Chapter 56: Chapter 55: The Keep

Augustus, Evan, and Ethan made their way passed the corridor and into the keep. Augustus was proud of himself and grateful for how lucky he was to still be alive.

If Ethan and Evan had not believed him, he would already be dead. Instead, he had Ethan on his right and Evan on his left.

They were still protecting him as if he was the king of the world.

The room only helped portray this, with its rich crimson carpet floors, pearl white brick wall, and paintings of triumphs of wars. Augustus felt as if he was taking a tour inside the castle.

This castle must have been owned by someone who was rich.

On any other day it would have been the perfect place to visit, but not today.

"I thought you said there was no one here."

"What animals?" Ethan replied as he leapt over a dead body.

The boy was no older than 14 with a drawn-out thread of blood that dripped from his neck down to the floor.

He had two black eyes and a numerous wound across his body.

There were a dozen bodies across the corridor that looked like this boy.

It sent chills down Augustus's spine.

"Do you think they were all killed by our team?"

"It could be the work of another team. I mean wasn't there four teams?"

Augustus said while staring at the lifeless eyes of a girl that was middle of the room, leaning against the wall.

"We couldn't be the only ones that were told to…" Augustus's voice dropped off.

"How many members of our team do you think are in this group?"

Augustus tugged at Ethan's arm, hoping he would understand while looking at the boy that Ethan had stepped over. He sensed that something was not right.

The boy's chest was moving.

Up and down.

Up and down.

"What's wrong my dear?"

"I don't think they are dead."

Without warning, the boy stood up. Arm out, the tip of his blade, pointing towards them.

And as if in sync all the other bodies on the floor came alive as well.

Knives, swords, axes were lifted as each of the kids got up.

Ethan drew his lance.

Evan raised his sword.

Even Augustus grabbed his hammer, as their backs pressed against each other.

They saw a dozen bodies come to life surrounding them.

It was a trap.
