Chapter 11: The scene

In this lifetime, I had encountered and seen a lot.

At five years old, my father fell asleep behind the steering wheel causing our car to crash into a thick pine tree. My parents in the front seats died on spot while I miraculous survived with some light bruises. That evening, Patrick was at my grandma's place and thus escaped unscathed.

When I was thirteen, I woke up one day to find my grandma sleeping peacefully on her bed and never waking up again.

At the age of sixteen, my assigned guardian did anything but guard me. Instead of providing me protection, he provided me insecurity by sexually assaulting me on several occasions. I wanted to press charges against him, but what power did a teenager possess? In the eyes of the adults, I was classed as an attention seeking teenager. Luckily, my nineteen years old brother was sober and sensible for once, and claimed himself as my new guardian.

Recently, at the age of eighteen I once again experienced a life threatening situation in the dark alley.

But none of the past experiences could have prepared me for the scene in front of me.

"Mm, baby, that feels so good. Don't stop." A lewd voice sounded out.

I quickly put my hand in front of my eyes and turned my head away in order to protect my self from further grotesque images. To see a barely clothed man and a woman having sex against a tree had never been my hobby.

Jason beside me also started to feel uncomfortable and avoided to look at the strangers in front. He discretely indicated with his head that we should quickly leave. The unshamed couple seemed to be too busy to notice us and continued with their actions.

"Oh, baby, you are like a beast... Ouch! Be gentler, will you?"

By some unknown reason, I abducted my fingers at that moment and saw the man's mouth at the level of the neck. His lips were pulled apart, showing his teeth. Especially the cannies were elongated and inserted into the skin.

As by an instinct, I grabbed Jason's beer bottle and started to sneak forward. Confused by my movements, Jason grabbed my arms but I pulled my index finger over his lips and silenced him.

The man had his back towards us, which meant that he wouldn't see me coming. The woman was so lost in her lust and desire that she also didn't expose my presence. Luckily, soft grass was underneath my feet. Otherwise I would probably still not make it without him noticing.

When I was close enough, I raised my arm and smashed the glas bottle towards his head. It stopped however in midair. Before I could blink, the man had dropped the woman and licked his bloody lips. A gasp could be heard behind me.

"What the hell?"

"It is quite rude to disrupt me while I am feeding, little mouse." The vampire smirked and tossed my weapon out of my reach.

"Feeding?! What in the world are you?" Jason exclaimed while taking a step back. I would also copy him if it wasn't for the vampire's firm grip around my arm. Damn his inhuman strength!

"Someone on the top of the food chain." He closed in on me, while I struggled and took a sniff on my neck.

"You smell sweet."

"Nope! I think you must have mistaken." My voice pitched and my heart rate peaked.

"I stink and taste awful. I-if you eat me, you would puke for three days and three nights." I babbled on.

"Oh, then I truly must have a taste. It is my first time finding such a disgusting meal." He licked my neck as if he prepared for the insertion of his fangs.

"No! Please God no!" I felt my eyes watering and pushed him with all my might.

"Leave her alone!"

A punch was aimed towards the predator, causing him to catch it with his free hand. His emerald eyes started to glint and then he locked them with Jason's.

"Obliviscaris omnia quae vidistis. Dormire."

On command, Jason entire body lost its muscle tonus and collapsed on the ground. If the situation wasn't as grave as it was, I would probably have laughed at the strange way he fell down.

"Jason! What did you do to him?" I screamed instead and tried to move towards him, but was hindered by the vampire.

"Please. Let me go."

Seeing his power, I knew any struggle was useless. In every sense I was inferior to this vampire. It would be mission impossible to escape. I wanted to curse my righteous ways. If I had just ignored the helpless woman, I wouldn't have doomed myself and Jason.

"You are quite interesting, little mouse." He rubbed his chin with his thumb and then closed the last distance between us, while I attempted to back away.

"I'm not. I am very boring. So please don't bite me."

His index finger lifted my chin upwards, bringing my face even closer to his. He was truly a sight to be seen with his sharp cheek bones, but at that moment I had better things to do than to admire his looks.

"Most people wouldn't choose to disrupt when encountering a frivolous couple in the middle of the love act."

"Most people wouldn't smash another's head unless it was for a good reason... such as to protect someone from danger" He breathed into my ear, before leaning backwards.

I tried to stay calm and supress my instincts, since I knew they would only get me killed quicker. It felt like he was on to something. Did he know of my knowledge of vampires?

"Now tell me, little mouse, how did you conclude that I was a vampire?" He asked with a glint in his eyes.

"What do you mean? I didn't. I saw a psycho with sharp teeth biting a helpless woman and tried to save her. Anyone else would have done the same."

When hearing my excuse, he chuckled.

"They wouldn't. You know why? That's because most humans wouldn't even have seen past my illusion... but you did."

"Illusion?"

"Yes." He licked his lips while stating at me as if I was a rare desert. "You know, I am still quite hungry. Maybe you should give me a taste after all?"

"No! Please get away from me!" I begged even though I knew it would be fruitless.

"You are lucky." I blinked. What did he say?

"Because of your uniqueness, I will spare you for now."

I silently breathed out in relief.

"You have to save the best for the last after all. Let us see if you can elude this." A smirk was planted on his handsome face, causing me to gulp.

"Obliviscaris omnia quae vidistis. Dormire."

With those words, I lost consciousness.

Please pardon my latin ?

P.S. Feel free to check out my new book called "The journey of Ying and Yang". It is about two Gods with polar personalities, who are forced to cooperate after offending the Celestial Emperor. The writing style is a bit different compared to this, since it is written in an all-knowing point of view.
