Chapter 35: The ruler of Mount Evergreen

"I am!"

The voice was of a growl. We turned around and saw what had stunned us. A lava scaled, four horned fire dragon was behind us, breathing heavily.

Although I can transform into a dragon, wasn't this huge. My dragon size was already huge, but not like its size.

"Greetings, senior," we said in unison.

"Hey beasty!" said Pangu. I slapped my forehead because of his stupidity.

"Who said that!" growled the dragon.

"Said what, senior?" I said, as if I hadn't heard anything. I sent a mental message to Pangu saying, "If you want us to live, then if you please, SHUT UP!"

The dragon started to doubt itself, "Never mind. The Winged Lion is my possession, and no one would be able to take it from me!"

"No one?" asked Tulip. "Are you sure? There are many people that can get it out of here."

"Like who?"

"Like our senior brother Merlin!"

"Ah, Merlin!"

"You know him?" I asked.

"Of course I know him! Who on Earth doesn't know Merlin the great sorcerer!"

"My question is, are you two on good terms?"

"I think so. I helped Merlin through a lot of his adventures, especially that one when he slayed the gorgon Medusa once and for all!"

"What did you say? Merlin was the slayer of Medusa?"

"Yes."

"But doesn't it reborn from the depths of the pit of Tartarus?"

"It would naturally, even after the end of Greece. However, Merlin cast a spell that bound her from rebirth."

"Oh."

"Enough on Merlin. The beast won't be yours, even if Merlin interferes!"

"Oh come on, senior! Don't be too stubborn. It is just a lion with wings."

"You know very well that it is not an ordinary one. My decision is firm!"

"Can you give me a moment, please?"

The dragon nodded, or it seemed to. Tulip looked me in the eye and said, "What are you going to do?"

"You will see."

"Don't do anything stupid!"

"He will," whispered Pangu. I didn't bother with them for now.

Instantly, two blue scaled dragon wings sprouted from my back. My skin started to turn to blue, and scales covered my hands. Two horns grew out of my head.

Soon enough, I became an ice dragon, slightly smaller than the fire dragon. I looked at the dragon and said, "Now we can talk, dragon to dragon."

"An ice dragon?" said the fire dragon with cold eyes, if that was even possible. "The fire dragon clan is an enemy of the ice dragon clan, and you want me to give you one of my possessions?"

"What are those?"

"Have you never heard of these clans?"

"Not really."

"Then where do you originate from, ice dragon?"

"I have undergone a transformation which led me to this."

"I see."

"Will you let us take the Winged Lion now?"

The dragon laughed and breathed fire, then said, "In your dreams!"

"What is wrong with you?"

"The fire has always been the opposite of ice. The first two realms where of ice and fire, and because of their enmity, all the realms were created.

"Am I supposed to befriend you just because you are a dragon? If so, I should hate you more!"

'This dragon is too.... Stubborn,' I thought. "What can we do to earn your favor?"

"Do you dare to challenge me into a breathing fight?" it answered.

"What is that?"

"A breathing fight is when two dragons fight each other with their breath. If you preserve for 5 seconds, then the Winged Lion is yours!"

After a long time of thinking, I finally said, "I challenge you to a breath fight."

"I accept your challenge!"

Immediately, fire came out of the dragon, and an icy wind came out of mine. The two breaths intertwined with each, with mine being beaten.

After 5 seconds, the fire dragon stopped the fight, as did I. He nodded and said, "I will honor my word, the beast is yours."

Without saying anything more, he flew and disappeared behind the mountain. However, I wasn't well.

I turned back to human form, but lost balance immediately. Tulip rushed to help me on my feet before passing out.
