Chapter 59: Chapter 58: The Attack
"So, what's the plan boys? Are we going to sit around and hope that someone is going to give poor Augustus a coin, or are we going to search these dead mother fuckers?"
"Brother, how do you even know they are dead? For all, we know they could be very well alive." Ethan had his foot on the closest boy's face, turning the head left and right to make sure the kid was dead.
"Whatever, just decide."
Ethan looked at his brother and then back at Augustus. Augustus had been in charge of the operation since they joined forces, he had managed to find the secret passage, and get them their final coins, so he was going to follow whatever order Augustus gave.
"We…"
A loud shriek from the top of the castle stopped Augustus from finishing what he was about to say.
Ethan turned to see what had caused the noise.
A young girl, with her hair tied in a bun, not so much older than himself was pointing at them. She had half her body out the open window and his heart stopped. Dangling on the rope that Ethan had thrown out the window were three teenagers, two boys and a girl.
And they were coming down fast.
The closest one had sleek combed black hair, a black singlet, strong muscular arms, and a sexy torso. It was everything that Ethan would love to see from a hot guy. But sticking out between his teeth were a pair of knives.
He was dropping down fast. Letting go of his hands every now and then and clenching the rope again. It wasn't going to take long before he was on the floor.
Ethan wished they could meet in a different place, maybe at the bar, but this was not the time to fantasize. They needed to hurry because the boy was going to hit the floor in minutes.
How he wished that he didn't make the rope so strong and tight, but it would be totally against his style if he didn't. He was a perfectionist.
"We search them." Augustus gave the order, dropping to his knees, he patted the closest body looking for the coins.
There was nothing.
Without skipping a beat, Ethan and Evan spread out, doing the same.
They searched three bodies, six bodies, nine bodies, but there was nothing.
These poor kids had been killed and looted and all that remained were there dead lifeless bodies.
They were getting closer and closer to the stables and then…
A boy shot out from the stables, with his sword pointing towards Ethan.
Ethan acted fast, ducking the attack and hammering his shoulder against the boy's torso, throwing the boy over his shoulder, Ethan stabbed his sword down through the boy's chest.
Dead.
"Fuck, there are more."
Another boy shot out, followed by a girl, and another boy.
They had to run, but where could they go?
Augustus managed to turn around and look at the keep, only to see that the teenagers were replaced with four other kids.
This was not looking good.
Ethan and Evan were both flagged with the green line. If they left him, maybe he would no longer be in the spotlight. If they stayed then, they would have to overcome the obstacles together.
"Forget about me, and…" Augustus stopped what he was saying, a strong tentacle-like grip wrapped around his body.
He tumbled to the floor, crashing onto his back.
The boy who had been on the floor had taken the opportunity and pounced on him, with a hand gripping his wrist, and the other in the air with a knife aimed at his chest.
He was going to end Augustus's life.
The boy plunged his knife down, stabbing into Augustus's chest, blood splattered everywhere.
This was the end, this was how he was going to die, looking into the blue sky, with a knife through his heart.
