Chapter 8: You Doubt Lord Fire Demon
Souta looked at his palms which had healed cleanly leaving an unnoticeable slit in the palms, he once again mutilated himself and sewn Bottomless bags into his palms. While one remained empty the other he had loaded with incendiary pellets that would explode on impact. The other one he would fill with gun powder when he had the sufficient ingredients.
Souta in search of such ingredients returned to the market looking for a trader that sold ingredients to alchemists, they weren't very common and thus the high value of pills and other training supplements but the ingredients themselves were cheap as dirt because there was almost no market for them.
Souta looked all through out the market but he was a bit loss until he felt a weight on his arm, turning around he saw it was Nagini.
"Perfect timing woman" said Souta before he had noticed there was a group of females following Nagini.
"Brother Souta these are some of my junior sisters" introduced Nagini
"Sister how can you just talk to Lord Fire Demon like that" shouted one of the girls following.
"Very well, woman I need ingredients" said Souta nodding at the girls following Nagini
The girls were shocked at the fact Souta didn't push Nagini away, they had no idea their senior sister was involved with such a being.
"Senior sister may we accompany you" asked one of the girls
"Brother Souta can they come with us please" said Nagini making eyes at Souta
"Very well" said Souta just wanting his ingredients
The girls following Nagini were in awe at the power of persuasion she had demonstrated but they would never know it was just Souta didn't care.
"Come sister's Brother Souta needs to head to the market" said Nagini as she began leading Souta to his requested trader.
Souta mentally sighed, he just wanted to gather ingredients to keep his charade going.
Souta was eventually lead to a small stall with various ingredients, the stall owner seeing he had a customer leapt from his seat and readily approached Souta and company.
"I need these ingredients" said Souta handing the trader a list.
"Lucky for you sir we have all these in stock, how much would you like to purchase" asked the vendor with hope filled eyes.
"All of it" said Souta standing there and looking at some of the other ingredients the vendor had, he was quite knowledgeable about a number of the ingredients in this world after his extensive reading while he was training.
"On second thought give me that list, I will buy everything you have in stock" said Souta getting wide eyes from the trader.
"Sir are you sure" asked the trader in awe
Souta placed a handful of various jewels on the table before reaching back into his designated Bottomless bag and placing a second handful on the stalls counter.
"I am sure" said Souta
The girls standing with Souta and witnessing the purchase were in awe of the wealth.
'Sister Nagini is so lucky to be able to accompany Lord Fire Demon' thought the girls before a competitive look entered their eyes, if she could do it why couldn't they.
The trader looked at the payment and immediately started stuffing various ingredients in a Bottomless bag before running into the back where various noises were heard before he returned about thirty minutes later with a slightly bulging Bottomless bag.
"Here you go Lord, please come again once I have restocked" said the trader with a delighted smile.
Souta took the Bottomless bag and gave the trader one of his spares.
'If I keep collecting these damn bags I am gonna end up doing something crazy again' thought Souta before quickly returning to his yard.
"Sisters this is where we must part ways" said Nagini smiling
The assembled girls all looked at each other.
"Lord Fire Demon may we accompany you into you home" asked the boldest of the group
"Sure" said Souta as he was focused on his current situation of needing gun powder but he was going to spice up the recipe using some of the other ingredients he bought.
Nagini felt her smile stiffen as she glared at her junior sisters.
Souta ignored all this and entered hid yard and quickly going to his personal room to begin the process.
"Brother Souta darling I will prepare tonight's meal" said Nagini feeling pressured as she began cleaning out the pot from the previous meals.
The junior sisters saw this and went to draw water and prepare other things for the meal.
Outside while drawing the water Nagini decided to get the bottom of this.
"Sister Miko, what you doing" demanded Nagini, both were petite beauties who were sought after by many.
"I am just trying my best to please Lord Fire Demon" said Miko with a giggle
Nagini narrowed her eyes and remained silent.
Drawing the water she returned to the cottage and filled the pot with the help of Miko, Nagini then stared at the other girls as competition. Finding flaws in their actions but she also found areas where she was lacking. Staring at sister Diane she found her chest lacking and began feeling self conscious before turning to look at Sister Wuya staring at her chest she heaved a sigh of relief seeing her chest was not much different from hers but then she bent over to grab some rice.
Nagini sulked as she tried comparing her posterior and found it lacking in comparison, she sulked as she went and stirred the pot as the others added ingredients before removing it to roast a animal from Souta's tribute.
Souta in the meantime was mixing large quantities of ingredients in different ratios after having tested different herbs for their compatibility with the gunpowder he was pleased with the results as he continued mixing before storing into the bag sew into right palm. He had worked quickly as this was a process he was very familiar with so he had gained the ability to eye ball the correct ratios but the addition of the herbs and ingredients unique to this world were slowing his process but he had made many upgraded incendiary pellets he had already stored.
He continued working as the smell of roasted meat pervaded the cottage, he realized he had almost ran out of supplies as he didn't have enough of the other ingredients for his modified gun powder he took the what was left and made the regular gun powder very precisely as he hadn't mixed such large quantities at once before and put the regular gun powder in a spare bag.
"Brother Souta the meal is ready" called Nagini
Souta decided he would since his work was done, he had just sat down when someone was yelling outside his yard.
"I Yarou of the Martial Demon Hunting sect challenge the so called Lord Fire Demon" shouted the voice drawing a crowd.
Souta stood up and his eyes grew cold, a challenger just in time to try his new tactic as well as get him a reputation.
Souta walked to the entrance of his yard and saw a man holding a large halberd, his body covered in an assortment of scars.
"Are you the Lord Fire Demon I have heard about" asked the man
"Depends were you the one shouting just now" asked Souta as looked at the crowd of gathered disciples.
"It is I" said the man
"Then let us fight" said Souta readily
"You are really the Fire Demon" asked the man doubtfully
"I am" said Souta
"You are just a brat, how are you the terrifying Fire Demon" said the man laughing
"You dare doubt Lord Fire Demon" shouted someone from the crowd
The man turned and saw that those gathered were looking at him as if he was heretic, they had seen the control of flames Souta had demonstrated.
"I am the one they call Fire Demon, if you are not willing to fight then be gone I have little patience for the arrogance of mortals" said Souta smirking internally
"Very well then I will defeat you and use your blood to temper my Burning Man Body" said Yarou as he swung his Halberd
Souta ducked under the swipe and kicked the halberd upwards and struck Yarou in the chest coating that spot with a dark powder, Souta struck several more times before Yarou managed to regain control of his halberd and forced Souta back.
"Your strikes are fierce Fire Demon" said Yarou not noticing the powder that was coating his body, to the crowd of viewers it looked as if Souta's hits were singeing where he struck causing gasps among the crowd at the threat lying in those strikes.
Yarou believed they were amazed at his posture so he began swinging wildly while Souta continued weaving around his swings and struck anywhere he could until there were several dark marks all over Yarou's body.
"You are skilled and have trained well Demon Hunter but this is where it ends" said Souta as he inhaled deeply and exhaled an intense stream of fire using the alcohol being supplied to his via Vessel Worm.
Yarou gaped in shock having been unconvinced until this moment, he felt certain points on his body burn fiercely causing him to cry out in pain. Souta didn't let up and took another breath before unleashing another intense stream of flames and subtly flicking a pellet into the blaze landing in Yarou's mouth before Souta ran in with his sword swiftly removed his head and gave it a firm kick causing the pellet to detonate.
The crowd was amazed at the destructive martial prowess, Souta snorted and took the Halberd and returned to his yard where Nagini and her junior sisters had been watching the battle from, Ginjuro meanwhile decided to make the most of this situation.
"Which of you dares to doubt the authenticity of our great Lord Fire Demon, even a skilled Hunter of his kind could not even injure him and his body to be burned by his cleansing hell fire" shouted Ginjuro making some in the crowd faithful believers.
Liam stepped forward and began speaking.
"Lord do not waste your flames on this mortals corpse allow us to be rid of it for you. Hail Lord Fire Demon" shouted Liam
"Hail Lord Fire Demon" disciples throughout the crowd.
"Remember to pay tribute to Lord Fire Demon and perhaps he will bless you with his protection" said Ginjuro trying to reap benefits.
Souta in the meantime sat down to enjoy his meal with the worshiping gazes of Nagini and her junior sisters on him.
'Unexpected outcomes from this small situation' thought Souta he would have to remember to find something to further his array of skills.
