Chapter 3: Rayleen of Loop

Morning came by quickly that day. However, since there was nothing she could personally do in that barn, she waited patiently for the man who put her there. She tried breaking through the barn door before, however it was surprisingly sturdy. Or it was that the princess was surprisingly weak. With each passing minute waiting for that sadistic man, she got more and more anxious.

The sun was high in the sky when the man returned with a large sack over his shoulder.

"What's in the sack?" Rayleen asked, after simulating a conversation between them multiple times in her brain.

The man glared at Rayleen and then tossed the sack at her. She fumbled around to catch it, and fell forward. The man burst out laughing as she picked herself up.

Rayleen tried not to get concerned by the man and went to check on the large sack instead. Inside the sack were two human bodies.

She was shocked by the psychotic behavior of the guy before him. "What the hell is wrong with you? How can you laugh like that?" She asked as she held onto the sack. However, she couldn't stand the smell from the sack and hence tried throwing the sack out the barn. However, she wasn't nowhere near strong to do that and the sack hit one of the sides of the barn and started leaking blood and guts out into the ground.

The sight of this grotesque scene made Rayleen sick to her stomach. She couldn't glance at the man who would do this kind of things to normal human beings. However, she didn't quickly jump into the bandwagon and categorized them as 'poor people'. Who know, maybe they were criminals of some kind. Although, that wouldn't give the man before her power to do something like this.

However, she couldn't be concerned about this. All that mattered to her was to escape from this place with her clothes on, of course. Therefore, she pushed the guy with all her might and ran outside the barn. But, it was all for nought since somehow she ended up back in the barn with the man smiling creepily at her.

"Why can't I escape?" She cried. She was pretty sure she escaped the barn and had no idea how she ended back there. Either, it's that the man had actually built multiple barns that she failed to see before, which are identical to one another and has copies of that guy in that barn too or... "I'm in a loop, aren't I? How did you do it? Magic?" She asked.

The guy smiled without answering. Rayleen sighed. "Great work! Give the psychopathic murderer a shotgun and extensive knowledge of magic. I'm sure nothing bad will happen off it!" She grumbled under her breath.

However, she wasn't ready to give up. She tried escaping, but always ended up in the barn with the man before him although with slight variations. She didn't notice it at first, but at times, the man was sweaty. Other times, he was muddy. It felt like she was the only one in this loop for some reason.

Therefore, rather than using her usual tactic of pushing the man to the ground, she tried attempting multiple different approaches at this, thinking that one of them would let her get out of this loop. In the twenty eighth attempt, she ransacked the man off his clothes. And in her thirty eighth attempt, she took off with a bottle of alcohol and some tinder he brought with him for some reason. She did notice that the bottle was just the exclusive item for that attempt. However, once she got out, she ended back in the barn buck naked, without the accessory she carried out, with the man before her, just like all times.

Countless attempts passed by-well, not really. This one was the sixty ninth one; Rayleen counted it no matter what. However, she couldn't hold it in. She felt like she wanted to cry. Tears seemed to pool at the corner of her eyes. She was tired and felt like giving up. However, she couldn't upon she realized one thing. The man wasn't present in this attempt.

Barring the first attempt, which had a natural flow of progression, this was the first one where the man wasn't already in the barn by the time she ended the loop. Instead, this time he came in a little late. And the difference this time? He had the shotgun from back then.

"What do you want?" She asked. She felt like she had to act like this was normal. She couldn't let him see that this was getting to her. She had little chance this time after sixty eight tiring attempts. If she played it cool, maybe she might get the chance she was waiting for.

"I said, the fuck do you want, dumbass?" She cried out loud.

The man didn't bat an eye towards her. Instead, the man went to the pile of hat and began examining it. "Hmm, this is the perfect height for making a bed." He began to look around for materials.

Rayleen didn't get it. This time was really different from all the other times, with the man spouting random bullshit. She wanted to know-is the loop really over? "Didn't you hear me? What the fuck do you want?" Rayleen screamed.

Yet again, the man acted like she didn't exist and rooted around in the hay, before finally opening his mouth. "I need a new horse. This one is lame." He said pointing at the horse outside the barn, before going back to looking at the hay.

"Fuck. I meant what are you doing here right now, asshole!" Rayleen was infuriated by this nonchalant behavior of this guy. She was so furious at the guy that she walked towards him and kicked his unsuspecting balls.

The man squealed like a little girl and fell to the floor. He stared at Rayleen with tears in his eyes, as if she betrayed his trust. She didn't undersatnd how this bastard actually started viewing her as the villain when he was the one killing people around.

However, this was her ultimate chance to escape. She rushed towards the horse, hoping to escape with it, before she stopped and voluntarily returned to the barn. She looked at the man who was visibly in pain.

"You know, this loop has been fucking me up since the beginning. You were enjoying it, weren't you? And even if I escape this barn on the back of the horse, it wouldn't actually matter, would it? I'll yet again end up back in this fucking barn. If you ask me to guess what's up with the loop, I'd probably say that this is magic. Now, how can I cancel this magic? Well, doesn't most of the spells get cancelled if the caster is dead? So, hypothetically, if you died, the cast would wear off too. Of course, that'd be barring the certain spells which would continue even if the caster dies. But I don't think this is one such thing. Why? Because, you didn't think of dying right now, that's why. Well, there's only one way to know for sure, right?" Rayleen asked as she took the shotgun on him and pointed at his head.

The man was frightened. The fear towards her, the fear of dying consumed him. "Please don't do this! You know what, I'll lift the spell! Isn't that fine?" He asked.

Rayleen thought for a quick second, before a creepy smile emerged in her face. "And? How am I supposed to believe you?" She asked as she pointed the shotgun at the man's head. The man held his hands up and looked at her. He started saying something, but she didn't let him finish.

She pulled the trigger, blowing the top of his head off. She was covered in his blood. She dropped the shotgun onto the ground. She felt dizzy and vomited.

Rayleen stepped out of the barn, still buck naked; still afraid. However, unlike this time, she wasn't dragged back into the loop like before. Her intuition was right. The curse of the loop had been lifted. Therefore, rather than heading out straight away, she headed towards the farmhouse that she visited.

She went inside one of the closed rooms from before. It was filled with blood. She deduced that it might be the blood of the dead people from before. However, she didn't give a shit to that. What she wanted was past this room.

"Hah, of course! The psychopath has a fucking fantastic bath!" She laughed out like a madman. She then proceeded to take a long bath for the long day she had. It felt great. After the bath, she looked up some clothes inside the farm. And it seemed like the psychopath had killed some women of her size, since there were a few decent ones in there. Although, she could've just grabbed her own clothes and wore it, that one seemed like more of a grandeur costume that a commoner would never wear and might end up endangering her along the way. Therefore, she ditched it for a much simplistic one.

After some time recuperating, she opened up the farm gates and took the horse with her. She felt the fresh air in her skin for the first time in a long time. She looked at the horizon and saw a faint light.

"Fuck my life!" She muttered as she rode towards the light with no one on her side but herself and this one horse. She didn't know what was out there, but she believed that it could only be better than the garbage she went through already.
