Chapter 1: MARTHA MATTERS
A 50-year-old mother of two and a loving wife to her devoted husband. Their live's in a bliss and have been living comfortably in one of the village in Makati.
To friends, they were the symbol of a happy and perfect family. Until one fateful night that changes everything.
Four robbers forcibly entered their bungalow while Martha and husband Victor was out for a dinner with friends. They came home around 11 in the evening to find their two daughters tied up and badly beaten by the robbers.
Victor was hit by the butt of the gun as he enters the door and Martha was pushed to the floor.
The robbers speaking in Arabic were asking Martha for a paper document, which to her knowledge is not existing. Or so, at least inside their home.
One of the robbers shot the two daughters in point blank leaving them sprawled on the floor with their own blood.
Victor was screaming while trying to untie his hand but to no avail. Martha was trying to control her tears by showing a brave face. Her hands were untied. Perhaps the robbers thought she's just an ordinary woman.
Until Martha let loose her emotion, pulled a roundhouse kick to one of the robbers then disabling his gun. One robber tried to shoot her but missed. Martha went on a killing. She snapped the neck of one of the robbers before grabbing one of the guns from the other man. Martha fires at the three robbers and they exchanged fire. When the smoke was clear, all four robbers were already dead. Just in time for the police to arrive at the scene. A neighbor heard the commotion and dialed the local 911.
Victor was in shock. The bodies of their daughters were carried out by the ambulance after police finished investigating the crime scene.
"What was that all about?," asked Victor.
Martha just kept quiet as she stared across the window looking at the bodies of her daughters brought outside to the waiting ambulance.
She knows it's the beginning of something that has been haunting her for more than 25 years.
She knows they have to run and hide, change address, or else, there are people who will be back to finish what the four robbers failed to do.
This is Martha. And this is her story.
