"Noooooo" a dissatisfied voice was heard within the Trinity tower.
This voice was of Steven, who was extremely dissatisfied due to the arrangements which were made for him without even taking his opinion. Steven did not have any such ambition of becoming the strongest man in the world. He only wished to live his life peacefully while also taking revenge against Frank.
But these had no connection to what Remur had just said to him. He did not want to learn anything under this Old man named Remur. He did not even know where he was and how did he come here?
He was not happy and to convince the later to abandon his thoughts on him tried saying "Umm, Mr. Remur I don't really wish to become any such existence among men. I have only one wish that is to live happily and in peace."
"Could you please select some other person for the Lord or something, please?" Steven asked Remur in a pleading tone.
"What did you say brat?" bellowed Remur in an extremely loud voice. His expression was so severe that if expressions could kill, then surely there would be not Steven in this world from the next instant. In a voice containing anger, he continued "Did you think that entering into the Tower was so easy that anybody could enter whenever they wanted, huh? The tower can only be accessed by the one who has been chosen by the Trinity locket in your neck. And just for you to enter here do you know how many years we had to wait?"
"There is nothing you can do about this, and if you are obstinate about this then you could deny this chance but that would result in your death. It's your choice." finished Remur.
Steven could feel that instead of it being a choice it was more like being forced to do something otherwise only death follows. He was in a dilemma now, he did not wish to start endless struggles under someone's pressure, but this also reminded something about this world that the powerless ones would always be hunted and used as slaves in this world, if he really does not become strong and offends someone with a more powerful background then it would essentially prove to be his doom.
He did not want such an ending too, and he also knew that he was mostly impulsive this was not because he was courageous but because he was originally a person of Earth and was accustomed to speaking out against injustice and bullying as there even powerful people had to be careful of the Law if proper evidence could be provided.
But this world was different, there was no law here, pure power rules this world. The one with the strongest punch would be alive to see the next sunlight while others would eventually fade in time. Though there were laws those were manipulated by people in powerful position. Only in case of a mass awakening of the world's population would any powerful person be ever implicated and even then there would still be traces of other powerful people involved in the uprising of the populace.
This was the reason Steven started to consider his options. At last, when he would face difficulties and life or death situations only personal power would be able to help him that includes physical power.
Steven had finally decided, he calmed himself and asked Remur "I am ready about this, but could you explain to me what would I gain as the Tower Lord?"
"Did you think you would be given the Tower Lord position if you want it, huh? You got to earn your way to become the Tower Lord, understand. The Trinity Tower acts like a dungeon which has 100 Levels, you have to clear all the levels to actually become the Tower Lord." Remur answered Steven in a mocking way.
"What, there are 100 Levels wouldn't that take me years to actually become the Lord?" asked Steven while continuing with another question "And how after these 100 levels what would I really gain? Could you please describe that?"
"Boy. now you are stepping on my nerves. Do you think I have to answer you? If you do not accept the role then anyhow you would die, so what is the use of answering you? Also, do not forget that you are only a potential candidate, you have to first pass a trail to actually become the candidate otherwise what use will your questions have. Okay let's make it simple, if you are able to pass the trial I will personally answer all your questions, how about it?" asked Remur.
"This is really unfair you know." Added Steven, he knew that even if Remur did not answer him the worst that would happen is that he would die. He had already resolved to go through it otherwise there would be only a dead end in front of him. So he continued "So when and where do I take this trail?"
"Ho Ho, so you have finally relented, good for you." said Remur and then with a wave from his hand the wall of the edge where he had been the statue started to glow with light and Remur continued "Go through this portal and it will take you to the trials which is level zero." while also throwing a short sword towards Steven saying "Also catch this sword, you would need it."
Steven caught the sword and knew there was nothing more to speak so he went to the portal and slowly disappeared.
*
The moment Steven had disappeared; another wall started glowing this was the wall which was in the adjacent left of the Tower's Door. A woman of bluish shade and a beautiful face came out of the portal and walked next to Remur.
"Remur, what do you think should we continue with it? You do know right that we cannot do any mistakes, there are no chances here. Lots of lives are at stake. And this boy is truly not up to my expectations, if required we could try again for someone else, maybe we would find someone else better than this boy." That woman said in a hesitant way.
"Nilandra, you should remember that we had to wait more than a thousand years for the Trinity locket to finally chose someone as a candidate. If we let him go and we do not find another candidate within a year or two, do think there would be any hope left then?" asked Remur in an irritated tone.
"Also do not forget that who created the Trinity Locket, the Trinity Locket cannot and will not make any mistakes in its choice." He added in a more praising voice.
"I understand that but you know right that sometimes the wisest of people make mistakes. There is a chance that he could have done it too. We should really think about this, the stakes are too high to mess up. And I really do not have faith in this guy." Spoke Nilandra in a more convincing voice.
"No, my decision is final. We will have to depend on him in the future, and there will be no more changes. Now return to your own floor, this floor is not your place to be" answered Remur with Authority.
*
Steven had just entered into a creepy place which was a room, there were only slimy remains on the floor and the walls also had slime covered in all of them. When he took the first step something changed.
All the slime that was covering the floor and walls started converging in the middle of the room. Three blobs of slime were changing rapidly. Two slime blobs were red in color while one in the middle was Blue.
What he saw was three slimes taking form. He understood immediately that they were his enemies in the trial. An ancient voice sounded in his ears instantly saying "You have to defeat the slimes as your trial. As you are not a cultivator till now that is why this trial is easy but do not underestimate them."
Steven knew that was the voice of Remur and he brought his guard up. He also started to observe the slimes and caught sight of something. He saw that the blue slime had a stone like structure inside it while the red ones did not have it. Instantly he understood that the blue slime was most probably a level 1 Slime while the others were level zero.
He knew that there was no escape and he has to win it, all the more because it was his first fight ever. He calmed himself down and gathered all the strength he could muster and with full determination, his one step fell on to the floor while he jumped with power.
His movement was his only strength against the slimes as they were known to be the slowest creatures in existence, but the blue slime was tougher than he thought. He had started moving in zig-zag way as well as around the slimes in hope to stab the easier ones first. But the blue slime was moving its upper body more quickly than he thought it would be able to.
The red ones were slow and he had found a way to take them down. Without waiting he jumped at the slimes with full power and a killing intent to take them down. There was only clarity in his eyes.
