Realizing what she had just said, Jade quickly corrected herself. "Well, nothing's definite, but I plan to look for somewhere closer to the cafe."
"Alright, I didn't ask for your life story…" Mr Frisch rolled his eyes. "Just stop waking me up so late!"
With that, Mr Frisch turned around and pushed the door shut. Although he seemed grumpy and inconsiderate, he was not a hypocrite, so the door barely made any noise when he pushed it to.
A heavy sigh escaped from Jade's lips as she turned around and carried on up the stairs while she grumbled internally, 'When I move, hopefully the neighbors will be a little more understanding than grumpy old Frisch…'
She soon reached her front door. After briefly fumbling for her key in her bag, she quietly turned the lock and slipped into the room. She dropped her bag on the table by the door and threw herself onto the sofa.
The moment she hit the soft furniture, the stress from the day began to seep out of her, and she could feel the drowsiness in her eyes.
'What a day… I hope this kid comes to see me. He had better be decent. Harry leaving is bad enough, but if her replacement is bad as well… I don't even know what I'll do.
'And God, please, please, do not allow that Frank to come back… That dude creeps me out.'
As she felt herself drifting off, Jade's eyes snapped open.
"Nope," she muttered, "I can't fall asleep here again. I need to rest properly in bed."
She went into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water and grabbed a biscuit while she was there. Then she went into the bathroom, brushed her teeth, and washed her face.
After changing into her soft, cotton pajamas, Jade was ready for bed.
'Good night, me. Let's hope tomorrow is easier than today. I don't want to grow any gray hairs yet…'
…
Jade's sleep that night was not at all restful. It seemed to consist of weird dream after weird dream, each one stranger than the last.
In one, she was working at the cafe as usual when she fell over and chipped a tooth. Because it was early, and the shop was not open yet, she lay on the ground in pain, but no one was around to help.
After a few minutes of suffering, Frank came in to help her. He picked her up and placed her on a chair. Just as she was thinking that she had misunderstood him, he told her that he had to remove the chipped tooth, and then he immediately yanked that tooth straight from her mouth.
From the pain, Jade passed out, only to enter an even weirder dream.
Jade was, for some reason, learning to fly on the roof of her apartment building. She leaped off the roof and began falling. She feared she would plummet to her death, but at the last moment, she swooped up. She then proceeded to zip around the building, laughing all the way.
Just as she was beginning to enjoy the dream, Mr Frisch appeared on the roof to complain about the noise. Waving a broom, he attempted to get Jade to stop her flight. Eventually, the broom clipped her arm, which was acting as a wing, and she fell straight to the ground.
