Chapter 11: Adventures Beginning [2]

Lera yelled out as soon as the first half of the event was over, "Everyone, take a quick break, the next portion of the spars will begin shortly."

I stood up and went to one side of the arena to warm up a bit, just because I'm strong doesn't mean I should be arrogant as that wouldn't be an excellent way to act as it could complicate things when I'm on my own.

After a bit of time warming up and playing with the magic particles in the air, I hear my name get called and quickly run up and stand upon one of the platforms.

"Jem, I believe you already know the rules?" One of the judges yells out to me.

I quickly nod and get ready. Soon another student is called up to fight; immediately after called, I see a kid in his early twenties. He was quite strong looking with the amount of muscle on him, and the fact that he had a short sword on his waist meant that he was more than likely a melee mage.

It is a type of magic caster that casts buffs on them selfs and doesn't prefer to hang back like a standard caster. Instead, they love to get up close and personal. Already I can tell this will be an exciting fight.

"Ah, Jem I always figured you'd participate in this year's spar event. You know I have to pay you back for beating me so quickly last time."

I laugh a little thinking back on it. During last year's event, I defeated this student in record time. When they decided it was a good idea to rush me with his sword, I placed a pressure trap where I knew he'd step. As a result of him triggering it, an earth spike rose from the ground and only stopped when it was about to hit something, down below.

It quickly made him concede, after that he's always been wanting a rematch. After some time of him continually wishing to fight, I found out his name was Jim from asking around.

"I look forward to it, Jim!" I laughed and got ready.

Soon a resplendent dome spread above the platform to protect the students and spectators. It was a bright glowing yellow with magic circles freely roaming around and bouncing off of each other.

"Begin!" The judge yelled as it shook the dome a little.

I speedily jump back and begin to cast some spells to protect myself and to go on the offensive. As soon as this happened, Jim once again rushed me like last year. I figured that I should give him a chance and didn't cast a pressure trap. Quickly, Jim soon caught up to me with his superior speed.

Seeing him with this amount of speed compared to last year took me by surprise. He must have come across some fortuitous encounters outside. It startled me a little, and it required me to pay a bit more attention.

Although seeing how fast Jim was sprinting to me, I canceled the defense spell. Instead of taking a backlash, I decided to try something I've been researching for quite some time.

Instead of forming what was going to be a variant of a frost armor spell, I rearranged the magic circles to create an ice sword. Even if the spell wasn't completed, it didn't mean that what I had already made would go to waste.

With Jim seeing the sudden change in my spell structure, he was astounded. Still, with understanding what it created, he smiled. Quickly having our swords meet, there was a significant gale of wind pounding at the inside of the shield that covered the arena along with deep gashes in the ground. Seeing this, the casters that were doing the upkeep almost cried.

"Jim, your stance is off!"

Having said this, I pushed him off balance slightly before giving him a roundhouse kick to the gut; launching him to the shield dome, crashing into it. Again the people in charge of upkeep to the dome had a pained expression on their faces.

"Haha, thanks for the advice!" Jim yelled as he was picking himself up while smiling.

The spectators watching this had pale expressions; the majority of them would have been disabled if they took that kick as Jim did! As well as to get up and smile!? They were both monsters!

"Come on; you can't tell me that's all you got after wanting to battle for so long!"

"Of course not!" Jim yelled back while laughing

Having picked himself up, Jim once again rushed toward me. While running, he cast an agility spell making his movement speed double, having others see after images.

'It's time to finish this fight. Bloodline Ignition!'

After yelling this in my mind, my body shook as if a beast was relishing in its freedom. Quickly white crystal scales developed over my skin looking as if I was only a crystal statue. My eyes turned black with an ominous glow.

Jim slowed down upon seeing my transformation before strengthening his will and sped up.

My mind shook, almost shattering from the pain, "Mortal; you are, weak." an unknown voice yelled out from the depths.

Biting my tongue, I stay focused and meet Jim's sword with my scale covered fist. Immediately breaking the sword and continuing till hitting Jim in the chest. Burrowing a hole where his right lung would be spraying blood all over me and the arena.

The Judge, shocked at what just happened only now yelled out after awakening from his astonishment.

"Jem, Winner!"

Without the people supporting the spell covering the arena, the dome quickly started to dissipate and broke, with the shield no longer there the healers rushed to Jim to save his life.

With the event having ended, I turned to the director, Lera.

"I wish to formally graduate this school, and I will be exploring the worlds once I do, I hope that you agree." I said while bowing

Lera frowned hearing this, and although having a child of God in the school makes them powerful, no matter what rank they're at; it wouldn't be wise to force them to stay if the word were to get out that a school or sect forced a child of God to remain with them.

The school or sect will be guaranteed a swift death from others, knowing that the child of God won't help in their time of need willingly.

With hundreds of eyes looking at Lera awaiting his answer, he sighed, "I agree to your graduation Jem. Stay a few more days, and the school will provide you some equipment for your journey."

"I will stay for a few more days. Thank you, Director."

I bowed and left for my room.

Also to help with releasing more I'll more than likely be releasing only thousand word chapters or a bit more so I can release more since I've been really busy getting my own place. I hope that's okay!
