Chapter 11: . The poles
"This is another person's familiar!" Karim yelled at us. After leaving the school we returned back to the building and went straight to Karim to tell him about what just happened, but it seemed he just cared that I had an abandoned familiar in my possession.
"That's not the point, Karim! The point is L.I.A.R.. is planning something, the man said he had more," Zeke yelled back at him angrily, Tim stood quietly and nodded along with Zeke. Conrad stepped forward.
"Look, Karim, we're almost certain that L.I.A.R.. are almost at their end game. We've been following them and watching them for years and now, they're moving more, doing more suspicious things and by the sounds of it, they've figured out how to have multiple familiars," he reported to the stubborn Scot behind the desk. Karim stood up and walked over to his office window, looking out thoughtfully, he tapped the glass a few times.
"I guess it's time that we send the frost bitten kids over to the poles," he mumbled. I raised my brow and Tim and Zeke both just walked over to him angrily. Tim grabbed Karim's collar and pulled him up to his height.
"You're not sending us away!" Zeke exclaimed, he sounded like he could kill the man if he tried to do anything.
"What does he mean?" I whispered to JoeJoe, she looked at me and sighed.
"You're a frost bitten kid so is Zeke and Tim. Basically, somewhere in the poles there is a big group of people like you who can help you all grow and become stronger. However, they will only reveal themselves to you guys if you prove you're worthy of their help. If not, you'll be left in the poles to die. That's only because anyone who's not frost bitten can't actually access the area you must go to," she explained, I looked down at the nine tailed fox in my arms. It was watching me with little beady eyes, just I was watching it.
"It's settled, all three of you will leave first thing tomorrow," Karim said.
"No!" Zeke protested.
"Like you said, we think L.I.A.R.. is hitting their endgame and fast, so we need to get all three of you, Zeke, Tim and JJ, up to top strength as fast as we can. Get ready, we'll leave at 4am," Karim ordered before prying Zeke's fingers off his shirt and opening the door, gesturing for us to leave.

I went straight to my room, took a long warm shower and wrapped myself back up in a towel, looking in the mirror again. My hair seemed to get paler, almost whiter than white possibly could be and my eyes had become as equally blue as Zeke's and Tim's. I felt like I was looking at a completely different person, the girl in the mirror wasn't me.
Feeling a wave of anger flow over me, I punched the mirror and watched as it cracked and fell apart. I put both hands on the sides of the skin and looked down. The water on my hair dripping and the steam from my shower floating around in front of me. The sink was covered in glass and my knuckle started bleeding. Sighing, I turned on the cold water and washed away the blood, wincing at the stinging.
I go and change into my pyjamas and then rip up my school shirt and wrap it tightly around my knuckles, it started to take a red tint quickly but I didn't care. Both Lucius and the fox was lying on my bed. Lucius being in his phoenix form, was watching the little fox with predator like eyes.
"Hey, no eating the familiar," I warned him as I slid into my bed sheets and stacked my pillows so I was sitting up. I set an alarm on my phone for 3am and slouched down into the soft cushions behind my back. Lucius perched on a smaller pillow next to me and the fox stood up, unsure whether it was allowed to and slowly walked over to my legs. It hesitated for a couple moments before climbing over one and lying down into the fold where my legs were lying together. It quickly fell asleep and purred happily, Lucius also fell asleep quickly.
I however couldn't because if I moved I could hurt one of them.

3.a.m.
3am came quickly and I found myself packing a backpack with warm clothes. They said we're going to the poles so I can only guess they mean either the north pole or south pole, meaning it'll be cold. But I took a few sets of summer clothes as well, just incase I was wrong or we decided to go on holiday (I highly doubt that'd happen though).
The fox woke up and whimpered, kneeling down in front of my bed where it was looking over at me, I watched it cry.
"Who are you and what is the matter?" I mumbled as the fox looked at me sadly. Suddenly a bright light exploded from the fox and a little girl took its place. She was about the same size as Lucius in his human form and wore the same uniform. She had shoulder length pink hair and kept the nine tailed and fox ears. She reminded me of an anime character that one of my old friends loved with all her heart.
"H-hello, I'm Fern," she introduces herself, hiding behind one of her nine tail and looking away shyly.
"Hello Fern, I'm JJ," I smiled at her and stuck my hand out for her to shake, she just shuffled away from it, "ok...then..."
"My master, where is he?" she asked, I got up angrily.
"Do you mean Rigolo? How preposterous!" I exclaimed angrily. She shook her head.
"No not him! Not that creepy thief!" she shouted back before shrinking down, "I mean Jamie, where is Jamie?"
"I don't know a Jamie," I shrugged, "I'm sorry."
"I can't sense his life essence," she whispered, mostly to herself but I still caught it. It made me heart broken to know that her partner was taken away, she is just a familiar without a person to help or be with.
"You can hang around with me and Lucius if you would like, y'know, until we've found Jamie again? I'm sure he's still alive! Don't worry," I smile at the girl. She smiled and nodded.
"Thank you," she whispered before turning back into her fox form and jumping into my bag that had my clothes in.
"JJ!" JoeJoe yelled, bursting through my door and tripping over her feet, "it's time to go.."
She stood back up and grabbed the now awake Lucius. I grabbed my bag and followed her out of my room and down the corridor until we hit stairs going down into an underground car park. Everyone was already down there ready.
"Let's go," Karim said bluntly.
