Chapter 3: Three

Everyone around me started to get excited, except a couple who seemed like it was below them to geek out like the others. I could literally feel the excitement radiating off Zira and that has nothing to do with magical sensitivity, he was just obvious.

But why does it feel like I am missing something major in what the Elder said?

Zira nudged me, noticing my confusion. "You don't go to Elecon Prep," he whispered.

That was it! Everyone at this table other than me went to the prestigious Elecon Preparatory School of Magic, Elecon Prep for short by students and the prep school for literally everyone else in existence.

I didn't go for many reasons, the main one being that when I try to do magic aside from my stupid abilities, it is dangerous. Also, when I lose control of magic, it is dangerous. When I get emotional or frustrated or too worked up or lose my shit, it is also dangerous. I am a ticking timebomb of magic, it is not something you want in a magic school. That aside, apparently every mage is also clever and I clearly don't fit into that group since I was at summer school and set to fail regular high school as it is.

"Um, confused delinquent who doesn't go to the prep school here," I decided to point out, raising my hand. Apparently the Elder hadn't forgotten that major detail. The entire council seemed to be completely unfazed, Con actively looking away from me.

The Elder finally answered, "You will be enrolling next week for the new year." What the fuck! That wasn't what I wanted to here, I would prefer it if they told me they forgot about me. They must have lost their minds from reading the stars too much because this was complete insanity.

"I think I speak for all 10 of us here when I say that this is completely insane," a girl said loudly, standing up. I recognised her face from something or another, Farida Janse.

Preach girl.

"I think you are underestimating his potential," the Elder countered.

"I think you are overestimating his potential because his brother and sister are two of the most successful mages of the century. He has no sight, no control, no connection to nature and little to no common sense or brains. He will hold us back and more likely cause the end of the world than save it."

Seriously, preach! I mean I am the only one with common sense in my family and I had brains for things like languages and art so it wasn't all true, but she had a point.

For some reason some of these kids actually seemed to feel bad for me despite probably thinking the same. Zira seemed especially affected by what was being said about me even though he was usually a shit best friend that dragged me into his shitty fights. "I think that's a little harsh, Farida." People around the table seemed to agree, the adults just watching us.

I leant back further in my chair and crossed my arms with a sigh. "I, for one, completely agree with the chick. If the stars are being serious, what was prophesised was me messing up some spell or exorcism the school want me to do, if I even get to that stage. But yeah, they'd just be stuck cleaning my shit."

There was a snort from behind me and I turned my head to see on of the Enoxion out of stance. "With that attitude, maybe. You have a black aura, do you know how rare that is?"

"Nope! Can't see them." I turned back to the Elder, my face now serious. "Besides, I don't even want to be a mage. I planned to permanently seal my powers on my next birthday." The Elder was more than aware of my decision.

"Wait, what? How come I didn't know?" Lex shouted. I turned back and sent him an obvious look. "You spent the last 6 months saying you were never coming home, dipshit. No ne was going out of their way to tell you shit when you were having the world's longest temper tantrum." A snicker spread through the Enoxion.

"If it makes you feel better, Con found out last week and Zira just now."

"Not really," he mumbled, still acting like a child. I tried at least. And people say I'm the unreasonable sibling.

Honestly though, Lexicon can't do anything from cook to clean to laundry to balancing a cheque book and they were both working adults; it is sort of a miracle the two are even alive. Theoretically Lex still lives at home.

"The star reading overrules your decision." The Elder's stupid words make me snap my head back to the council actually angry. I knew most of the council didn't know what that meant, Lexicon definitely didn't because I never told them, but the Elder knows really fucking well. "If you still want to, you are free to seal your powers but only once the prophecy has been fulfilled." Forget angry, I'm livid.

I stood up, slamming my hand down. My siblings both momentarily lost balance for just a second. "Oi, Mi…"

"Shut up, just control my fucking magic, I'm not in the mood," I growled, glaring at the Elder.

"Tell me that again? Did you just say after the prophecy is fulfilled?" I paused but didn't give anyone a chance to answer. Zira was reaching out to me to pull me down when I slammed my fist against the table. "Do you think my body will last that fucking long?! The prophecy isn't scheduled for next week or anything! You have no fucking clue when or even if it's going to happen!

"What? You want me to worsen my condition by practicing magic for a prophecy I might not even live it fucking see! Chances are I'll get to 20 and my body will combust before the entity even realises! This is a fucking joke!"

At this point Lex was on the ground trying to control my magic while taking in what I said, Con didn't look good either. Zira had gone white as a sheet, actually all the kids here had. The entire room was silent.

Ah, fuck! Lexicon weren't supposed to know about that. Of all ways to tell them it was like that? I'd gotten too worked up, didn't even think about how no one knew about my current condition other than the Elder and Hazuto, mine and Lexicon's doctor.

I could understand my brother's, sister's and Zira's reaction, they knew me, I was a part of their current lives, an important part I like to think. The rest of them though, especially these kids who literally think I'm about as important as scum. Why are they all in shock? Seriously, why? What is it to them? Now that I was worked up their gawking pissed me off.

"Seriously, is a delinquent possibly combusting really the worst of your problems? You should be more worried about the Elix combusting since they apparently they have a tendency to do that. It would suck if the Elix combusted before they save humanity and shit. Pull yourselves together, dipshits." What I'd told them was true, it was the only reason I didn't want Zira to be the Elix – I mean he is totally the Elix but still, I don't want him combusting, that's meant to be me.

As the geniuses took in my words slowly, which was ironic, I sat down, avoiding looks from Lexicon. So I lied to the about my medical and magical examination results, they would've stopped acting like a couple of shitheads and start acting nice to me. That fucks with me more than anything.
