Chapter 1: Granted Marriage
I am an unwanted child, I was created from a tremendous mistake. I don't have the right for my future and possession. Even my position is just a display in which I don't hold its authority. In short, I don't own myself.
Once I was born the emperor immediately killed my mother with the reason that she's a shameful person to try to seduce him. Since I am his child he spare me but still neglected me.
I have no recollection of my mother but what I heard is that she also hate me, I'm the reason she was executed so it's only normal to blame a sudden life that was created.
I am now under the emperor's most unfavored concubine though she had never shown any care for me she still take me even it's just for the respect on the emperor, still I respect her for taking in someone unwanted as me.
Today was an auspicious day for the country because the war has come to an end and the emperor held a big banquet which is naturally I'm not invited. I have known for a very long time that I'm already forgotten but I'm fine with it. I have long-lost interest on it.
The night fell and I was surrounded by darkness. I looked at the sky and thought that maybe if I just die everything will end but I immediately throw the thought in my mind.
If I die I will just become more nuisance than I am now and being here is also not bad.
Suddenly I heard a knock on the door of my shabby courtyard and I hurried my steps to open it only to find a eunuch who has a scroll in his hand.
The words that he spout made me froze on the spot.
"Imperial Edict!
9th Princess He Yanyu's marriage has been agreed by the two country of Su and Lou.
Accept the edict!"
So it is an edict, I can't believe it what's happening is this a punishment for me. Is this the reason for the sudden end of the long war? Its impossible I'm just a significant person.
"He... He Yanyu Accepts the edict"
I have no choice, just as I said I'm not the one who decides my fate. I accept the scroll that holds the imperial edict in which anyone cannot question nor refuse.
When he made sure that I have it in my hands he immediately asked to leave.
I open the scroll and read the contents, just as what he shouted.
