Chapter 32: Chapter 32 - Xie Li
"Wonderful my children, you have all filled in the form, and we are ready to go."
"As you all know, my name is Xie Li. I come from a Chinese Background so I should tell you what my name means. The first Character Xie means Snow, and the second Character Li means Pretty or Beautiful. But it doesn't include my last name, which is Wang. So, you can call me Ms Wang, though I prefer my Chinese name as it means Beautiful Snow."
"Introductions aside, you have all successfully made it past the preliminary rounds, and you should be proud of yourselves. I know it's been hard for some of you. I can totally understand. You have lost friends. You have watched others die. You have seen blood, guts, and more."
"If I told you, you have passed the biggest hurdle. I don't think many of you would believe me."
"But you have passed the preliminary rounds. From here on in, you will have more control of the tests that you are put in."
"I will advise you at least one day in advance of what to expect in the next round. And it is up to you to choose how you are going to tackle it."
"I will also give you advice and recommendations to help you survive."
"And why would you want to do that?" Tina asked.
"Two reasons, the first being that I chose you. I believe I have a good talent in picking out talent when I'm in charge. The second reason is that it is a competition with the other trainers, and the simple thing is, I like winning. So, I would like my team to be the winning team at the end of the day."
"It's that simple, huh?"
"Yes."
"How many tests more tests are there?"
"Five more."
"And I assume you are going to let us know what they are?"
"Of course, darling. There is a total of seven tests altogether, and you have already passed two of them. They are Speed, Swim, Stealth, Strength, Stamina, Survival and Sorrow."
"And how are you going to help us survive?"
"Well for starters, the next test you will be overcoming is Stealth. To help you overcome this, we will have a crash course tomorrow, after your excursion. I will teach you the Art of Stealing, the Life of a Ninja, and how to disappear at will."
"But for today's session, I just want to give you a quick introduction to the weapons you have chosen. As they will be your bread and butter in the days to come."
"Please pick up your bags."
It was as if she had given a command, at that moment, replacing the mat at the centre, was a silver platform with a hundred backpacks. Each of the backpacks had a white sticker and a name on it. Some even had weapons glad wrapped to them. It must have been because it didn't fit inside the bag.
