let Matriarch Feng entered first while she followed after her. Inside of the carriage, she could see that it could fit up to four people.
Her grandma started told the coachman to go to the market place. The carriage started to move with the accompaniment of their other servants and guards who are riding their horses outside the carriage.
Feng Mei started to open her curtain to observe her surroundings. She's quite amazed and astonished as she saw the beautiful sceneries outside. They had walked on the foot of the mountains and now, the forest where they are walking is very beautiful and peaceful which she could only see if her family went in a vacation in some faraway province but, this is still incomparable to that place on her world as this place has the freshest air quality.
Just like what her grandma said, they took an hour travel to reach the market place in the capital. Her buttock is already numb from sitting for so long and also she's feeling quite noxious now as the road is very bumpy earlier.
Their carriage started to walk inside the market place while the people started to move away as their carriage walks in. She's quite astonished as just like what she saw in the historical dramas she had watched before, the place is also quite lively just like the market place in the modern era.
There are stalls which sells food just like vegetables, fruits, meats and fishes. There are also stores that sell clothes, shoes and accessories.
Their carriage stopped in front of a clothing store which named 'A Thousand Years Haven'. They started to get out of the carriage just like earlier her grandma is the first to get outside while her handmaidens helped her to get down followed by Feng Mei.
Feng Mei was amazed as she saw how big and luxurious the store is compared to the previous store which they had seen earlier. They now started to walk inside the store and they were greeted by a row of servants which are now bowing at them as a greeting.
The inside of the store is full of painting and tapestries which are made of high quality and she deduced that it is quite expensive. There are also antique vases on the side decorated with a flower.
Then, a woman who seems to be in her forties approached them. She bowed at them courteously first as greeting and said while a smile plastered on her face, "Good day Madam Feng and young mistress. It is nice to see you two here today. How may I help you today?"
This woman is Madam Lin and the owner of this store. She's wearing a white dress decorated by flowers and looks to be made of a high quality clothing material.
"Good day to you too, Madam Lin. We came today to inquire if the items that we had reserved last month has already arrived", Matriarch Feng said politely and virtuously, very different from her attitude to Feng Mei earlier though she really doted on this granddaughter of her and just acted like that earlier to be pampered by her own granddaughter.
"Oh, don't worry Madam Feng. The items have been delivered. Just wait for a few moments in our waiting area as my servants will prepare it", Madam Lin said politely as she points her hands in the direction of their waiting area.
Then, she led them along with her servants towards the waiting area.
Their waiting area is also luxurious and decorated just like in the lobby of the store. They sit on the chair then the servants started to pour them tea.
Her grandma and Madam Lin started to talk of some pleasantries such as how refreshing the tea tasted and how the ambiance of the place is very good.
After a while, Madam Lin's servant started to came with a huge treasure chest in their hands. The treasure chest seemed to be made from a fine wood.
"Madam Feng, here are the items that you had requested", Madam Lin said after she get up from her chair and open up the treasure chest.
Feng Mei saw that it was an items use during wedding ceremonies and also that seemed to be her red wedding gown and her headdress.
Feng Mei is amazed as she saw how beautiful her gown is and also how beautiful the design of her headdress is. She couldn't help but to think, 'I think this marriage is not bad as my family really prepared for me, I just don't know whether my future husband is handsome or at least have a good personality'.
After that, Feng Mei and her grandma started to went out of the store while their servants started to grab the treasure chest and take it outside.
Once outside, Feng Mei and her grandma started to enter the carriage again. Then, her grandma instructed the coachman to take them to a restaurant named 'Golden Phoenix Restaurant'.
"I know that you are already starving and exhausted from the journey that we had earlier and I'm also starving", her grandma explained as Feng Mei thought that once they accomplished their task they would start to go home now to their household.
And so, the carriage started moving to the direction towards the said restaurant.
